Food was good, waiter was not always available. A request for a second glass of wine was never served.
Flat bread skillet was terrible, just tasted liked melted goat cheese. The glass of beer my husband got had lipstick on it, silverware and table was dirty as well.
Service was beyond slow, food was cold. One member in our party was given fish that literally blew up in the microwave and didn’t bring a new piece out until we were leaving. Then wanted to charge for it. The restroom was filthy. Very unpleasurable experience.
Overall ok experience. Wait time was extremely too long to receive meal.
There was a concert at 4th street the night we went, which was awesome because we essentially were at the concert while eating dinner. With that being said, the service was slow, the server wasn't pleasant, we had to remind her several times to bring drinks out and the food is overpriced. We waited for at least five minutes at the host stand waiting for someone to seat (or acknowledge) us despite having reservations. Portions are small and not super flavorful. Still a cool and convenient restaurant if you are out on 4th street.
Second time here in a month! Happened upon Bourbon Raw a couple weeks ago when a place I won't mention across the street made us wait more than 10 minutes without even taking a drink order. Their loss was our gain! Bourbon RAW has a great selection of small plates, entrees, and wonderful seafood offerings.
The wife and I opted to share small plates last time and finished with a decadent dessert.
This time, my father was down to visit--and looking for a fish fry. We brought him here, and he couldn't have been happier.
Excellent Mussels, and a great burger cooked to order for me.
Wife went light, splitting a goat cheese platter with us and a caesar salad for herself.
Great service on both visits, wonderful space. Outdoor seating.
Food was all very dry and over cooked. Service was extremely slow. Table for 13 was not even set up upon arrival....
Went for a date night with my boyfriend. We had an incredible time from start to finish. Our server was incredible and very attentive. The food came out fast and was delicious. We started with the seafood platter appetizer which was to die for! Then I had a 10 oz filet that was cooked and seasoned perfectly. My boyfriend got the fried chicken which was amazing! For dessert we tried the salted caramel brownie, which was served with ice cream and was a dessert lovers paradise. I highly recommend Bourbon Raw to anyone. What a great experience!
Went to bourbon raw before a concert at the palace. Our waitress was fantastic! The smoked old fashion was perfect- and quite a show in its own right!
The food wasn’t really anything special. It wasn’t bad exactly, just not great. There were 6 of us and we ordered several things. The fish platter was fairly greasy. The grilled chicken was okay, but lacked seasoning. We also had the short rib sliders (good), the cauliflower (okay, a little bland), bacon jalapeño dip (too goopy), lettuce wraps (too hard to eat), feta dip (okay) and the Caesar salad (good).
It was really loud, but there was a taco festival going on outside, so I won’t hold that against them.
In the end, great place for a drink (if you want to go to fourth street) but I’d go somewhere else for dinner.
Not a fan
Food was very very bland and needed salt and there were no salt shakers on the tables
The hot chicken sandwich was definitely not hot and I’m not someone who necessarily wants things burning hot but this had no heat
I did like my lima beans a lot but could have used salt! My husband got the Hot Brown...not open face and there was no cheese in the Mornay sauce, it tasted like raw flour and it needed salt! His blue cheese cole slaw had no taste of blue cheese, basically tasted like wet cabbage.
The restaurant was definitely chic but it was absolutely freezing and very very loud!
Our apologies that you were not happy with your experience! Salt and pepper shakers are given to guest by request rather than leaving them on the table. So sorry that you felt everything needed salt. We wish that you had voiced that to you server as well as your unhappiness with the temperature of the restaurant. We would've been more than happy to turn down that A/C. Unfortunately there was a concert on the street, so volume is out of our control.
We were visiting and heard great things about this restaurant. It is in the middle of 4th street live - so we expected it to be busy and a “happening” place. When we got there, it took almost 15 minutes for someone to greet us, in a pretty empty restaurant. There was a concert on 4th street, so everyone in the restaurant was against the windows and only having cocktails. Once we went to order; they were out of almost everything on the entire menu - all the way down to the hot sauce and lettuce! Once we found the select few items they had, our steak kabobs came out completely RAW and not edible. We sent them back, but weren’t even offered a replacement. This was the worst dining experience I’ve ever had!
We apologize for your unpleasant experience. We had a much higher business volume than expected for Memorial Day weekend. That being said, we were also unable to get standard deliveries being that it was a holiday weekend. Unfortunately that resulted in running out of several menu items. We are sorry that you were unhappy with your kabobs. Please email the gm at lizh@bourbonraw. We'd like to offer you dinner on us.
Food was good. Service was not good. Took forever for our waiter. Disappeared multiple times. Try to pay, dropped off check, over 20 min later had to go up to someone at the bar to run our card to pay and get out of there.
They were out of steaks and seafood....which is more than half of their menu
We are privately owned, therefore allot budgets based on the business we expect to do rather than having unlimited spending such as a food chain. With us being located in a tourist area, people tend not to make reservations which leaves us with unexpected high volume from large walk-in groups at times. That unfortunately results in running out of menu items. We hope that you understand that it is not ideal, nor does it please us to run out of items and try us again!
Half of the food menu was unavailable. Additionally, 4 of the bourbons on the menu we requested were out.
We had an amazing meal and evening at Bourbon Raw. It was my first visit and my husband’s second. The wait staff was extremely attentive and the food was nothing short of incredible. We will definitely be back!
Amazing restaurant with a TRUE Kentucky feel. Food is FABULOUS!! Be sure and get the Strawberry Shortcake!!’ It WILL NOT disappoint!!!
Too expensive for the quality of food. Also, the waiter wasn’t too friendly.
