It was our first time and it was very good. Our server was Cheri. She was very accommodating. My glass was never empty and the dishes were cleared right away from the table. The food was excellent. My husband had the lobster bisque and I had the mushroom soup. We had crab cakes and a pear salad. We had beef stroganoff as our entree. We had leftovers to take home. We tried the bread pudding and it was delicious. All desserts are made in house. We can’t wait to go back again with friends. We were not rushed at all. The hostess was very friendly too. Great food and great service.
Father’s Day with family
Decent food. Restaurant a bit dated.
What a nice experience! Arrived at four o'clock and had the main room to ourselves. Half an hour later , the room was full ! Please don't tell anyone else about this gem, lets keep it to ourselves ! This is an enterprise to be proud of ! Food is great !
We found the Braised Onion to be no different than any other time we visited. It was VERY good. Nice, personable wait staff (and very good Prime Rib)!
With the reservation I asked for a "birthday dessert" as we were celebrating a birthday. None came and no one seemed to know anything about my request. This was disappointing. The food was fine, but 6 of use were jammed into a booth. The noise level was OK at the beginning, but got very loud by the time we left.
Excellent food. All four of us had nothing but good to say about our meals. The service was excellent and timely and there was live music that night, Friday. We will definitely dine there again.
A wonderful dinner. Food was tasty and fresh. Our server, Trevor, was outstanding. Would definitely recommend this place.
My friends & I dined here for the first time before a show. We were impressed with the menu choices, quality of the food, & great service.
Our first trip to the Braised Onion was a wonderful experience. We went back to celebrate our anniversary and were very disappointef in the prime rib (very fatty) and baked potato and broccoli were just warmish but not hot. Bread and salad were good as well as shrimp appetizer. Also shared a chocolate mouse desert which was good🤪. Main course quite disappointing.
We are a party of four friends who fell into a great habit. After an outing like the theatre, museum, symphony, etc. We look forward to going to the Braised Onion . The food is excellent. We could each recommend something we've had and loved, but the homemade soups must be tried at least once!
The main dishes we had this time were Beef Stroganoff, Pork Loins, Beef Tornados. All wonderful. We have had Lobster mac and cheese, Chicken Marsala, Meat Loaf and more.
Lunch is great for groups as well as a single. Very good salads for both lunch and dinner.
We have taken out of state guests to Braised Onion with much success. It's reliable, fresh and tasty every time!
We enjoyed Valentine's Day Dinner here and thought this would be a good choice for a Birthday. The prime rib was very disappointing, not at all what we expected after our first experience. I also noted on my reservation that this was for a Birthday. There were several birthday's that night at but mine went unmentioned. Failed at Birthday/Date Night
This was our first visit to Braised Onion. Mothers Day was a buffet, and they only do a buffet 3 times a year. The food was very good to excellent, and the chef made a blood orange dessert that was to die for. Great service, excellent food. We will go back to try the menu. Would recommend this to a friend.
Went mothers day. No indication on website about buffet. Stayed anyway. Food was good...server attentive. Don't like buffet atmosphere, but enjoyed meal.
Having moved here from DC and most recently from Charleston SC, it is very difficult to find restaurants that even come close. This restaurant was very close! Food was delicious and staff classy. I miss that! Not many restaurants in this area have good food and class! The only negative was the noise level but I will definitely go back and recommend!
We found this place in open table and it was really good! excellent service and the food was very good.
Had a great dinner with friends. Food was really good and service was excellent.
Wonderful dinner. The panko crusted cod was excellent and the service was outstanding. One of the best restaurants in Ocala.
went here for lunch by accident and it was a good one! everything was really good, lunch prices were reasonable. looked at the dinner menu and those prices seemed a little pricey for us, but we would definitely go here again!
We were spending a few days in Ocala for my husband's birthday and located the Braised Onion on the internet before traveling. We were not disappointed. The interior was lovely, the waitress was outstanding, and the food did not disappoint. We especially liked the Princess Dianna Bread Pudding--it was the bomb. Don't overlook this dessert, even if you think you are too full for dessert.
