Bourbon Steak - Four Seasons Washington DC Ratings and Reviews
Amazing service, nice ambiance, but the food was so-so. The tuna tartare was under-seasoned. The steak was good, but really nothing special. In fact, we liked the brussels sprouts (which were very tasty) more than the steak. Perhaps one of those restaurants where you pay for the service and ambiance more than the food.
I have been to this restaurant in the past and was so impressed that I returned with guests to celebrate New Year’s Day. There are great steak choices and I am impressed with the variety of sauces and accompaniments. I must complement them on the assortment of fries that are served as an appetizer, the truffle mac n cheese, as well as the delicious bread. The wine menu is impressive and the Sommelier made great suggestions.
We went for NYE and we were quite disappointed. The service was great, but the food was so-so, and I can’t stomach so-so food for a $500+ price tag. The ingredients were repetitive, the steak was cold and clearly had been taken out of the fridge just before cooking instead of being brought to room temperature, and also several of the dishes o the prix fixe menu were bland and underwhelming. We had to reseason the food after it was served, which I just don’t expect to have to do at a quality restaurant at this price point. I had really been looking forward to dining here, but I was severely disappointed.
We went to Bourbon steak for New Year's Eve. Although they said it was a tasting meal I don't think it really registered with the rest of my party. The small portions of the food for the price of 195.00 each made the other members of my group angry and frustrated. I am all for companies making profits but I think that Bourbon steak could have provided a regular dinner and still turned a profit without having people be so unsatisfied. I doubt that I will ever return due to this incident.
This was the worst dinner experience ever...but the sad part of it was it was New Year’s Eve and my husband and I were so excited about going to the Four Season’s It was a 7 course meal and each course was the size of 1 bite. The gnocchi dish had 3 gnocchi on a huge plate. The first course was a Umi ice cream. Gosh, disgusting. I mean I enjoy innovative ideas. But I think good taste should be part of the experience. The foie gras the second course consisted of something floating in dirty water and a mushroom. The pieces de resistance - bass- was a tiny piece of fishy tasting fish. The steak, the second to
Last course, was ok. We got french fries as compensation for the bad tasting courses. Dessert was Japanese cheesecake - a piece of blue cheese and tiny muffin with some kind of syrup. Shame on you for offering this meal. We paid 195.00 per person. Yes, we were discounted 25% because we were not happy with the meal. But it was worth 0. Will we go back? NEVER
The service was polite but inadequate and very slow. It took 20 minutes to get a cocktail after we sat down. When one person in our party ordered the bartenders choice, no one explained what it was.
The seafood tower was fine, but we’ve had much better at many other local restaurants. The black bass entree was inedible. The fish was not fresh at all, or it was a bad piece. Afterwards, no one came by - I would have expected the manager to stop over.
Our steak was not cooked properly at all. At least it was significantly undercooked vs. over cooked (that would be worse).
It was a disappointment to say the least. I would recommend any number of other local steak houses over this.
Didn’t get seated for ONE HOUR after our reservation. We were there at 7.45 promptly for our reservation. The food was lousy- we sent back two baked potatoes that were verging on raw. The filet was so tough, we sent it back- the manager did tell us it was a problem with the cut. The manager did not come to us at the end of the meal to apologize for our ruined evening.
The Best steak house in Washington D.C. The service was tremendous and the food is one of a kind. Great value for the price. And the seasonal eggnog was wonderful, my wife ordered the lobster pot pie. And she enjoyed every bit. I honestly can’t say enough about this spectacular restaurant. As anyone can see the presentation speaks for itself. And yes the food was great😊
I should have taken the negative reviews seriously. Our experience today was very disappointing. The service was really slow and our waitress was actually unfriendly. I explained that t his was an annual reunion of friends and a special occasion and she didn’t really respond. The food was just ok, we had to ask for the cocktail menu, later for another round and for our lunch orders to be taken. We used to like Bourbon Steak but we are not going to return anytime soon.
The service and food at Bourbon Steak was impeccable. The steaks were perfectly cooked with just the right amount of char. There is an extensive wine list, with which the sommelier was extremely helpful. Prices were on the steep side, which is why I only found the value to be good.
This meal was a disappointment in contrast to our prior experiences. The kitchen was completely disorganized and the servers did little to remedy the mess. We ordered three steak Cobb salads. All three came without any steak, or bacon, or hard-boiled eggs. While the managers were apologetic and offered free desserts, they could not make up for the extraordinarily poor performance in the kitchen! We'll try again in the future, but are in no particular hurry!
My wife and I spent our 1st Anniversary here and the experience was amazing! I’m kicking myself because I cannot remember my waiters name. He was a tall, bassed voiced, bearded gentle man. His knowledge of the menu and cuisine exceeded any expectation I have ever had dining out. To top off the night we were given every desert from the menu complimentary!
We will definitely be back
Excellent service, food, and ambiance. The server felt that the kitchen was taking longer that it should have to prepare the food even though we felt everything was in order and provided additional complimentary sides. This was not necessary although appreciated. The manager also stopped by to aplogize.....again unnecessary.
As always the service was good and the food delicious. However, the pricing on sides etc is almost offensive. Clearly they are only going for business clients. For the price of the entrees a side should be included. I go to many many expensive restaurants for pleasure and business and I just found the pricing offensive. A $60 steak that you pay $14 for a side is a little ridiculous
My husband and I had a fantastic dinner to celebrate his birthday! The food was delicious and so were the cocktails we had. The service was outstanding, they prepared a birthday card and a small treat with a candle. The cookies we got with our to go bags were amazing as well!!
The first time I came here, the service and food was fantastic!! So we decided to try Bourbon Steak for Thanksgiving—incredibly disappointing. The food service was incredibly slow, and our food was cold. While staff tried to redeem themselves for the cold food, it was too late as the mood was soured. We will not be returning. But thank you to staff for being apologetic and trying to make up for the cold food.
Fantastic classic steakhouse. A bit on the pricey side, but well worth it. This is a no gimmicks place with fantastic food and a great atmosphere. Utmost attention to detail and flawless execution highlight the value of the restaurant. Also, went out of their way to wish us a happy anniversary. Five stars all the way!
Only my dry aged strip steak approached the quality we can get at home. Portions were ridiculously large and very expensive for the experience. Noise level was too high for easy conversation and service was not terribly attentive to detail. Disappointing evening, capped with a damaged tire that we suspect was caused by the valet service. That added another $400 to our evening. We will not return.
Food was good, but they brought the salad out the same time as the steak. For the money I would expect better. I didn't want to say anything at the time to ruin the night with my family. For the price I expect perfection. They fell short.