We came at lunch on a Saturday, close to when the menu was changing from lunch to dinner. The service was subpar. It took our server quite a bit to check on us and we were practically the only people in the place. Furthermore, the food is nothing to write home about. There are a million other restaurants in Louisville that are far more with visiting. We had the tacos and a build your own salad. In my salad, the avocados were already brown when it got to my table and the lettuce was shabby. The tacos were only ok- the chicken taco was essentially flavorless and there was more slaw on the tacos than meat. Save yourself the heartache, go somewhere else. We had a gift certificate which is really the only reason we went...
We had a good experience eating here. We were seated promptly, served promptly, and the food was served in a reasonable time. Our server was on top of things and was friendly. The food was hot and cooked to order. My only complaint is that it was a cold outside and they seated us at a table where the blowers were coming down directly on us and the heat coming out was also cool. We would eat here again.
Sat at a long table for six which easily became 8! Ordered the bourbon flight and ribs. The ribs were a dry rub with BBQ on the side and were the most flavorful and tender moist ribs I’ve ever eaten. I didn’t even want to put the barbecue on and was grateful it was served on the side because the meat was so flavorful all by itself. It easily fell off the bone and you could break the pieces apart with your fork. It was totally perfect. And sitting at the table that was near the outside seating was just perfect to be part of the restaurant yet near the fourth Street experience. The servers were attentive, fun and friendly.
website oversold the room. Not very nice and very plain. Drinks were sugary and not as described in menu. We sent back our drinks after mentioning the issue with the waiter. We had to prompt him. I immediately ordered a second drink and left my full drink on the table. No response from the waiter. Quite a few items we not available. My broiled oysters came to the table cold and bacon rubbery to the touch. Waiter would deliver food and leave immediately - seemed he wanted to avoid questions. One of my worst dinner experiences in quite some time.
Service was great but the food was just okay for the price.
We made 5pm reservations for my girlfriend 50th birthday but they didn't know we were coming. I ordered the bone in rib eye but they were out so I had to order something else. I ordered the ribeye for $41 and it had gravy on it and no flavor or seasoning. We had to put salt and pepper on our steaks as well as A1 steak sauce. Ive never had a steak at this price that required steak sauce. Longhorn don't even require steak sauce. Then I ordered the oyster Rockefeller fot $22 but it had barely any oyster mostly greens. The fried green tomatoes were very hard and had no flavor. The shrimp cocktail was great and the fried hushpuppy was wonderful. Overall the place is not a steak place for anyone who likes flavor.
Party of 9.. I even called ahead after using app. They still weren’t ready for us. Put us in the back room. Took 14 minutes to get drinks. Waiter forgot one whole order .. and 2 steaks cane out under cooked. The 20% added gratuity was way to much for the service.
Always a good place for a social dinner or date night.
Too touristy And loud with dj outside. Couldn’t sit outside due to noise of dj. Food just ok
Seated in the back, weird column between us that people walked thru which was on the rude side because there was barely enough room and their bottom was table height. Food was good, crab shrimp dip good, pulled pork VERY good, slaw creamy and delish
The food is very good. I would recommend this restaurant.
Everything we tried was delicious. The service was amazing and we were able to get in and out in time to make our concert!
My mother ordered the chicken and dumplings but it was more like dumpling soup with a surprise single piece of chicken. I ordered the short rib which came which a large pile of mashed potatoes and three very small pieces of meat, one of which was two-thirds fat. While both dishes were overall delicious I wouldn't return because I could find an equally tasty meal with but at a much better value. Also when paying $90+ for a meal I would appreciate a much more tasteful decor instead of a single tiny fake succulent found in the targets dollar section and some random horse and bourbon-themed paintings from the local home goods.
Great for a date night! Not too crowded, menu options were good. Great service. Plenty of food. We really enjoyed ourselves!
Service was great! Food was delicious!
Food was excellent. Service was exceptional and the location was great for a large party of 14. Well done!
Food is overpriced for what you get. Bourbon selection is decent, but they are very limited on other alcohols.
The menu is very nice, and the array of specialty cocktails is great.
Celebrating our birthday weekend.....great service and great food!
Food was pretty good, my main complaint is I went specifically to try the French dip brisket and when I got there is was no longer on the menu, how ever the online menu here showed it. I was so disappointed I was kind of let down from the get go, but had I not been it was a very nice establishment .
I went on Valentines Day. The server was great. The food was crap and it cost 107 before tip. To start things off, the appetizer were not good. I've had the goat cheese dip before and it was fanominal. On this date it was way over heated, the fat started to separated from the cheese. I had to keep stirring it so it was a dippable consistancy. The my Fiance ordered the chicken and waffle tacos no pecans. It arrived with pecans. Next, the entrees, I've never had a new york strip so thin. It was way over cooked. I asked for Medium Rare and recieved medium well. The kitchen ran out of green beans and beside asparagus(which I hate) they were completely out of Veggies because they only serve two type anyway. You revamped the menu and took off the raspberry cheesecake, which made me highly disappointed. So we left and had dessert at the Fudgery. And Don't even get me started on my Fiance's food. He ordered a burger with an assortment of topping. It came out cold and missing the some of the toppings. He only ate half of it. Now I went to this restuarant for my Anniversary last August and really enjoyed myself. I also get Valentines day is extremely busy for any restuarant in Louisville. Alot of restuarant did well, so this is no excuse. Again I will mention that my server was fantastic and friendly. She was the best part of the Bourban Raw experience. But alas, you guys have been put on my No List of Restuarant who's food is not up to par. I hope this review helps improve the quality of food. I really am reviewing your restuarant so that it can be helpful, not to be mean.
Great experience at Bourbon Raw
Atmosphere was great. Service was okay. Food was extremely disappointing.
