Bourbon Raw insinuates an extensive bourbon selection and a great "raw" bar. Drinks were solid. Oysters were dry, not freed from the shell, and just didn't look appealing. After they were served, we made dinner reservations at another place. Server was fine. It's at 4th Street live, so surrounding area is busy. I will not be returning for any reason.
We had a great dinner. Food was delicious. We will be back.
Overall impression was a place that is struggling to do upscale casual and is missing the mark.
Food was amazing and priced reasonably. We had a great time.
Went there for Easter Sunday Brunch. Good food, great service and Mimosa's. Will definitely go back! The overly loud music is a bit off putting though. Even the 24 yr old with us (who normally prefers his music loud) grouched about it.
The seafood tasted old not fresh. You have to to try hard to mess up shrimp lobster and oysters. Everything was either dry or chewy. Major disappointment
I was surprised, after dining at Bourbon Raw, that their reviews were not better. We had a reservation for four at 6 pm for dinner with my parents. We were seated immediately, and our server was attentive throughout the evening. The restaurant was clean, and the food was really good southern-style comfort food. My father raved about the brisket sandwich, and the chicken and dumplings were delicious. The one constructive piece of feedback I have is the chairs - they feel like they're made of wicker. I weigh 120lbs soaking wet, and I was convinced I was going to crash right through the bottom. Overall, good meal, would return!
Portions were small for the price. Tables were way to close together. No privacy allowed for our table due to that.
The wait for our food was 1hour & 20 minutes, we thought that they had forgot about us. The couple 2 tables away from us came after us & was eating way before us. The Manager never came to our table to explain what was going on. The waiter just kept saying SORRY it's taking so long. We will never go there again, or recommend it.
I reserved the restaurant for 8 of my colleagues to have a dinner together. The food was good as every body had their plates done completely. The only slight shortcoming was lack of local beer on tap.
It is a very nice place to meet and have a conversation without too much loud music.
The Smoked ribs were something less than I could have made at home. Not fall off the bone and they poured 1/4" of sauce on them!
Food was very good and the waitress was very attentive.
Place was decent, but uninspiring considering the price for food. Service was probably the best I’ve ever had.
We all had seafood and it did not taste fresh.
The Quality of the food did not match the price .
There was nothing bad about our experience at Bourbon Raw - it was just not great. Which was disappointing because it was for my spouse's birthday while we were in Louisville for the weekend. The cocktails were mediocre, and the food was ok (is gravy on fried chicken a Louisville thing? because it made it soggy). Our server was very nice, and it was fun to sit outside and watch the excitement of Fourth St.
while the wait staff were knowledgeable and cordial, service was quite slow. entrees took almost an hour after placing order. place was not full. good bourbon selection. we had eaten here a year ago for the first time, and that time was a great experience. This one was not.
Had a great experience. Arrived in time for happy hour and sampled several appetizers all delicious. Service was friendly but a tad slow.
Took 3hours to get food:(
I want to love this place because of the great location inside 4th Street Live. We sat at an outdoor table and enjoyed the people watching. Loved the vibe of the place, but the service was poor, and the food was just so-so. I love dining in 4th Street Live area of downtown Louisville, but would probably not go here again. Disappointed in the overall experience.
Ordered a Mimosa and a Bloody Mary and they were $10 each. The mimosa wasn't worth $5. The fried fish platter on the lunch menu was just so so, I've had better. Our waiter was nice and on top of things so I would give him a 5. We really thought they had brunch on Saturday and that was the main reason that we went but once we arrived and found out it was only on Sunday we decided to give it a try. Wish we had tried somewhere else though
Very disappointed. Went there for Louisville Burger Week. First time going I was told they were not serving the burger until 4pm that day. So, I was like ok. Decided to stay for brunch. Bad decision. Ordered a very simple dish, biscuits and gravy and 2 eggs over easy. Gravy was cold. Eggs were scrambled. I specifically asked if they were serving a certain number of burgers each day, and was told no, they were making burgers when ordered. So I made reservations for 6:30 that evening, 2 1/2 hours after they started offering the burger. When we got there, they were not busy. So I'm thinking this is perfect. When out server come to our table and asked what we'd like everyone at the table said the burger. And we were told they were out of the burger. Very very disappointing. Most likely will not go back.
