This was a social distancing Thanksgiving for 2020. We decided to stay local as advised.
This meal was impressively delicious, and filling. First course was a tasty onion soup for hubby, and coconut shrimp for me with a delightful mango chutney. The turkey breast was tender, and the stuffing was moist. Our favorite small side was the succotash.
We were stuffed, so we brought our pecan pie home to enjoy later.
The staff was knowledgeable and friendly.
We would highly recommend lunch or dinner there.
Food and service were outstanding! I had the eggplant parm. I am Italian from NY and it was one of the best I’ve ever had. Husband had the braised short ribs and they were also delicious. The coconut cream pie is fantastic and fresh made in house. What a delightful find!!!
We had a wonderful dining experience with The Braised Onion. The food was exquisite and a fair price. The wait staff was very friendly and attentive. It was the beginning of a long relationship with this establishment!
Sale of house closing - new listing - home inspection all in one day
Excellent food! Wonderful service!
Excellent meal, great service. Especially appreciated the number of gluten free meals on the menu.
Our food for three couples was excellent! Everything’s came out at perfect temperature and in timely manner. Our server was attentive. Great meal!
This restaurant was such a great find. The food was delicious and the servers were very nice and attentive. My family and I will definitely be back!
Returned after visiting two years ago to enjoy a good menu selection and tasty cocktails. We particularly enjoyed the beef short rib and the short rib Stroganoff. Our server was friendly and very efficient. Will definitely return when we’re in Ocala.
My dinner, the Seafood Cioppino was good except the Mahi Mahi included in the dish was over cooked but still edible. My wife had Coconut Shrimp as her entree, of the 6 shrimp, one was well over cooked. The remaining 5 were good and tasty.
Our food was excellent as was the service. I have recommended this restaurant to others. It's a real find.
we wanted something different and new. The Braised Onion was awesome. The Beef Stroganoff and Lobster Mac and Cheese were OUTSTANDING. We loved it so much that we made reservations to come back again in November. Highly recommend this restaurant.
Our server was very professional and attentive. The food was good our appetizer was sent back because the 1st one wasn't cooked all the way ( was doughy on inside) 2and one was over done, end up canceling that. The entrees: stragonaff was very good and my wife had a noodle dish and they accommodated her except forgot extra vegetables, but did exclude fish sauce. Only real complaint is appetizer basically deep fried onion and were told owner had come in and she was trying to fix problem, but she never came to our table to apologize for our in convenience, would have gone along way. Will most likely return, still deciding.
I don’t like to overeat (normal max 2 courses) but this meal was excellent and so I added the third
Lobster bisque - perfect
Liver and onions - tender and perfect onions - even the mash was great
Bread and butter pudding (Princess Diana’s favorite - I know if she tasted it - it would have been - just in readable.
This is world class food - wonderful
My first review on TripAdvisor was 5 stars. Highly recommended.
This time, brought my friend for her birthday lunch.
My 1st disappointment our waitress.
Introduced herself, asked what were drinking. She brought our teas. I had to ask what the quiche of the day was, had to ask what lunch specials they had. They had a limited menu, understood, most places do now. Our lunches were tasty, service not so much. She was lucky, I left a tip at all.
Owners struggling to stay in business need good team players, to thrive.
Sorry, not taking a 3rd chance to go back spending $45.00 and try, to have a pleasant experience again.
Basically embarrassed, my friend didn't have a nice birthday lunch.
The onion fritters were too oily and dense. Supposed to be light and airy. The fish and chips. Let me make this bold statement. All frozen fish is bland and taste like cardboard and it was also too greasy. The star of the meal was the macaroni and cheese which as you know is a side dish. The corn chowder was bad. Quiche was just okay. No bread and butter. Service was a bit on the slow side but very friendly.
Was disappointed in their new menu. We always got the onion break with dip as an appetizer. They now have onion fritters - the only redeeming part of this new appetizer was the dips for the fritters. Our onion soup was just OK, my husband ordered the seafood cioppino for his main dish. ALthough loaded with fish and seafood, the sauce was bland. I ordered their bread pudding and that was the best part of my meal. Would I go back again????????not sure. I must say the young lady that waited on us was terrific!!!!!
Food was very good, service excellent. Overall very pleased.
Really great lunch. We had the Pow Pow shrimp for an appetizer and it was spot on. Just the right amount of spicy. Hubby truly doesn't like anything spicy, so I worried, but the sweetness of the dish offset the spice and he loved it.
The waitstaff was truly attentive. Will look forward to going back.
