Bow Valley Ranche Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
We normally love this restaurant, however we were very disappointed with our Valentine’s Day date night experience. There was a 5-course meal that we chose our selections from, which seemed to deviate from The Ranche’s regular game-fare. We were happy with the choices though and had the tuna crudo, poached pear salad & borscht, baked brie
We went the day before Valentine's Day, and were wowed by the location and scenery, the owl in the tree outside, the postcard-perfect image of the restaurant outside, and we hadn't even entered the restaurant yet! We chose the Valentine's sampler with wine pairing. All courses were amazing, but the initial appetizer was easily the best we've ever tasted, with tuna sushimi and a fruity vinaigrette that was absolutely perfect! Our waiter was fun, pleasant, and very attentive. Will be going back.
The food, service and ambiance are fantastic! We went for my mother-in-law's birthday and had a great experience. The staff was super friendly and welcoming as they sat us at a long table (there was 7 of us) in front of the grand fireplace. There is nothing better then sitting by the fireplace on a cold winter's night enjoying a delicious meal prepared by the extremely talented Chefs. Our server kept us entertained and laughing all night with perfectly timed jokes. Not only was she hilarious, she recommended a great wine that went with everyone's meal. Also the kitchen is fantastic at accommodating food allergies. We have the 3 big allergies (nuts, dairy and gluten) and all we had to do was mention these to our server and everything came out of the kitchen perfectly. They must be magic in the kitchen because I don't know how they can make everything so tasty without dairy/butter and they even have a dessert that is dairy free which isn't sorbet or fruit. They really made us feel special and even put a chocolate plaque saying happy birthday on my mother-in-law's dessert. Everyone was so happy with what they ordered! We definitely did not leave hungry, the portions and quality are very generous for the price. The menu has great local ingredients and is so fitting for the restaurants beautiful location in Fish Creek Park. We could not be happier with our experience and I would recommend everyone try this gem. We will definitely be going back!
Food is very tasty and beautifully presented. Good selection of food. Exceptional and very friendly service that knows how to make you feel special. Our waiter knew about any item from menu and made the recommendations. He also helped us to choose good wine. We enjoyed our dinner a lot and wish that prices are little bit better so we can come more often.
I booked a dinner for 2 for my husband’s birthday but I was very disappointed with the service and server was little rude to us. The food was not at all worth the price. We ordered lamb and steak dinner, both were very dry and we had cold soup. If you are paying $200 for 2 ppl, I expect a high end service. We’ll never go back again.
The ambiance at Bow Valley Ranche is just lovely as it gets you into a country feeling while still being in the city. All four of us are foodies and we were very pleased with the food -tasty and creatively presented. Our birthday request was tastefully managed with a 'Happy Birthday' message written on chocolate and presented with dessert. And then the waiter came outside with us as we were leaving and took photos of us with our phones with the Ranche building in the background. It was a wonderful experience all round!
Wonderful location, excellent staff, food fit for a king, cozy ambience.
Greeted in a genuine manner, appropriate wait between appetizers and the beautifully presented main course. Servers attentive without being obtrusive... The setting in Fish Creek park on a winter's night was magical.
A top notch staff is evident from the moment we arrived until we left.
Looking forward to summer meals on the verhanda
Delicious food, charming ambience and great service! A little loud, due to a 'loud talker' at the next table - no big deal. We mentioned to our server that everything was great except for the side potato, which desperately needed salt and flavour - and she brought us two ports on the house, which wasn't necessary but was appreciated. This restaurant continues to impress after several years.
I have been wanting to try this restaurant for a very long time. I was very sad to say the food was very disappointing. For a high-end restaurant, I found the dishes to be quite amateur. I was expecting highly complex dishes with attention to detail but I received something that I would expect someone new to cooking to produce. The service we received was good, but also somewhat lacking in attention to detail.
The latest on many visits to a great restaurant.
I don’t get to go here as often as I used to anymore, since my work has taken me to far away places.
But whenever I return to Canada, and visit Calgary it is on the top of my list of places to visit
My wife and I have both enjoyed this since our very first date night almost five years ago.
As I’ve been getting older, what I eat has become significantly more important, so I decided to go a little lighter this time.
I had the ratatouille, and it was delightful.
Who knew Bow Valley Ranche was more than just meat???
Bow Valley Ranch has been a favourite our family's for years. More so for celebratory dinners or holidays. We've hosted corporate dinners here too. Our youngest and oldest both have food allergies to different things (one to all nuts and the other is celiac). We always worry about them dining out but the front and back of house takes such good care. It really is like eating at home...but just better!
The setting is absolutely amazing (with Fish Creek Park as the back drop), the old heritage house is nostalgic and charming. The menu is creative and out right perfect (especially when paired with their recommended wines).
If this spot is just a little closer to home, it would be a regular dining location.
