Bourbon House Cocktail Emporium & Craft Kitchen
Our server was the best part of the experience. She was great at explaining the menu and answering our questions about different cocktails. Her name was Betsy . She was very professional.
We were there for dine o round....we were all pleased with our choices. I've already recommended this restaurant several times since we were there.
Dining at Bourbon House was a mixed bag. Our server was attentive and helpful; however, checking in with us multiple times could have been less intrusive. Why don't servers pass by without necessarily interrupting the meal? The pork chop in cider sauce/gravy was very tasty. We had anticipated fried chicken; however, it had been replaced with roast chicken, which was bland and in a broth. Excellent selection of beer, and the wine was good and not overpriced. Our initial impression was rather negative as the person greeting us was not customer-oriented; our table wasn't ready, and he didn't know about the Dine Around menu, which is what led us to this restaurant. He reported to Open Table that we'd missed our reservation. He seemed more focused on his phone than on service. The restaurant is inside the building and down stairs/elevator, but there was a helpful sign on the sidewalk to locate the entrance in the large Walker Center. BTW, through a rather dark and dirty alley, it's possible to see the new Salt Pages art installation in the parking/plaza area around the Eccles Theatre Center.
Great customer service and the Brussel splits were delicious
We were delighted with the Dineoround dinner ($20 pp) we had here. Interesting, innovative food, well-prepared. Our compliments to the chef!
My husband and I had Sunday brunch. We enjoyed the food (breakfast burrito and stuffed French toast) loved our waiter--Teddy! Could do without all of the tvs but will definitely go back.
Food was great, service was slower than we are used to.
Hard to find the restaurant as it is in the basement of the Walker Center. The food was incredibly good, the beast we have had on our 3 week vacation through 3 states
I like that you go down to the basement and walk through a hallway lined with a steel caged display of liquor. We had a reservation for low table seating and were seated at high table seating. The next day I had an email from Open Table saying we didn't make our reservation. We did. Overall the food was good. What I personally don't understand are the TV's. Is this a sports bar or moody speakeasy style atmosphere? That more than anything really just threw me off about the place.
Great ambiance!! It’s a little hard to find from the street but it’s like walking into an old time speakeasy... service was top notch and the food and drinks were fabulous!! I highly recommend the totchos and the shrimp and grits!! Would highly recommend!!
Awesome food and service. It was freezing cold and AC was going on a cold fall evening. Only complaint! Awesome!
My wife and I went there on a Friday night at 6:00 PM. It was pretty slow as I think Bourbon House probably gets busier later. The food was excellent and I felt an excellent value. My wife and I got two appetizers, two entrees, and six cocktails and it was only 100 bucks! For as good as the food and drinks were, it was a bargain. We will definitely be back.
Food was good and Really likes the Bourbon chicken wings and the Carnitas tacos. Maybe just have more help when there is a convention in town
Great place to eat and lots of bourbon to choose from!
First time visitor and I was not disappointed. We ordered a prime rib special and an Asian chicken salad. The prime rib was melt in your mouth good. The mashed potatoes that came with it were yummy. The Asian chicken salad was also superb. The dressing was so good, and the chicken was seasoned just right. I can't wait to go back and try some of the other things on the menu.
Great service. Bourbon burger was awesome. Tacos were okay.
We chose this restaurant because we were looking for some well crafted cocktails, good food, and interesting ambiance before taking in a play at the Eccles Theater. The restaurant’s website promised all three. Sadly, the cocktails were truly unremarkable and the service was terrible. We sat for 10 minutes before being waited on and waited 15 minutes to receive our cocktails after they were ordered. We considered ordering a second round but our waiter made only three trips to our table during our entire visit; once to take our drink order, once to bring the drinks and take our food order, and finally to bring us the check. We even had to have the host chase down the waiter for our check. The kitchen staff saved the night by serving up some great food. It was the only redeeming quality of our visit. We won’t be returning and we certainly don’t recommend this place to anyone.
Doug is awesome. And so is Rebecca! She nailed all the drink choices
Hard to find, but worth the search. Fun bar with good food, drinks and ambiance. $5 drink menu was spot on.
Great food! Loved the atmosphere! Will definitely be back!
