Bourbon Steak - Four Seasons Washington DC
Signature dishes include Sanuki Wagyu, Kagoshima Wagyu, Virginia NY Strip, Michael’s Lobster Pot Pie and a trio of duck fat French fries for every table. In the bar do not miss specialty drinks such as The Potomac, a variation of the classic dirty martini prepared with a house-made white truffle brine.

Poor quality Porterhouse
Steaks always cooked to perfection. Complimentary fries and bread are very tasty! Staff attentive and on point!
Can hardly wait to go again. Great food, outstanding people from parking through waiter. A bit pricey, and worth it. Would take anyone there.
Very slow bar service. Asked the server to hold our appetizers (all cold dishes) until our cocktails came and we had some time to enjoy them. Didn’t work. Drinks and appetizers showed up together. Ordered a $60 steak medium and it was overcooked. Server replaced the steak but by then the rest of party was almost finished with their meal. Very very expensive wine list. For a restaurant inside a Four Seasons our experience was very disappointing.
The best steaks in DC and the best service. There’s a reason why I go back almost every time I’m in Washington.
Best meal we've ever had... Chef Mina absolutely perfected every aspect of the Wagyu NY strip, Truffle Mac & Cheese, and the Brussels Sprouts that we thoroughly enjoyed. Not to mention the Smoked S'mores were incredible. Highly recommend!
Service was inattentive and steak was underwhelming at best.
The service was wonderful. I ordered the wagyu 7+ filet blue and it arrived closer to medium temperature. It looked like they tried to do black and blue but it was thoroughly unsuccessful. I politely sent it back and the second time the steak arrived at the proper temperature. At a place that boasts a celebrity chef, Japanese wagyu steak, and $80+ cuts of meat I expected that they would have known how to cook a blue steak the first time. I don’t like sending things back.
I’ve visited the Bourbon Steak in Nashville and was worried this location wouldn’t compare due to some of the negative reviews but I was so wrong! We came here for valentines days and it was absolutely amazing. The menu was pretty diverse for a steak house, and everything we ordered was more than perfect! Steaks were great and cooked perfectly and I would def recommend getting the crab cake as it was one of the best ones I’ve had in a hot sec. The service was also amazing, everyone was very kind and we were checked on many times throughout the night. They also made sure our glasses were never empty and all our courses were timed perfectly. The only thing I might have been disappointed in was the drinks, they were really great but not as great as the ones I had at the Nashville location. Would highly recommend for any special occasion or date night as it has a very romantic upscale atmosphere, and has a moderate noise level to keep it lively but your still able to have intimate conversations without struggling to hear over music or other conversations. Definitely pricey but well worth it.

The Grand Hour
Absolute perfect dining experience - exceptional quality of food, service, and ambience!
Great Steak and service!
This is the third time we have been here and probably the least distinctive. Yes, it was Saturday night, but, the food was a bit off.
The ceasar was excellent the caviar on the potato was fabulous, the hot seafood appetizer had crab was an uneven portion and the shrimp were undercooked. The oysters and lobster were very good but as a special item it should have been perfect. The sides mushrooms, spinach, and potatoes were exceptional. The steaks although flavorful did not arrive hot. That is why I could not give a 5 star rating. The banana dessert was fabulous as well as the cookies. For the Four Seasons and it’s reputation it should have been outstanding. The service and som were excellent
Loved it— the meal was amazing, good options to satisfy all.
Uno de los mejores restaurantes para carne de gran calidad de Washington y de todo EUA. El trío de Wagyu es espectacular al igual que el servicio con una gran carta de vinos.
This is a lovely spot for a business meeting. It is, however, way overpriced and the food is good - not great. I took a potential client here and she was nervous about ordering once she saw the menu. I had to make it clear that I was paying for lunch. A lunch menu shouldn't be so expensive that it makes the client nervous. By the way, the salad was fine. The chopped salad at the Lafayette at the Hay Adams is much better, cheaper and the service there is amazing. Try to catch up.
Avid restaurant eater
We ordered 2 filet mignon steaks and they both came out cold to our table. We sent them back and when they were brought back to us they were lukewarm at best. The manager did comp our bill for the two steaks but I have never had an experience like that one at a place that was supposed to be so high end. We have eaten at the top steakhouses around the world and this was the first time we had top end quality steak served to us cold. The server for our table was great and the drinks, wedge salad and crab cake appetizer were good but the whole experience was spoiled by the main course
VERY EXPENSIVE! Quality of the steak was good, but not exceptional - especially considering the price. If you are a whiskey or bourbon aficionado - they have an excellent selection. Restaurant is very loud, feels casual because there are no table cloths - in my opinion - lacks ambience and does not feel like a fine dining restaurant. Truffle bread and the French Fry "starter" was very good. Overall, I'd rather go to the Capital Grille - food is just as good and the prices are not inflated.
We were disappointed in our dining event here. We have previously dined here and rated everything at the top rating. The service was slow with the wait staff failing to bring bread until the end of the meal and did not refill water glasses. When we last fined here it was Christmas and the restaurant was very busy with top notch service. This time the restaurant was less busy with slower service We know that Bourbon could do better
steak very good, french fries a nice touch, stay away from desserts
We didn’t feel like eating steaks so we ordered a bunch of apps. The waiter asked if we wanted to order steaks so they could clear the menus and when we told him we were sticking with Apps he walked off in a huff....he wasn’t very enthusiastic from then on.
Love this place always a great time and great food!
