Meal a bit on the pricey side, but worth it! Food was delicious. Very warm, inviting, and comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely return.
You can count on the food being consiently good. Our server was pleasant but a little distracted. Dessert and drinks were excellent too. I would recommend to everyone to give it a try. I also like that it's an independently owned restaurant and not a chain
This restaurant service and food are wonderful. Additionally it is close to the Ocala Civic Theatre, which is a plus. The only problem is dim lighting - but our server immediately provided a small flashlight for reading the menu. Overall a great experience
Last-minute decision to go for dinner, and wisely chose Braised Onion. I arrived first and took advantage of two for one happy hour house wine in the bar, and I was most lucky that Trevor was tending bar. He is fabulous. Moving on to dinner, we started with the delicious spicy shrimp appetizer, followed by the ribeye and prime rib. Both were excellent. Then we sprung for two desserts, some thing we almost never do. The crème brûlée and the chocolate mousse were both top-notch. We will be back!
I finally found a place with excellent food in Ocala it was a long search. We had a fabulous meal.
Overall good experience. Very noisy! The young man who was our server was excellent!
I thought the food was good I was impressed that there was enough for more than one meal and I thought the service was great
This place was phenomenal! The best restaurant I’ve been to in Ocala. The food is high quality, flavorful, and delicious. Our Server, Andrew, was great- personable, fun, and prompt. Highly recommend The Braised Onion!
Best Prime Rin in Marion County!! Also lobster mac and cheese excellent!
Nice night with family. The French onion soup is amazing and the bread pudding is a showstopper!
Our first time visit. Excellent all around experience. We'll be back.
Good food. I am gluten-free, thought I picked everything safely, but was very ill all that night. Would recommend just one or two GF items on menu. Might come more often. And my husband asked what happened to your chicken pot pie?
Food was delicious. Our server was informative, answered all our questions . Was very friendly and attentive to our needs. Will return soon for another great experience.
Went for my wife’s birthday. We had been here before but cannot begin to express what a wonderful dining experience the Braised Onion is. There is nothing negative about this place and anyone says anything else I would question their sanity.
Both servers were great, food was good
This was our first time here as we’re new to Ocala. My husband loved the onion fritters with the green goddess sauce and the prime rib special. The onion soup was fantastic! We also got a couple of desserts to go: the bread pudding & coconut cream pie were delicious!
This restaurant is top-notch. My family of 5 had a delightful evening. Everyone felt Christian’s genuine care for the restaurant and our dining experience.
The food was scrumptious: Fried Green Tomatoes, Prime Rib, Filet Mignon, RibEye, Chicken Parmigiana, and Shrimp and Grits were all delicious.
We will definitely be back!
I ordered the Mahi Oscar because the menu said stuffed with lump crab. It was not stuffed. The mahi was a bit too done and the crab was in the sauce. The biggest lump I saw was about the size of a small marble and only 2 that size. Very disappointed!
My husband’s broccoli was scorched.
Can not recommend.
Edible food but didn’t get what we paid for.
All good but only one waitress and place was full - so she was hugely overwhelmed and not as helpful as I would have liked
The crab cake starter was not marked with a price - I was told that was $23 rather high by comparison with other restaurants starters
The food we had was very good but my business partner felt the onion soup and short ribs were over salted
My shrimp and liver were perfect.
Sadly we had communication issues re selecting a drink for me - I wanted cider - alcoholic apple juice - sold almost everywhere but the waitress just said no without asking the Barman - probably because she was too busy
This was our most disappointing visit and we have been many times before and I tell people all about the Resteraunt as I think yours is one of the highest quality for food and service but that can’t continue as my opinion is regarded highly as I teach locally food selection cooking and serving.
I hope this was a one off incident and these issues will be addressed.
Maybe the best overall restaurant in the area. Could not be better.
Food is delicious, well prepared and presented. The service was friendly and timely. I highly recommend them.
We went at noon Sunday expecting that the lunch menu would be available.