I brought friends who were in town from Utah to have dinner herr. Rachel was our server and she was fantastic. She recommended several dishes for our party and was very patient while we took our time deciding. We had The lobster Mac and cheese, prime rib, and shrimp and grits. The food was flavorful and plentiful. The Amaretto Mousse cake melted in your mouth. I am always pleased with the food and my service every time I go here. I will be back.
We had an amazing dinner. It exceeded our expectations. We will visiting again.
Nice, nice, nice - will definitely return for lunch or dinner.
Comfort food with an attitude-great liver and onions, and tasty beef tornadeu-cooked perfect med rare! Great service and moderate pricing. I will return!
Outstanding service, diversified menu, and very good food. Was nice that I could make reservations with Open Table. Went later -- 6:45 pm during the week, and we were seated immediately. I will definitely go again, and my friends agree. Some of the pricing is higher than other restaurants, as in $29 for prime rib (only served on weekend), but there are moderately priced entrees as well.
Mom’s 85th birthday!! It was everyone’s first time & we all truly enjoyed it!! We will be back again!!
Not our first visit to the Braised Onion. We keep going back all the time. Enjoy the home cooked cuisine and excellent cocktails from a very capable bartender.
Braised Onion has never disappointed us. They are always accommodating. The service and food has always been outstanding. I would recommend this restaurant to everyone.
As the door was opened, the hostess welcoming us back, it felt like we were home! Our waitperson was attentive but not pesky and the food and drink were as delicious as ever!
After enjoying a leisurely meal, we departed with the hostess thanking us for coming. This may be casual as far as description but they understand service. Have never been disappointed with any food I have ordered either! Warning - if you order their onion soup, It is huge (and scrumptious); plan on salad for your main course!
Met friends. Great visit as we had to wait for our very delicious food served by our very good waitress. The kitchen was obviously a bit overwhelmed as it took a while to get our food out. The wine we sipped while waiting was very good, but the noise level of so many happy diners made it difficult to talk across the table. The owner needs to put in a noise control ceiling and perhaps hire a couple more good chefs or assistants for the kitchen to get top marks all around.
Regardless of the side issues, will definitely return as the food selection and tastes were both very satisfying and better than most other local restaurants. The price was reasonable as well.
We were all glad that we had decided to give the Braised Onion a try.
This is a great place for some awesome comfort food. Service was great and everything came out hot and delicious.
Food was enjoyable. Good options on the menu. Something for everything. Wine list a little lacking but martini bar made up for it. Good music playing. It was very busy and they were 1-2 servers short but when the servers were around they were attentive and pleasant. Drinks and dinner $40 per person. We would go back.
I love the Braised Onion even though it is a 45 minute drive. The service is outstanding. The last time we were there we had Trevor as a server. He was amazing, attentive, accommodating, and very knowledgeable about the menu. Also Cheri (?sp) is an excellent server. Everything I have ordered there has been so delicious. i highly recommend this restaurant. Even there reservation system is a breeze. Yup, my favorite place.
Mother Day Brunch 5:00 pm, food not even warm and 2 selections for dessert, which came in a to-go plastic condiment cup. For $49.95 pp not worth it.
We went for dinner on Easter and we were very disappointed. We went with another couple and we both researched a place to eat. Based on mostly good to excellent reviews, and the menu on their website, we decided this would be a great choice. When we arrived we were very disappointed to find that there was no ordering from the menu. We were shocked to find out the price of the buffet was $40. It was definitely not worth the price. All 4 of us thought the food was mediocre, at best. We haven't decided if we will try it again on a regular day.
Easter Sunday brunch was wonderful. The food was great. I was pleased to see several vegetarian options on the buffet that were delicious. The kitchen staff did their best keeping the buffet well stocked. Overall a good experience.
We went for a birthday celebration. They don't offer a treat for the birthday person, but that was ok. Our food was good!!! Our service was great!
We always love going to the Braised Onion. Their short ribs are the best!
Food was fabulous and the service was perfect.
Very nice dinner and experience for my mom’s birthday dinner.