Great server , good social distancing !!
This is the 2nd time we have celebrated a birthday here and we were not disappointed either time. The bisque was just the right temperature, the fried green tomatoes were a great appetizer and the short ribs meat fell off the bone. Although this is a bit far for us to travel for dinner, (hour away), we enjoyed our food both times so much, we will be back again soon.
Our server, Sierra, was excellent. She was fun to be around and added to our good experience on date night. The food and drinks were very good as usual. This is a wonderful place.
The food was terrific; everything we ordered, from apps to entrees to desserts, was delicious. The service was great, too!
First time to Braised Onion and it was a beautiful experience. Food was very good, atmosphere was so very relaxing and beautiful, and service was very attentive. It will be one of my 'return' to places when in Ocala from now on.
We enjoyed our dining experience at Braised Onion, especially the fact that all CDC recommended practices were in place.
The food here is excellent and priced reasonable. The drinks are also priced reasonably. We will definitely be returning here to try more of their dishes.
This was our first visit, but certainly won’t be our last. All of the staff were very friendly, the servers were excellent and the food was awesome! A very nice, relaxed vibe made for a great experience.
Having not been to Braised Onion in 6 months due to the quarantine, we chose to go at mid-afternoon to avoid crowds. Food was WONDERFUL, service was excellent, atmosphere was quiet and intimate. We will most certainly return sooner than the last time!
We decided to go out to a restaurant for our 46th Wedding Anniversary. We had stayed in for months.
The Braised Onion had recently opened after an extended closing. We had reservations for 5:00 p.m. on Sunday and we were one of two couples at the restaurant.
The service and the food was excellent.
I hope that they are able to get their clientele back as soon as possible.
First visit. Very pleased with service, food and comfort. Will certainly return.
The food is awesome and the service top notch!! Highly recommend.
We made a reservation through OPENTABLE for 6:00 pm March 11, 2020 for a party of 10. Reservation number 2109852629.
We arrived at 6:02 pm due to traffic and were told that there would be a 10 minute delay due to a "large" 30 person "walk-in" about 20 minutes ago. I explained that we had Reilly tickets for 7:30 pm and I was told that it was not a problem. We waited. 20 minutes later, we were still not seated so I spoke to a young lady who went to see what she can do. Around 6:35 pm, we were seated. We explained to the waiter that we had to be out by 7:15 to get to the Reilly on time. He took our drink and orders on the spot. Drinks did arrive. Our food was not on the table at 7:20 pm so one of our party walked to see what was happening. The lady who first told us that we would be delayed 10 minutes at the onset came out and told us it would be another 10 to 15 minutes.
We walked out and we will not return nor will any of our group. Keep in mind that we were REGULARS.
As a comment, when an "unreserved" group comes in, please look after the "reserved" group first. We found out that there were only 2 wait staff present. Understaffed? I guess if the 30 were refused (or served after us), none of this would have happened. So, we did not get our dinner and in the end, we missed part of our performance. Braised Onion ruined the entire evening.
AND on top of that, I send this very same message to their site directly and they DID NOT EVEN RESPOND!
We have been there before but it's been a long time. Loved it!
Mighty fine food, service and ambience. The only knock and (it's not a deal breaker) was the noise. It was loud, but joyous.
Excellent dinner. Good service.
We had a 6:30 reservation and were seated on time. There were empty booths and I asked if we could have one, since we were going to be seated at a table for four, anyway. We were told those were reserved. Shortly after, other diners arrived and after being led to tables, we could see they were asking about sitting in a booth. Their requests were granted. Throughout the time we were there, there was always at least one open booth. That set the tone. My husband had the pork special and said it was good. I ordered my prime rib medium well, and it was medium rare if not rare. On the plus side, the drinks were good. Service was mediocre. When leaving I ran into the owner and shared our experience with her. She was apologetic and gave us a gift certificate for a future visit. It’s a 45 minute drive so I’m not sure we’ll be back, but the gesture was appreciated.
We had a wonderful meal with attentive wait staff. Excellent soup and our steaks were cooked to perfection.
Slow service, overpriced. Out os 4 dinner, the only food anyone liked was the coconut shrimp. Will not return.
Our food was amazing and even though we were just a couple of minutes late for our reservation we were still seated pretty promptly so yes highly recommend great food and service
It was good, not great but not bad. Food was average for what they serve. I think they do a decent job but for the price, I want to be more impressed. Not a place I would avoid but not a place I would race back to. I think the best part are the people. They are very nice!!