Turns out that they only do dinner on Sunday
The service makes a difference when you're eating out and the service at the Braised Onion was 5 stars. The food was great too. We had the pow pow shrimp, lump crab cakes, lobster mac and the ribeye. The pow pow shrimp were 10x better than Bonefish's comparable shrimp. They were crispy and full of flavor. The lump crab cakes were generously portioned and full of real crab meat - not your typical dried out, fried crab cake; very tasty! The lobster mac had large pieces of lobster in every single bite. Worth every penny. And the ribeye was very tender and full of flavor. Ordered rare but served more on the medium side, it was still great. We will be back!
Best French Onion soup I have ever had! My husband had the steak which was massive and one of the best steaks he has ever had. He ordered french fries which were very good. I had Chicken Marsala with mashed potatoes and seasonal vegetables which was zucchini and yellow squash, which was also cooked and seasoned exceptional. We will definitely be back. The service was fantastic and attentative. But because it is not an extensive menu, the attention is on the food which makes it perfect. Looking forward to going back again.
Rachel, our server, wae very attentive and took the to=ime to answer our questions. The food was fatastic... Little pricey but well worth it for a "Date Night" spot.
Service was wonderful. Food is delicious. Restaurant is nicely decorated and clean!!
Great meal with wonderful service. I will definitely be back.
Chicken Parm was outstanding. My wife enjoyed the Beef Stroganoff very much. Early afternoon was perfect time for a late lunch. Not to busy. We'll be back. Very Clean!!
Only distraction was an obnoxious woman with her cell phone ringing. I had to ask her to turn it off or at least turn it on vibrate. We didn't need to listen to her call. Maybe the restaurant could post a sign requesting to turn off phones while we all enjoy a very nice lunch/dinner. Thank you.
Outstanding food and service. Group of six of us. We all agreed we'd be going back!!
Four of us went for the very first time, and were pleasantly surprised! Two of us shared the short ribs stroganoff which was absolutely delicious and our friends had a chicken burger and a Bloody Mary burger both of which they really enjoyed!
Sherry was our server, and she was excellent! bathrooms were super clean which was a nice bonus!
Love this place! Amazing food, drinks and dessert. Best egg plant parm I’ve ever had.
We took my dad and stepmom to the Braised Onion for dinner. They live in Ocala, but had never been there before. It was a five star hit and I can guarantee they will be back! I had the Lemon chicken which was tender and delicious. The sauce was perfect,
There was a great selection of fresh veggies and they were cooked to perfection. My husband had the Chicken Parm and loved it, my stepmom was thrilled with her pecan crusted salmon, and my extremely hard to please 85 year old dad loved his fish and chips and even consented to try the kale slaw (after lots of coaxing from the rest of us) and he liked it. The bread pudding dessert was excellent and while the creme brûlée was good, the top was not done properly and there was a huge mouthful of large grain sugar that uncomfortably crunched and stood out as a mistake. I don’t think they broiled or flamed the top, as well as they should have.
But that was a minor detail in an evening of excellence and I include the service from our waiter, Tony, who impressed my dad with a little local Ocala history! Excellent meal in every respect!
First impressions are not always lasting ones. Food was satisfactory, but I'd like to come back and try something different from the menu. (I had Stroganoff and the wife had chicken parm.) Portions were large, a couple could easily split one entrée. This was our first visit.
The waiter we had last night was wonderful and put everyone at ease from the start. Our service was exceptional, and the ambiance of the restaurant is really nice and a great place to spend a Saturday evening meal. Will definitely return soon.
out side of the loud noise volume it was a good expearance.
We’ve been to this restaurant several times, primarily because they serve excellent eggplant parmesan. Today, I ordered the chicken Marsala. It was unbelievable! The Marsala sauce was the best I’ve ever eaten. Additionally, our server,Rachel, was knowledgeable and attentive. The restaurant never fails to impress!
The main dishes were excellent.
(Lemon chicken, chicken parmigiana and chicken Marsala).
The rolls had just the right of garlic and seasoning.
The broccoli was supposedly roasted with parmigiana cheese was bland.
Onion soup excelllent.
The restaurant was not completely filled but the noise level was extremely loud. As An upscale restaurant better sound reduction needs to be installed.
It was very good. Our waiter Christopher was very good.
Very nice place for Ocala. Food was just ok and service was just ok as well.
Nice for a special occasion.
Perfect cocktail, perfect presentation, perfect dessert, perfect server, perfect atmosphere and extremely clean.
