This has to be the best restaurant in DC. Every aspect of the experience is outstanding. Terrific sommelier!
Usually the restaurant is spot on. Unfortunately this past Saturday they did not meet expectations. My good friend is getting married in 3 weeks, to celebrate a group of 8 of us decided to have dinner at a steak house. I choose Bourbon Steak given my prior business dinners there were always top notch. Well first of all service was way off, yes the place was completely full of guests but our server was not attentive enough. I had to get up and ask for our cocktails to be refreshed, to have more our water glasses filled etc. etc unacceptable for this type of restaurant.
Next the food was so average. We ordered grilled octopus as an appetizer it was way over the top charred so much so to taste it was just tasting burnt. For my entree I ordered wagu. I have been to most all of the steak houses in D.C. And in Chicago I know what exceptional wagu tastes like. My entree was like eating pure salt from a salt shaker the worst piece of meat I have eaten. I had it sent back to kitchen. There were a number of other issues with the other entrees.
Suffice it to say I wish I didn't choose this restaurant and I will not ever recommend it for business or please again.
Outstanding food and service. Food cooked to perfection. Noise level very loud on weekends, so go earlier if you need to talk! Everything else was flawless!
Great experience. Always is.
Fantastic four seasons service. Every request or need was anticipated or taken care of politely and quickly. Food was excellently prepared and interestingly spiced.
Seafood tower was off. Oysters were bad. Shrimp was overcooked.
One of two steaks we ordered needed to be sent back. Med-rare came out as rare.
Service Flawless; Steaks Prepared Perfectly; Dessert delicious, beautiful, and innovative. Did I mention, the place was packed? Bravo, thank you!
Best steak I ever had, but the crab / tomato gazpacho for $18 had no identifiable crab.
Incredible all the way around. Steak was off the chains.
Was not impressed
We went for lunch to celebrate our daughter’s condo purchase/settlement. The word was passed around and everyone we encountered was congratulatory and made her feel special. The food and service were excellent and a lovely surprise was the unexpected delivery of complimentary desserts that were delicious. We’ll definitely be back!
It was absolutely wonderful and the food was omg!!!
My husband and I love this restaurant and we frequent Bourbon Steakhouse when we want steak. Usually the service is excellent and the food is delicious. Unfortunately this time, it took 1:15 to get our steak, and once it came out, the meat was stone cold. Which, of course, makes the meal less than enjoyable. The waiter was very nice and apologetic, even gave us free desert and waived our wine corkerage fee. I expect more from Bourbon, and I hope this was a one time mistake.
The food was amazing and delicious. Every single dish was perfectly cooked a d served!!!
The side dishes (brocolini and macaroni and cheese) lacked flavor. The staff were extremely gracious and allowed me to replace those dishes with fries. The steak was cooked to perfection, and paired nicely with the wine. Dessert selections (key lime pie AND the chocolate chip cookies) were delicious. Overall, it was a pleasant experience.
We came to Bourbon Steak for a bachelor party; the groom had always wanted to go, and opted to do an elegant dinner instead of the usual "bachelor party" type activity. Bourbon Steak really exceeded all of our expectations! When we arrived, we were informed that a party had cancelled and we were moved into a private dining room - which was, by itself, absolutely amazing. Greg immediately made recommendations for a cocktail, and walked us through everything we could need to know about the restaurant. He was incredibly thoughtful and thorough in offering suggestions (including table-side cocktails!), and answered all of our questions. He checked on us often, and made sure they were consistently meeting our expectations. Amanda, who was our main server, was absolutely wonderful with us; she was quick with suggestions, and was incredibly patient when we couldn't make up our minds.
The food! We each got a steak, some of us with accompaniments, all of us with sides. The quality of meat was incredible - once you cut through the sear, the knife cut through the meat like butter. The accompaniments were rich and delicious, and the sides were, in their own right, fantastic. The cocktails were excellent, and the whiskey selection was exhaustive.
Overall, we got more than we could have expected, and the groom had the time of his life. He is absolutely smitten and we cannot thank the restaurant, Greg, and Amanda enough for making us feel incredibly special.
The ambiance of the hotel is lovely. The restaurant was nice but not exceptional. The food was good but greatly overpriced. The drinks were so so and also greatly overpriced. There are so, so many fine restaurants in the area. You truly need to stay competitive. If you are going to charge this much for food, you need to have the entire experience be exceptional. Fiola Mare does this right down the street. The server was very nice and enthusiastic but made several mistakes in the order of the delivery and in the check. You can do better for $120 a head.
Great meal with my wife after moving our son into Georgetown Univ. She was a little sad, but the evening turned out great secondary to the great service and excellent meal we enjoyed at Bourbon. The filet with bernaise sauce was perfect, as was the octopus appetizer.
Food was good, but not exceptional. Super slow service, uncomfortable chairs. Very poor value for the money. Only a good place for business, not for special occasion.
We went to celebrate my son’s 18th birthday. Service was extremely slow. Our waiter was very UN- attentive. It totally ruined my sons birthday.
