Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina - Miami Ratings and Reviews
Food is excellent, service was quite poor. Despite a reservation, we had to wait a while for our table - at least half of the wait was because there was literally no one staffing the front, so we had to wait for them to show up. Wine glasses regularly hit empty before anyone came by, and servers often didn't know answers to menu questions. Food was delicious (though my steak was a little over-done)
We are fans of the chef...had a great experience in San Fran years ago and also have been to this restaurant before and had a great experience. This time was for my husband’s birthday and I felt like I made a bad and disappointing choice. NONE of the staff seemed happy or friendly. Also, we like to eat slowly and enjoy our dinner but even we were wondering when our entrees would come...long time after we had apps. Don’t think we will be going back or recommending.
We love Bourbon Steak. It's lively, the service is fantastic and the food is very very good, however, I would like to see a few more interesting Fish Selections. The steak is really excellent, but we've ordered rare to medium rare, charred on the outside. Only two of the steaks came out the way they were ordered. The other five were closer to medium, but the taste is delicious. It's expensive, but well worth the money. I would like to acknowledge Sasha and Alex at the reception. They were welcoming and accommodating. A great way to start the evening.
We split a Delmonico ribeye steak which was perfectly cooked and seasoned -- and oh so tender. The Caesar salad was fine with nice size anchovies, but the dressing contained olives....not my husband's favorite..and sort of ruined the salad for him. One of our friends had the parsnip soup which she said was delicious. She also had the Florida Rock Shrimp Ceviche as her main course and liked that as well. Her husband had the skirt steak which was okay but, after tasting our Delmonico, he said he would have that next time. All of us shared baked potatoes. Yum.
Molton cake satisfied the chocolate lover's sweet tooth's. The flavor of the banana tartine was wonderful but the pastry crust was so tough we had to use a knife to try to cut it.
As always, this place has an elegant setting and a lively vibe. The bar is always packed and, even on a Wednesday night, all the tables were full.
Terrible service. Entrees arrived after a long wait and the side dishes didn’t until we were almost finished with our entrees.
It was a disappointing experience as I’ve eaten there many times before.
Definitely won’t go back nor would I recommend it to anyone!
My friend and I each ordered the $64 ribeye. The cut that they gave me was an end cut, it was cut crooked, and about 20% on one end was inedible. I expected the entire piece to have gristle and a tendon running through it. I complained. They brought two raw steaks to the table and let me pick. They said the chef agreed and said it never should have been sent out. If that’s true, then how did it get out of the kitchen in the first place? The new steak, was fine, and they provided a free order of brussel sprouts which were delicious. It is somewhat overpriced, but you’re paying for Turnberry. That having been said, paying $275 for a dinner for two including only one drink each—it NEVER should have happened.
I am very much a foodie and enjoy exquisite wine. Service can make or break a restaurant as much as the food. Bourbon by Michael Mina over-delivers and outperforms in every category. Special mention to Kevin our server. His knowledge of the menu and inspirations added to the experience. Gratuity of 18% was included automatically. I am not a fan of this practice at all, but it did not deter us from adding the tip we wanted to leave. All in all it was so good we returned the next night, but ordered our food to-go and enjoyed it in the hotel. We plan to return once more before heading home. From the Jeans’ family to our friends at Bourbon, ‘well done and we look forward to seeing you soon’!
Been to a few very outstanding Michael Mina restaurants. Unfortunately, this one fail incredibly short of my expectations based on other MM experiences. The ambiance is fabulous (hands down) and service was right at the expected level for an MM establishment. The menu and items on it, for the particular evening, were utterly not there, in every sense of the phrase “utterly not there”. At just shy of a G ($$$$) for 3 peeps (2Aud/1K), very disappointing.
Christmas day we went early to sit at the Bar. Jen makes incredible drinks and is always a pleasure, the reason we love the bar. Apps were great and the Veal Chop and Tuna just amazing. Veal was perfect and like butter. A great meal, definitely our favorite special place to go.
Christmas Eve. We’ve dined at Boourbon Steak several times, both on holidays and not. Unfortunately this was a very poor experience compared to others and it has gone consistently downhill over the past couple of years. Made a dinner reservation a month prior with a table request. While it’s never guaranteed, they were not able to accommodate the request and gave no explanation. Server was lukewarm throughout the meal. Items like steak tartare which are normally plated tables use were done in kitchen (no advance notice). Sent oysters back as they tasted off. Steak over cooked. We noticed other tables offered/served bread and after dinner chocolates. We were never offered or brought any. What use to be a family favourite was a disappointment.
It was my 2nd visit to Bourbon. I was not aware that I had to specify a table in the "Main" dining room. I made a note in my Open Table reservation that it was a "special birthday". Nevertheless, we were placed in the bar area next to a table with small children squeezed around a cocktail table!! As our bill was several hundred dollars for 4 adult meals, we were extremely disappointed. The service was average. We waited several minutes before anyone even came over to our "Bar Booth." The food was good, not great. We will think twice before returning and booking on open table as we feel we always get crummy tables.
