Bourbon Steak - Four Seasons Washington DC Ratings and Reviews
Beautiful restaurant, fantastic food. High quality ingredients and impeccable service. Dinner menu is small and all About the steak. The truffle bread they bring out is heavenly. All Sides are big enough to share, it was too much food and we couldn't take leftovers with us. This is a pricey restaurant but you can see that before you go. Would
Definitely go again.
My wife and I decided to have a special date night in DC and go see a show. We had a good experience at Bourbon Steak in the past and decided to give them a repeat visit. The food was fantastic and frankly exceeded my expectations. We both got the 8oz filet and the steak was prepared perfectly with a fantastic flavor. The appetizers, bread, and dessert were also wonderful. It seems like every time we come here we are pleasantly surprised by something on their menu. On this most recent visit we got the Smoked S'mores dessert and really enjoyed the extra effort they made in the presentation. They clearly decided to do something fun and a little ridiculous to delight us and they succeeded. The service was also excellent and I feel like I rarely get the level of attention that they provide their guests. We went to a good show at the Kennedy Center and overall our date night was a standout success in no small part to the excellent meal we had a Bourbon Steak.
This is my favorite steak house in DC area and have been countless times, however, my last meal was quite disappointing.
1) Not a fan of the updated menu - no more bone-in ribeye unless you want to spend $250+..
2) Ordered a dozen oysters and one was FOUL, where I immediately grabbed my napkin for 'disposal' of the oyster, as now i didn't care to eat a single other oyster and called the manager over to speak to.
3) Lastly, my off-the-bone ribeye (that I ordered rare) came out cold to the touch. I understand a rare steak isn't getting much time on the grill / over, but the steak wasn't even warm. I sent the steak back and they quickly got me new pieces, albeit my wife was done her meal by now.
Was in a sour mood from the bad luck at my favorite DC steakhouse so skipped desert. They took my steak off the bill that was appreciated and profusely apologized. I won't let one poor experience ruin a favorite location - so I'd say it was a one-off case and would certainly go back as I've absolutely loved all my other meals there over the past years. Fingers crossed.
Absolutely incredible experience. Not cheap but worth every penny. Expect to drop at least $250 on a meal for 2, but you will taste the most exceptional foods and drinks during that time. And don't go if you're not very hungry! The restaurant earns every penny by bringing you extra starters and desserts that you are not charged additionally for.
Very good service. Fries are overrated. Apps and dessert were excellent. Entries and sides came out cold but were quickly rectified. Sides were terrific but steaks were only ok compared to some other high end places in DC.
This was our first visit and it was an excellent experience. The decor, food, and service was awesome. The fries were a pleasant surprise with 3 different dipping sauces. The fresh baked bread was a treat. The steak was great and to finish it out with Baked Alaska. I will return on my next visit to DC.
I chose this restaurant to celebrate my sweetie's birthday because it was recommended by a fellow foodie and it did not disappoint. The service was impeccable, the decor was modern yet warm, and the food was excellent.
Appetizer: steak tartar and complimentary fries+dips
Main course: 3oz chuck wagyu and 12oz aged New York strip steak
Sides: Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts
The spicy dip reminded me of my time in Belgium. What a pleasant surprise! The tartar was well balanced in both texture and flavor by the gelee, the potato, and the caviar. Delicious.
The wagyu was perfect with no sauce. The New York strip was seasoned all the way through, super tender, and cooked evenly. I would have both again.
The sides were good, but nothing special--warning for fellow Italians, the noodles don't come al dente.
The mini macaroons were amazing and so was the birthday ice cream. Overall, it was just what I hoped for: an intimate place to celebrate the sweetie's birthday where he could eat an amazing steak. Bourbon steak delivered.
Absolutely amazing! Bourbon was fabulous in every way. We went to celebrate my birthday and the food, the service, the ambiance, was top-notch! I highly recommend the smoked smores dessert, worth every bite! Our wait staff took such great care and they even made me feel super special on my special day right out the gate with a special bday card on the table waiting on me along with a yummy sorbet-type dessert that was covered in edible gold. Wow...just wow! Will definitely return!
