Bowman's Tavern Ratings and Reviews
Love, love love this restaurant. Wish it was closer, we would go all the time! Great burgers! Good food for sure, salads are fresh and delicious. Sandwiches, good, wine/ beer reasonably priced. Piano player on weekends...wonderful historic coziness and ambience. Has that old time feeling of a bar/ historic ale house...Can you tell we like it?
We discovered Bowman's Tavern a few years ago and now it is a "must" when we make our annual visit to Bucks County. The cocktails are great, the mac and cheese appetizer is delicious and enough for 2 to share, and the meatloaf (yes, I know--how can you choose meatloaf at a restaurant) is out of this world. In fact, at our last visit, all four of us had the meatloaf. It is that good!
We had a great time as usual. Great service from Daniella. It’s was nice to see Amanda who usually took care of us. Amada da is amazing.
The buffalo wings were cocked as requested extra crispy the best wings in town. Reason for a 4 instead of 5 for food is due to my fish and chips to over cocked I mean the batter was almost burned tooooo brown instead of golden brown and my hubby swordfish special was just ok nothing special. We are regulars and yes will be back
We were in town for just a few days and had read about Bowman's Tavern on-line. It sounded good so we decided to give it a try. We were very surprised by just how much we enjoyed the evening. We were greeted by a hostess who immediately made us feel like we were regulars. She made us feel very comfortable, chatted on the way to our table, and stayed for a few minutes while we talked. Our server was outstanding, attentive and very helpful, in spite of being very busy with a full house. The live piano music was enjoyable without being too loud. Our food was delicious. In short, we had a great meal, never felt hurried or rushed, and had a relaxed and thoroughly enjoyable evening.
We went there because of the reviews on Yelp. My husband had the fried oysters for an appetizer and they were delicious. We both had fish and chips and the fish was very good and the portions were large. The best part was the cheesecake for desert. Highly recommend this to anyone and we will return the next time we are in New Hope area. Reservations necessary for dinner.
Nothing bad about the experience but also nothing to draw me back. Food was adequately prepared but not particularly noteworthy. The bread pudding was more like a dense cake, took just a couple bites before deciding it wasn’t worth the calories. Service was a bit on the slow side, and oddly enough got slower as the tables cleared out. The place was packed and noisy at 7:30PM and completely dead at 9:30PM on a Saturday.
Parking is limited and appeared to be valet only, and the attendant came into the restaurant to give me my keys, as he was shutting it down for the night. Never seen that before...Also beware the single-use restroom, had to wait 20 minutes while some dude finished his business....
We were seated in a back room booth, where a large party with small children was present. Although they appeared to be finishing up ,asking for take home boxes etc. their noise level was very loud and intrusive up until our main courses were served. After 1 of child was on her third verse of Twinkle Twinkle Little Star I was sorry we didn't have our seats moved. Other than that food and service was very good & we will definitely return.
We enjoyed our meal and felt the service was very good. There is an excellent variety of items to choose from, and appetizers are sized to share. The cornmeal dusted oysters were especially good. We appreciated the fact that the waitress and the kitchen had no problem making small adjustments to things we ordered.