Food was very good, service excellent. As good as those things were, I’d expect something remarkable for $600 for dinner for 2 and it didn’t quite reach those levels. Steak tartare and ahi tartare very good, but with the ahi being an ‘MM signature’ dish I’d expected more- the habanero dust wasn’t detectable, when it really could have made the dish pop. Steaks were good, but I’d recommend the Angus over the 7X wagyu, given it’s half the price. Wine and service excellent.
As always an excellent experience. Excellent food and discreet, top notch, knowledgeable service
Not impressed by the service at all. Waiter was slow and did not come by to check on us often enough. Our drinks were empty for quite a while before he checked back to see if we wanted more. Also, we both ordered Waygu steaks which were not any better than regular steak I’ve had at high end chain steak houses. Disappointing for sure.
Simply put, the best service period! Food to match. Wonderful atmosphere. One of my favorite experiences globally! Fortunate enough to be close by and visit often! Thank you for another wonderful experience.
Let me preference this review that I am a lover of steakhouses and dinned at BS many times before. This particular experience is for their prefix NYE dinner. I am a huge fan of Michael Mina and frequent Bourbon Steak and International Smoke a lot, therefore I was ecstatic when I got a last-minute reservation to their $207pp prefix NYE dinner in DC where we vacationed. I knew we would have a phenomenal time. Although the waiter was very pleasant and the live music was entertaining, I was not pleased with the food. The menu was very limited and had a lot of upcharges to their popular items (the menu is already over $200pp). But again, as much as I love Bourbon steak (in LA), I decided to stay and make the most of it. Besides the limited menu, I was displeased by how my steak came out lukewarm. I asked the waiter to have the chef warm it as it was prepped well, but the temperature was cold. She quickly handled my request, but again the steak wasn't hot and the meat was very chewy. So much so, you did not want to swallow it. I thought it was my steak, but my boyfriend's choice was very similar. The "free" food choices sent out were subpar. A lot of carb choices and the french fries came out cold. Finally, I asked if we could have an earlier reservation and was instructed that they were committed for the evening. The restaurant had many empty tables and after talking to other diners, there were other tables available before we came for our 9:30 pm reservation. For the price, I would say, our overall experience was not worth it for the price. I would rather pay that price for food items that I would like to choose. Finally, NO ONE did a count down. We were handed a free glass of champagne (which was also warm) and then finally someone screamed.. "its past 12!" :) We made the most out of our experience, enjoyed the live music but I would not recommend for NYE next year.
Steak was great ... scallop dinner awesome ... “filler” sides ok but nothing to write home about. As expected drinks were overpriced but it was New Years and not a surprise! I’d try again in a non fixed menu night to explore better, made to order better appetizers.
Had 16 oz ribeye and was cooked/seasoned perfectly.
Outstanding service beginning with the manager through the checkin desk.
Great venue for New Year’s. Exceeds reputation.
The staff was great, but the food wasn’t even close to being worth the price. Me, my Wife, and my 7 year old Daughter had one appetizer, a bowl of buttered noodles for my daughter, and a meal for my Wife and I. I paid $350 for a meal I wouldn’t have paid $10 for, had I tasted it first. Menu looked really good, as did the pictures. The food was just way off, and very bland.
I sincerely appreciate you taking the time to share your valuable feedback in regards to your recent experience at Bourbon Steak Washington D.C. We strive to provide excellence in all aspects of the dining experience and will use this feedback as a way to grow and improve ourselves. This is certainly not the standard we hold ourselves to and will be sure to discuss this with our team. Thank you again. David Van Meerbeke General Manager
It was great. Always. Fabulous experience.
Very disappointing. We were two and were seated next to tables of 14 and 10 that were clearly in a holiday celebration mood. Could not even hear each other talk, and at times, as the party tables mingled they literally were standing over us speaking in very loud voices as we tried to eat.
Food was ok — have not been to Bourbon Steak in DC before, but have been in Nashville several times. Food there was much better. Steaks seemed tasteless, and there was a smoky tasking crust. Others in DC are better.
Just a lot to spend for an evening with no ambiance and middling food.
The overall experience at Bourbon Steak did not match our expectations. While our son said it was his favorite steak, the long wait to be seated made us feel less than welcome or excited to be at the restaurant. We enjoyed the art in the lobby, outside, and in the restaurant while we patiently waited for our table. It was our only experience in DC over the week where the timing of reservations did not seem to be honored. It may have been off because it was Christmas night. Once seated, we enjoyed the food and our waiter.
The service was phenomenal! The wine, superb. The food, not so much. The scallops were tasteless. The tenderloin was tough. The sides, meh.
Nit too many places open on Christmas day.
First the steak was raw, then it came back overcooked. The Panna cotta with carrot cake tasted like lead. I constantly had to ask for my water to be filled, and had to pour my own wine (which one ought not have to do at a high-end restaurant). The restaurant is also extremely noisy, because it is right next to the bar which plays loud club music.
I like this restaurant but was disappointed when we dined at Christmas. The service was excellent and up to the Four Seasons quality. The table at the top level was very deep making conversation difficult. My guest did not care for her Steak Tartare, and I thought my Caesar Salad was horrible, especially the strange presentation.
The staff was extremely attentive. At the start of the meal the waiter inquired about allergies and help steer us away from food choices that could be problematic. The salad, steak and baked potato were perfectly done. We can’t wait for a return visit
We've been to Bourbon Steak a few times - mostly to enjoy cocktails and snacks at the bar. It is always excellent and this time was special because it was my teenager's first steak house experience. Christmas Eve was made very special with the amazing meal. My personal favorite are the truffled dinner rolls. To die for!
One of the best restaurants I have been to in ages!
Amazing restaurant, just a tad bit loud for my taste. Food is cooked to perfection every time!