One of DC's finest, from the moment you walk in and until you leave
No lo recomendaría entre tantas otras opciones de comida en Washington
This was my first trip to Bourbon Steak and took a friend of mine for his birthday. The service was excellent and we were very well taken care of. We started with the seafood tower which had lobster, oysters, tuna and mussels and four different sauces followed by two of their ribeye specials and finally their Bourbon chocolate bar. Every course was well prepared as ordered, delicious and served perfectly. The sommelier recommended a fantastic wine and the entire meal was just a treat. Cost is high but well worth it.
We generally have excellent service, but this was the first time where service seemed out of touch a bit. Usually the service is like a well oiled machine with all staff coordinating to make your experience spectacular, but this time it took awhile to get drinks and complementary fries, we had to ask for our bread, and then it took our main dishes forever. We were given complimentary drinks for the delay, which satisfied our growing annoyance, but then we noticed that the complimentary drinks were on our final bill! We had to point it out and it was immediately corrected, but again, the normally well oiled machine was a bit off that night. Praying it was a rare night because we generally love this place.
I've been there three times now and keep going back for two reasons: 1) The food is fantastic. This group does beef like no one else. 2) The service is friendly, knowledgeable, and professional. Spoke with sommelier for a good 10 minutes at the table. Will go back again!
Great service and food. Very attentive as we celebrated our anniversary...pre-theater dinner. On the pricier side, but that’s to be expected at four seasons hotel, all food was perfectly cooked and presented.
We went for our anniversary and it was outstanding!!
Awesome and best steak I have ever had.
I am fairly sure they forgot to put in our food order. It took over 45 minutes from the food order to being served.
Food was excellent as always.
Service was uncharacteristically poor. We had to ask for bread as none was served to us. Waiter told us that "lobster shipment today is poor quality...". Food was dropped on the table with no order or meaning. Lobster pot pie was prepared behind us instead of alongside the table as is normal. Drink cocktails served with no straws. Had to ask "may we please have straws almost ten minutes after receiving the drinks. Servers misidentified food as they were served. ie: "This is NY strip, enjoy" when it was actually rib eye.
The manager took over for the waiter and tended to us as we should have been from the beginning. He tried his best to compensate for the failures. For that I am appreciative, however he only comped us dessert that we did not order and two cocktails. I thought that was surprising considering the volume of food ordered at our table ( four people) and the subpar level of service received. We did not argue, we just paid.
We’ve been to Bourbon Steak many times and NEVER walk away disappointed. This was no exception. We had delicious cocktails, exceptional appetizers and the very best steak. We can’t wait to go back!
The place was great from the very beginning. Elegant attire and a cozy atmosphere just what we were looking for
We were served ice-cold steaks. We sent them back and received the same steaks on heated plates. The steaks were still cold and a man in a suit told us that medium rare steaks are always cold because they aren’t cooked fully through. As a steak eater I was so offended by his condescending reply. Our actual server was very nice and clearly passionate about her job. But for a good steak, go to Maestro’s.
Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming. Had a whiskey flight and the gentleman who brought it over was very knowledgeable. He even recommended a local store where I could purchase the whiskey I tried. Turned out to be a great present for the hubby.
This is one of the District's better steakhouses in my opinion. The service has always been good, though I note from others it is considerably impaired when challenged by a busy crowd. I strongly recommend Mina's signature tuna tartar for an appetizer. The steaks are outstanding and come from a variety of Angus, Wagyu and hybrid based herds. The side dishes vary from adequate to good; the truffled mac & cheese is flavorful. The dessert menu needs work but that is rarely a focus in my opinion when eating this kind of rich meal.
This was my third time to Bourbon Steak and I was celebrating my 1st anniversary. It was our choice because I’ve been telling my girlfriend about how amazing my past experiences were literally since our first date. My first two experiences were individually the two best restaurant experiences I’d ever had. Perfect food, amazing cocktails, delicious food, and attentive and accommodating service. While this last time was a good experience it felt a bit lackluster in comparison. The staff seemed like they had somewhere else to be (I’ll grant that we dined at 8pm on a Saturday, but still). Cocktails were still fantastic, food was great, and it was overall still an extremely enjoyable experience. We may have just caught them on an off night.
Very unimpressive for the price. If the price was half of what it was it would get 3 stars.
This place is a "wow". delicious food, steak tender and flavorful. Creamed corn was unique, having you go back for more lovely dinner rolls with a buttery crust. Great bourbon cocktails, using your choice of bourbon. The octopus was tasty (first time for me to try). Lobster was incorporated in many dishes including mac and cheese, and soup! The dessert was fantastic, with smoked s'mores ( a great surprise!) this is a fun place for fine dining.
Steak was cooked perfectly. But the sides were very small. I have been to many steak houses in the DC area, and this one was just ok. Staff was fantastic and very attentive. I was just not that impressed by the food. The kitchen was running behind, and they did make every effort to make up for the long wait.