Great place for food and drinks. Service was great!
Nothing beats the vibe and atmosphere at BH. Great whiskey selection.
Great hole in the wall place. Had a pleasant atmosphere. Thursday at 5:30 it was quiet with business picking up through the evening. The noise level never picked up so my date and I could talk easily. I had two whiskeys that were excellent. The server Wesley was sharp and attentive. I will be back for more.
Food was very good; however, it took a LONG time to get served after ordering. We arrived at 7:15 (reservation) and did not leave until nearly 9:30. Our drink order took longer than it should have for a Monday evening where the bar and restaurant were not half full. After the first drinks arrived we did not see our waiter for quite a while and when he did stop by he filled waters but did not maky any attempt to ask about current drinks.
The next time we saw our waiter was again quite a while he informed us there was 'turmoil in the kitchen and our food would be right out". While this did provide us with a good laugh and conversation we did have to wait even longer for our food. At this time we ordered 2nd drinks because the food had not arrived.
Food was a joke. Caesar salad was pathetic and 3 strips of chicken for an extra $6? Joker status.
None of the appetizers came out at the same time, and none of our entree’s did either. One person in our group had to wait more than 10 minutes to get his meal. The server mistakenly entered an extra burger to our orders and gave it to us to munch on instead of throwing it away, while the rest of us were waiting for food. It was dry, and when we got the tab we were being charged for it! One of the servers actually told us that they had been having some issues in the kitchen for several weeks. Really disappointed...
Good place if you’re just looking for drinks and bar snacks.
Food was bland
Great spot with good food and drinks. Drinks were a little expensive but not abnormal for Utah. Will go back again.
This was such a cool “prohibition” era restaurant. We got referred by my brother in law who said they loved it and I’m so glad we came here. Cool environment, great food and service and we tried a weird shot of Jameson and pickle juice that was actually not bad at all (referred by waitress).
Good food. Nice service.
Food was tasty. Portions more than fair. Drinks were tasty.
Great food and drinks but loud on a Saturday night.
If you want a dark pub with unique (expensive) drinks, this may work for you. If you want dinner, maybe go somewhere else.
The food is okay. For the price, it was a disappointment.
I could see coming back with friends for one cocktail before an event, but that’s about it.
Very poor service, ran out of their special @ 7:30, had to ask for water 2 other tables left because nobody had even greeted them.
Food was fine, service was terrible.
Before 10pm it’s very low key and an awesome experience. The service, food, and drinks were great. Starting at 10pm it turns into more of a club atmosphere with louder music. The switch does not really fit the vibe before 10pm. I would definitely recommend going for dinner and drinks as long as you’re out before it becomes a club; unless you’re into that.
The food was good but not good enough to bring me back due to the horrible service. Even though it was a Saturday night the restaurant had open tables
Decor wasn't followed through from the entry , the seating area was cold and unwelcoming. TV's everywhere drive me nuts. This isn't a sports bar! Food is definitely NOT creative, it is OK average bar style food at reasonable prices. Beers and cocktail selection pretty good.
Great place for dinner then around 10 the DJ started playing music. It was great to have a nice dinner and then hang out and dance after. We had a group of 12 and our server Amelia was fantastic
We waited 20 minutes after being seated for our waitress to greet us. I order a gentleman Jack on the rocks and our waitress replied is that on our menu after showing her it was on the menu she replied is that Jack Daniels or something. If you work at a burbon/whiskey establishment maybe you should at least know the menu. When I received my whiskey it was not on the rocks and it was spilled all over the serving tray, when I asked the waitress if that was a full shot she replied are you new to Utah. I have lived here in Utah for two years now and I know they are only allowed to serve an ounce at a time. I order Jack on the rocks at many other restaurants and it was clear that my shot was not a full ounce by more like half at best. Our food was mediocre at best we had the cracklings which actually was pork rinds, if you are going to put cracklings on the menu make sure they have fat back and are actually cracklings. I had the Mac and meatballs it was subpar it had way to much truffle oil and not enough flavor. The best part of our meal was my wife’s steak sauce the steak was supposed to me medium well but was more like well done.
I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to any of my family or friends.
Go to whiskey street oh by the way they are owned by the same person.