On vacation from New York and this place hit all our expectations. Just a great find not to be missed
Marginal at best. Good for bar food and 4th street scene.
We went to Bourbon Raw for Father's Day per my dad's request. It eas, easy to get to and our waiter Bobby was very attentive and knowledgeable. I got the smoked ribs and they were okay. I was looking forward to getting the short ribs when our waiter came back and said they were out and would not be ready for another 2 hours. That was disappointing especially for being my first time there. I did enjoy my drink and their selection of bourbon was phenomenal. Overall there was nothing particularly bad, but nothing particularly good either.
Entree was served when we were only halfway through our appetizer. Outside of that it was fine but that spoiled the enjoyment of having an appetitizer.
They had NO staff - only literally like 3 people working with a restaurant full of patrons. Don't take reservations, if you can't be of service.
There were only 2 tables sat when I got in - told them I had a res and wanted to sit at the bar. They didn't check me in, so I didn't get credit. Waited 25 minutes for anyone to come up - ordered a drink and food ... Got neither (and didn't see the bartender again) for 35 more minutes. He came back, forgot about me (with 8 people in the whole place) so I walked out. An hour of my day off wasted.
Reservation 5:30. First dinner choice 30-40 minute wait (kitchen forgot to put ribs on). Going to theater so can't wait. Second choice fried chicken. Chicken arrived smothered in gravy so crispy chicken soggy. No gravy on mashed potatoes & they were cold-not even room temp! Manager tried very hard to amend for problems so gave free dessert. Had "Turtle" cheesecake described as chocolate & carmel cheesecake w/nuts (visions of Cheesecake Factory-YUM). It was nothing more than plain cheesecake with chocolate & Carmel sauce drizzled on top. Meal VERY disappointing. On up side, other meal (seafood) good & staff really did try to address problem.
This was supoosed to be a Mother's day brunch. It turned out to be a horrible experience. We were seated for about 30 minutes when our server advised us that they were out of sausage and eggs. We asked how was this possible for brunch? The server informed us that the manager went to CVS to purchase more eggs. We asked to speak with the manager and he was very apologetic for the mishap. He offered to comp our entire meal. We then waited for another forty five minute for food that came out cold, over cooked omelets and tasteless! Needless to say this wasn't a happy Mother's day!
I made reservations at Bourbon RAW at 4th Street Live for noon on Mother's Day 2017. After waiting 15 minutes before any server even approached our table we finally got our drinks. We ordered our meal but after waiting an hour and a half to be served, we ended up walking out. Think twice before going to this place.
great food - great service! would recommend to anyone!
Enjoyed a meal at Bourbon Raw after a day at the racetrack and it did not disappoint! We loved the Shrimp and Grits and also enjoyed the goat cheese skillet. Great service!
Being in town for the Derby, our group decided to try this restaurant. The service was fantastic and the food from appetizer to entree was delicious. Would definitely recommend this restaurant!
Best Bloody Mary I've ever had! That's not just because it was $2.
Our server was exceptional. The oysters were delicious. The rest of the food was solid. I reserve five stars for exceptional. Overall, an enjoyable meal.
We went for the Easter brunch. We found the menu online and made reservations. The online menu advertised $15 pitchers of Bloody Mary's and Mimosas, which weren't on the menu when we arrived. Also $1 oysters were advertised online for the Easter brunch. They had NO oysters at all, and there was only one other table with people, so they didn't sell out that morning. The potatoes used in the breakfast hash were old and rubbery and the over easy eggs couldn't be cut with a fork because they were so overcooked. Last but not least, the service was almost non-existent. We're from out of town and will never return to the Bourbon Raw when we return to Louisville.
We had reservations for 5 for my daughters birthday, Easter Sunday. The brunch menu was awesome. Service was quick and pleasant. Our food was done timely and everyone was very pleased, satisfied, and full. The menu Is very reasonably priced. We will definitely be back for brunch again.
Very watered down drinks combined with a very limited but very expensive menu. Many better options downtown. We will not be back.
Nice restaurant, food was pretty good and service was ok.
