Bouquet Restaurant and Wine Bar Ratings and Reviews
This was our first visit to Bouquet with a group of friends (6). The restaurant was cozy and welcoming when we entered the main floor and the bartender greeted us right away. We were seated on the 2nd floor, which also had a cozy vibe and a bar. The wait staff was friendly and knowledgeable and provided great service. The menu was a bit limited, as it only had one steak option (flank steak), and one chicken option (chicken risotto), which seemed odd for a restaurant of this type, at this price point. The appetizer and dessert options were a bit limited, as well (bread was considered an appetizer). The sweet potato soup was fantastic on a snowy, cold night. The drinks were delicious, as were our entrees. Our only major complaint was the noise level. We were seated near a large, loud, group and could barely hold a conversation. It would have been nice if a group that large had been seated in the more private room, adjacent to where we were seated, as the more drinks that were enjoyed, the louder it became. All in all, a nice evening.
My wife and I ordered Duck which we both order from time to time so we like the entree and know what to expect. Both of our entrees were under cooked. Our server didn't check back with us after our entrees arrived for a few minutes but it was New Years Eve. When I finally got their attention she remarked "that's how we prepare duck". I asked her to take both back and she remarked "so you want it well done". No just not under cooked I'm not into eating raw poultry is what I thought but I said no just cooked a little more. She brought it back 10 minutes later and never followed up asking if we were satisfied. Our friends did like their meal so don't order the duck and expect in different service and you won't be disappointed.
This was the second time I've eaten at Bouquet. The first time was great. This time was just good. Appetizers (Brussels Sprouts and charcuterie board) were great. But entree was just average. Meal with one round of drinks and bottle of wine ran around $225 for 3.
The food was excellent. The service was sub par as the waitress was not very engaging and or ethical. Asked if could sub a potato she said yes then charged 9.00 for potato. Unimpressed with the service but the food is worth the trip. It is my hope it was just a bad night.
We have been to Bouquet many, many times. It never disappoints. I particularly like that I can bring wine from home and pay a corkage fee. If I am inclined, I can also order off their excellent and fairly priced wine list. The service is friendly, competent, attentive, and efficient. In this occasion, the food was even better than usual (and that is saying something). Everyone in our party loved their meal. We willne back soon.
Everything was wonderful. We did the tasting menu. One of the guests in our party is vegan and they even prepared a fantastic vegan tasting for them. Our server, Tara, was very kind and attentive. We were impressed with the bourbon selection, which Austin was great at walking us through and helping us make a selection. Can't wait to go back!
Bouquet was a favorite of ours for quite some time after it opened. Because of the new choices to explore in Cincinnati, we hadn't been to Bouquet in a couple of years. Unfortunately, it seems that they're coasting on past successes.
The server, who did a decent job, informed us that the menu had been "totally revamped" several times since we were there last. Bouquet, previously, was known for both elegant preparations and interesting flavors. Both seem to have changed. I ordered the "Off the Hook" fish, which was mahi. My filet was extremely dry, as if it had sat under a heat lamp for a long time. My wife's "seafood saute" was a glorified version of shrimp fried rice. Both dishes were *very* salty -- in addition to lacking any of the nuanced flavors we were used to.
Truth be told, we should have sent both entrees back -- and I take responsibility for not doing so. Just the same, the fact that *both* dishes were so oversalted made me think not much would have been different. We chose to go elsewhere for dessert and a nightcap.
Sadly, we probably will not return -- as they seem to be chasing a different sort of palate than ours.
Our service was unbelievable! We booked this for a bachelorette dinner and started with 12 ppl and it quickly every day changed because people could not make it for whatever reason. By the time we got to the restaurant we only had a group of 5. Having worked in the industry I know how much that stinks when you’re expecting a large group and it doesn’t end up that way, but they were so accommodating and just minimized our table and our waiter was great! We had a good time.
