Overall a great place to eat. Italian done right.
Prior to eating here I have been told that the food and service was amazing. I hate to say that this is not the truth in my experience. Upon arrival there were no more than 5 tables seated. In our area we were table #3. The waitress came after about 10 min and told us that it would be a few as the table before us was first. 15 min later she got our drink order.
The food was moderate with the short ribs being awesome and the mashed potatoes being better had they come from a box. The meatloaf as it was put made Cracker Barrel look good. The country steak tasted like liver and onions.
As for the end of the meal. We brought a cake for one of our relative birthday. The waitress brought us a knife and told us that she was suppose to charge us but she wasn't
To say the best. The meal was not worth 300.00 for all of us and I will not be returning.
So to those who say the Braised Onion is awesome. The best part of my meal was the French Onion Soup. Beyond that I would not order again.
Absolutely delicious and service was amazing! I had the shrimp and grits and my other half had the pork. Both meals were excellent. I also had a couple of drinks and they were great as well.
Delicious food and outstanding service!
We had a noon reservation on a Wednesday. Seated immediately and offered drinks. Lunch menu has plenty of choices and is reasonably priced. I had the ‘Quiche of the day’ and it was delicious. My friend ordered the lobster and crab salad and she enjoyed it very much. We will definitely be back!
A nice evening overall. Food and service were tremendous. Other patrons chose to be casual in shorts and tshirts and were noisy.
First time visitors with friends and all agreed that we will return.
Appetizers and 4,main courses were all delicious.
Tonight we had Trevor take care of us again as he remembered us and provided some suggestions that differed from previous visits and they were just as good. This visit we had Braised Short Rib Stroganoff, Lobster Mac & Cheese, Lobster Bisque, Corn Chowder soups, and deserts. All the recommendations were great and look forward to our next visit. Thanks again Trevor!
Lobster Mac and cheese was excellent, would be happy to order it again. Liver and onions received high marks from a member of our party as well. Coconut cream pie was outstanding. Very many good menu choices, we’ll certainly be be back.
It was our Mom’s 88th birthday! We enjoy the food; it was all delicious! Our server Christopher was outstanding!! Thank you!!
Very good overall. Everyone very pleased with food. Server needs refinement of wine service etiquette. Kitchen staff that delivered food should have known who ordered what. Noise level was higher than we preferred, but that is too common, however, Easier to converse with lower noise level.
Both food and service excellent. Presentation was amazing.
We had Easter reservayions and were very disappointed! Limited menu with extremely high prices that didnt include a dinner salad, Since meals were $30-$40 range my daughter asked if I would split the Lanb shank it was $39. We eat had 4 bites and a ramikin of whipped potatoes for $39!!!! Our grandson ordeted a $34 filet and got a ok filet with a small ramikin of potatoes. Very disappointed and never again.
Our meals were very good BUT the service was ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE! Our waitress was ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE! She didn't have a clue about taking drink orders. A simple order of vodka on the rocks with olives was a real challenge for her to understand. She constantly barged up to the table without a thought of saying "excuse me" as she interrupted our conversations. Dining out is supposed to be a relaxing experience with good food otherwise we could just stay home. We usually have a good experience at the Braised Onion but this last time was not.
Food was excellent. Our waitress was very nice and did an outstanding job of taking care of our party.
Used to love going there for the pecan crusted salmon & country fried steak...OMG the salmon was horrible with that new sauce, the country fried steak was tough and was not served with mashed potatoes..why would you change your menu when everyone loved the OLD menu, food etc
Trevor our server thank God you didn't change!
Amazing hidden gem off the beaten path in Ocala.
Delicious food. Nice dinning atmosphere. Outstanding service
Delicious food, good service. Only complaint is we Wanted more delicious rolls but after asking twice never got them!
Had a wonderful meal. We were greeted with a Happy Birthday comment.
Great food, great service, great place to eat. I recommend this restaurant to anyone.
It was fantastic!!!!
Entire family, even our 2 year old granddaughter enjoyed the meal and the service was exceptional.
Everyone was very nice
We had a great server, dinner was good as expected. It was good to see they practiced good, health practices with Covid.