If you are looking for a place with good service and good ambience in a good location, this place is for you. If you are looking for a well-prepared quality piece of beef, look elsewhere. This restaurant does NOT know how to prepare steaks. You have been warned.
Appetizers: To start with, they brought out a complimentary French Fries trio dish. Although this is a nice gesture, and tasted really good, it is very easy to fill up on before the main course arrives. Bad idea. Would be better off if served with main course. Caesar salad was good, but because of the huge chunks of lettuce, it was not easy to enjoy.
Steaks: Ordered boneless Rib-eyes (14 oz Chef's selection Wagyu and 16 oz Grass-fed), medium. Steaks were cooked to desired doneness, but arrived at the table only slightly warm, not hot. As if the steaks had been resting for a long time before being brought over. Also, there was no sear on the outer layer of the steaks whatsoever, which severely affected the taste. Had a few bites before bringing this to the attention of our server and one of the managers, neither of whom seemed concerned. Requested to have the steaks sent back to the kitchen to be seared, but still came back without a proper sear, slightly more done and more dry. There is some sauce drizzled on the plate around the steak, which I frankly did not like the taste of. A good steak should be flavorful and delicious by itself; sauces should be optional.
Sides: Mashed potatoes were very good, soft, perfect side to a perfect steak- which they do NOT serve at this restaurant.
Overall, the service did not make up for the poorly-prepared steaks. Huge disappointment. Unless they figure out how to prepare a steak, I will not be back.
Went here for our anniversary dinner. The service was impeccable. The food...well, wasn't. The meat board was bland, my filet mignon wasn't rare, and took a bit of work to cut. My husband's strip steak, ordered bloody and begging for its life, was cooked medium. The manager comped us dessert, as she saw we weren't enjoying our meal, but it was still a disappointment. The drink menu was impressive and tasty, so this might be a good place to go for drinks. Again, service = AMAZING. Food = not amazing.
Excellent food, perfectly prepared. Alert and pleasant service across every position except reception which was busy talking to each other. Steak preparation could not be better. Great desserts. Our early dinner was seated against a window but the room became so noisy we had trouble hearing each other on a four top. Food and wine expensive but worth it for a special occasion.
We went specifically for the Miyazaki A-5 Wagyu which is probably the best beef in the world and were not disappointed with the manner in which it was cooked. Medium rare precise as we requested. Service impeccable, staff knowledgeable and professional, interior beautiful and spotless. As expected, price reflects both the quality of ingredients and the service; but price is appropriate for such levels. No complaints about that. The talking noise level is high for my personal experiences, but this is a regional difference, so expect it.
We have dined at Bourbon Steak for our anniversary for the past couple of years and we were disappointed this time. The halibut was very dry and had to be redone. The broccoli side dish came out Kate and was undercooked. The steak was good but on the rare side. I asked to take the leftover steak home but they forgot to put it in our take home bag. This is a very expensive restaurant with great service but the food needs to be perfect for the value. We probably will go to BLT Steak next time.
Bourbon Steakhouse is on top of my Favorite List of Restaurants. I've been here many times and they consistently give good service, excellent food, great wine list and I truly my money's worth. I highly recommended this place to my friends, colleagues and family.
First time at a Michael Mina restaurant. Lots of steak choices in DC but went with Bourbon based on reviews and location as well as a review of the menu. The three types of duck-fat fries brought after seating is a nice touch, as well as the truffle rolls. Menu is top notch for beef and sides. I believe appetizers could do some work, we tried the avocado salad, was good but not great. Service was solid, staff knows the menu and are quality service staff. Wasn't overly busy but we did have to wait for a while at various times for drinks or attention. Overall, nice restaurant, nice location, good food.
We were celebrating our anniversary and the team at Bourbon Steak made it extra special. Great food and service from the whole team but especially from Talon, our server. We couldn't have had a better meal or anniversary dinner. Great place for a special occasion.
Excellent, excellent, excellent!! From the service, to the food to the drinks, everything was excellent! I took my fiancé there for her birthday and we both were very impressed. I let them know when I called to make the reservation that it was birthday celebration and they had a birthday card on the table when we arrived and brought a free desert at the end of our meal. The service from the wait staff was impeccable. This is a very top class restaurant and one that I highly recommend.
