Braised Onion Ratings and Reviews
My first try at the Braised Onion. We made reservations for dinner after the theater.
I Ordered the country tenderloin.
The green beans were properly cooked. I don't think much harm can be done to mashed potatoes, but the steak was very tough. Tougher than I have ever encountered a piece of tenderloin.
The first chair I sat in was worn out years ago. Fortunately we were seated at a four top and both of us could sit on the "bench".
I doubt I will give them another try.
For four of us, this was a first time experience at the Braised Onion. Overall, I would classify the experience as “fair”. There was a diversity of entrees ordered. Both men who ordered the prime-rib found it disappointing and lacking in flavor. We all ordered the braised onion soup or lobster bisque. Both were very good! I ordered the lobster Mac and cheese and found it quite good. It was an exceptionally large serving. Another got the tournedos and they were so tender and flavorful. The sauce was delicious. The chicken pot pie was also ordered and was enjoyed. The chicken Marsala was said to be “good”; but, not great.
We were unable to converse with everyone in our party of six. We were placed at a table for 10 and it made being heard very difficult. This restaurant is quite loud. We had hoped for a more intimate dining experience. Our waiter had multiple tables and he was trying hard to keep up with our needs. As a couple, I would return but I would not go back with a group.
Our waiter, Trevor, did an amazing job serving our table of six.
He was spot on with his descriptions of particular food items, recommendations and personal favorites. Each member of our party was thrilled with their choices and he kept us informed every step of the way. The only negative of the evening was that then noise level was higher than I remember from previous visits. We were at a corner round table and the placement of tables on either side were close!
But again Trevor did an amazing job again and our compliments to the chefs, Deliciously exquisite!
Firstly our Service was very substandard. Inattentive. No follow up during meal. Had to wave at server to get check.
Have eaten here many times before. Generally with pleasing results. Tonight not so much. Pork loin was pretty uninspired. Onion soup was way to salty.
And cannot understand why hostess wanted to pack all the diners together. Asked to be moved since the adjacent table was pretty loud. Her solution was one table over when the dining area looked pretty empty.
What a pleasant surprise! Having traveled all day on our way to Florida, we discovered just a delightful restaurant in Ocala. While the restaurant was several miles off the interstate, the drive was worth the time. Started with the onion loaf, which was delicious, followed by chicken Marsala which was accompanied accompanied with whipped potatoes and outstanding green beans. The flavors of all the items were fresh, generously portioned and visually appealing. We plan to stop at the Braised Onion on the return trip from Florida!
My wife and I came here to celebrate our 37th Wedding Anniversary. The service was great the food was very good, in fact it was delicious! Drinks were excellent! We will return soon! I recommend The Braised Onion to anybody that wants to have a memorable dining experience. The Shrimp and Grits, Onion Soup, Pear Salad, were all delicious. The Bread Pudding was to die for.
We will come back on a Friday evening when there is live entertainment, we hear that the guy that plays there is very good!
Table was set-up for our party of 8. Service was very good. Our waitress was attentive and no problem that we came in separately. I had the pecan crusted salmon over spinach and quinoa - excellent. Everyone enjoyed their meal. We were pleased to see the restaurant was filled with diners. Definitely recommended
We arrived and were seated promptly. Unfortunately that was the end of it. We sat for 15 minutes and were totally ignored by all the servers. At this point we got up, told the hostess we were leaving and why. We had enjoyed our prior experiences at the Braised Onion, however this was a huge disappointment. Above ratings does not apply to food as we never got to eat.
Three couples each cell rating anniversaries. We were seated promptly and given a large booth that easily accommodated all six of us. Our waitress was very friendly and knowledgeable. She provided us with great service. We all had beef dishes and each one was prepared to our specification. The food served hot and every bite was delicious. For desert, each couple shared one of three different homemade desserts; all were yummy. This was the second time my husband and I visited this restaurant and it was great on both occasions. We highly recommend this place.
Don't miss this Gem of a restaurant set in Ocala. The food is amazing should all be in capitals the word amazing. The service is beyond outstanding. And the kitchen will do anything to make the customer happy as far as changing something up or moving something around on a plate. This place is just wonderful! Unfortunately, we live 2 hours away and found the braised onion through open table. But as often as we possibly can we will go back to visit because it will be worth the 2-hour trip.
On our way from Key West to Iowa we stopped here for a very late lunch-4:30! Our waitress, Claudia, was WONDERFUL! I can't say as much for the younger so called host, hostess, "manager", etc. Claudia did EVERYTHING to make our meal comfortable. The food was good.
Not a good night for this restaurant. Prime rib undercooked, tough, and hard to cut. My wife's tornedos of beef were also very tough and her risotto was heavy and gummy. On the good side my baked potato was very fresh and good and our fried onion loaf was light and tasty.
We have been here many other times and enjoyed our meal, so I will certainly give them another try.
Best prime rib in town !! Braised Onion on 25 in Ocala. Started off with grilled Brie & Rosemary/raspberry reduction. Then Prime rib, baked potatoe ( loaded with cheese under the sour cream, bacon bits and chives) and fresh steamed broccoli. Followed by an Amerotto chocolate mousse pie. Trevor was our waiter, he was so knowledgeable oh all the foods and how they were prepared. He made our dining so pleasant. He took such good care of us. Thank you for a great night out.