My risotto was very good. My husband did not care for the fish and chip. He said that the breading was to much and the fish was mushy. I would go back and so would he. Just not get the fish and chips.
Good food in a nice atmosphere. Every employee wore a mask.
Family owned restaurant. Chicken Parmesan was delicious my wife had the Baked Cod she said it was one of the best she’s had, food was superb. Will definitely return and we highly recommend it.
This was our second visit. Our first was 5 or 6 years ago and was not memorable. We decided to try again, thinking
Our waitress was distracted by a problem with another staff member. The two tables that were seated after us got their food before ours, although we had already ordered before they came in. Our waitress was also doing double duty as bartender and run off of her feet. I don't think it was all on her but when she realized we didn't have our food yet, she did a double take and went into the kitchen. When we were served it was obvious that our chicken dishes, one lemon chicken the other with mushrooms and sauce, had been reheated to serve to us. The chicken was inedible, dried right out and the lemon chicken tasted like they had thrown some more lemon on it to try to soften it up a bit. The mashed potatoes were also dried out. We did not eat our entree and the salad that they threw at us when they realized we hadn't been served yet was a hunk of romaine, not cut up, just a hunk, with some caesar dressing thrown on top. Very disappointing. Don't know what the arguments were about, but a VERY uncomfortable atmosphere and when we said we couldn't eat what we were served they said that the kitchen staff had already left for the day (before 9 p.m.) so they took the dishes off the bill, but we left without having eaten.
Food was just okay. Not much seasoning on stroganoff.
We had a 7pm reservation, for which we arrived 15 minutes early. We were seated approximately twenty after, and was informed that certain items on the menu were no longer available. Our server came across as condescending, stating that we "didn't have to order all the courses". The lobster bisque was served cold, and the salad was served with the wrong dressing. Empty drink glasses were ignored, as there were more important or better dressed guests. The portions were small, not at all what is expected for the price. If you actually work for a living, and want to treat your other to a nice dinner/night out, try somewhere else. This is not the place to go.
We had 6:15 reservations for Valentine's Day and they were already out of Salmon, Prime Rib, Short Ribs, Bread, Asparagus and likely many other foods we did not try to order. The waitstaff was frazzled and hurried.
It should have been a warning sign that we were able to get reservations on V-Day less than 2 weeks before the holiday.
We tried to enjoy a 6:30 reservation for Valentines day, but it was spoiled by being told 3 main food items were not available. We waited 15 minutes for a waitress to take a drink order and she kept moving past us. We decided to leave and told the owner's daughter how disappointed we were. We have previously never had a problem.
I hesitate to write this review. We have been to you place before and it was marvelous. Not so much on Feb 14. I feel you overloaded yourself and did not have enough food or help. Your service people were run ragged and a causal observance you run out of quite a bit early on. We had the prime rib always a winner but this time it was unremarkable. Like I said we have been very satisfied before and will continue to frequent you place and hope it was just a anomaly this day.
Valentines Day. It seemed as if our waiter was very overwhelmed. After waiting 20 minutes (would’ve been longer than that if I didn’t say something after seeing other tables get seated that came in after us) for our reserved table that we arrived on time at 5:00 to; it went downhill from there. We were seated and about 10 minutes later we were greeted by the waiter and he took our drink order. When he arrived back with our drinks, we ordered. We both ordered a cup of lobster bisque as an appetizer and surf & turf for our meals. 30 minutes later he shows back up and says “we ran out of lobster bisque”. I said ok, we’ll take two Caesar salads and some bread. 30 minutes later he shows back up and says your entrees should be out soon! I said what about the bread and the salads?? So he brings the salads and the bread with no butter for the bread. Brought our meals about 15 minutes after our salads and had to ask for butter and salt and pepper. The food was decent, my steak was cooked as ordered, my gf’s was over cooked. Maybe on a night that is not busy it would be pretty good, but I don’t think I’ll be finding out.
Great place to celebrate a special occasion. Best restaurant in the area!
Loved it, food was awesome and service was flawless.
First time at Braised Onion, and the experience was outstanding! Food was excellent, service was great, atmosphere was romantic. Will definitely go back and try something new.
