Bourbon Steak by Michael Mina - Miami Ratings and Reviews
I am very much a foodie and enjoy exquisite wine. Service can make or break a restaurant as much as the food. Bourbon by Michael Mina over-delivers and outperforms in every category. Special mention to Kevin our server. His knowledge of the menu and inspirations added to the experience. Gratuity of 18% was included automatically. I am not a fan of this practice at all, but it did not deter us from adding the tip we wanted to leave. All in all it was so good we returned the next night, but ordered our food to-go and enjoyed it in the hotel. We plan to return once more before heading home. From the Jeans’ family to our friends at Bourbon, ‘well done and we look forward to seeing you soon’!
Been to a few very outstanding Michael Mina restaurants. Unfortunately, this one fail incredibly short of my expectations based on other MM experiences. The ambiance is fabulous (hands down) and service was right at the expected level for an MM establishment. The menu and items on it, for the particular evening, were utterly not there, in every sense of the phrase “utterly not there”. At just shy of a G ($$$$) for 3 peeps (2Aud/1K), very disappointing.
Christmas day we went early to sit at the Bar. Jen makes incredible drinks and is always a pleasure, the reason we love the bar. Apps were great and the Veal Chop and Tuna just amazing. Veal was perfect and like butter. A great meal, definitely our favorite special place to go.
Christmas Eve. We’ve dined at Boourbon Steak several times, both on holidays and not. Unfortunately this was a very poor experience compared to others and it has gone consistently downhill over the past couple of years. Made a dinner reservation a month prior with a table request. While it’s never guaranteed, they were not able to accommodate the request and gave no explanation. Server was lukewarm throughout the meal. Items like steak tartare which are normally plated tables use were done in kitchen (no advance notice). Sent oysters back as they tasted off. Steak over cooked. We noticed other tables offered/served bread and after dinner chocolates. We were never offered or brought any. What use to be a family favourite was a disappointment.
It was my 2nd visit to Bourbon. I was not aware that I had to specify a table in the "Main" dining room. I made a note in my Open Table reservation that it was a "special birthday". Nevertheless, we were placed in the bar area next to a table with small children squeezed around a cocktail table!! As our bill was several hundred dollars for 4 adult meals, we were extremely disappointed. The service was average. We waited several minutes before anyone even came over to our "Bar Booth." The food was good, not great. We will think twice before returning and booking on open table as we feel we always get crummy tables.
Restaurant was very cold. Over air-conditioned. Wasted they had spoken to engineer. After 2 hours absolutely no difference. Food very good excepting salads were over dressed. Next time will get dressing on the side.
Service was good until tea and coffee service. Couldn't get it right.
Overpriced for overall food quality. None of us (4) enjoyed any of the sides. We really didn’t order much and the bill added up to $600.00 (only two cocktails). Rarely is a single restaurant meal worth this amount of money, and even less so in this case. We won’t be returning.
We were disappointed. I had dined here years ago and had a great time, but this time we didn't enjoy ourselves as much. My wife ordered her steak well done and the meat was burned to a crisp and inedible even with steak sauce. We ordered mushrooms that never arrived. The restaurant was very loud and difficult to even have a conversation from across the table. The only highlight for us was the molten lava cake and the wine list. For four diners where the tab was $500, not worth it.
The food was great and the service was good. I ordered the rib cap which was cooked to perfection and the whipped potatoes which were delicious. The downside was that the place was very noisy, with loud music playing that could be heard everywhere. My waiter couldn't even hear my order without getting very close. They also had a Burgundy flight, which was overpriced at $35 for 3 very small tastes. I would have gotten more wine had I just ordered a glass of wine.
