Everything from the service to the food was superb. The entire staff is very attentive and caring. The food presentation was amazing. I can’t wait to return.

A foodie friend and I are fans of David Bouley's restaurants and delighted that he is in our neighborhood and is offering a $59.00 5 course prix fixe lunch. The counter format is interesting but we preferred table seating in the large room that reminded me of a french chateau. the menu is inventive and portions perfect for a five course lunch. Some courses ( i.e.: the fish course) were more successful than others, but defintely merits a return visit.

We ordered the 5 course tasting menu at lunch along with the wine pairing. There were 3-4 items to select from for each course. The food was excellent as always. We both had the duck with wild rice this time. There is also a bread cart offering a variety of at least 6 types to choose from. Service was friendly and relaxed.

Bouley never disappoints! I was so excited when they open on 21st street after closing the Tribeca location. Everything is on point - both taste and presentation. My fav is the porchini flan. The servers are polite and attentive. Will have to take all my guests there when they come visit NY!

First, let me say that David Bouley is a god of the kitchen and we miss his original restaurant, which we thought was the best in the city. His new place is divided into Bouley at Home and Bouley Test Kitchen. Food is the same at both. We dined at the former with friends and can't comment on the latter. The idea is everyone is seated at bar table tops in front of cooking stations. It's meant to be an "immersive and educational community of health and nutrition." Flat screen tv's adorn the walls up high and play videos of various wonderful dishes being prepared. However, while some of our food lived up to the Bouley standards, some didn't. The treasury of wild mushrooms appetizer was superb and the salmon entree was divine; the skate entree was merely well prepared, and not particularly memorable. The chocolate frivolous and citrus vacherin desserts were very tasty, though not quite ethereal. Some of his signature dishes, such as the sea urchin with green apple cloud and caviar or the foie gras are available only on the $250 tasting menu. Service was attentive, but the setup was disorienting. There are three different stations around the room preparing seafood, meats or mushrooms, respectively. The chefs in front of you are not necessarily preparing anything for your meal personally. Nor is there much interaction, which renders the entire conceit fairly meaningless and even annoying, as it would be more pleasant to dine with one's companions at a proper table.

Thoroughly enjoyed Easter tasting menu. Excellent service and very knowledgeable sommelier. We dinned in the Home part of the restaurant , similar to eating in a cozy, comfortable dining room with views of the open kitchen. We would enjoy returning to the test kitchen side for a more casual meal and to be able to interact with the chefs

Peak food experience (and very expensive). Fun to watch chefs work when sitting at counter and the cooking video projected on the wall.

After booking, I got an email about whether we wanted to dine at Bouley at Home, which is counter-style dining with someone cooking in front of you, or at the adjacent Bouley Test Kitchen, which had individual tables. I opted for the Test Kitchen.

I took a peek of Bouley at Home while waiting to be seated at Test Kitchen, and the counter-style dining looks interesting. I might try it next time I’m dining with just 1 other person.

Test Kitchen, on the other hand, was like a big living room.
I loved dining at the old Bouley before it closed, so I think that might have biased my opinion of the Test Kitchen, but it felt unfinished. More casual, less “special occasion”. The paintings and chairs look like they came from the old restaurant, but the walls are plain white. The ladies’ room is nice and clean, but it‘s not as opulent.

We had a view of a kitchen, and the copper pans made the space look nice. There was an odd-shaped pan (round with half circles, like ears, on 2 ends), and we asked our server what that was for but she didn’t know.

Speaking of waitstaff, they seem to not be as well-trained as the old Bouley staff. My water glass was not promptly refilled a few times, and after I finished my glass of wine, they didn’t ask if I wanted another or take away the empty glass. Worse, they took my friends’ dishes when I wasn’t done with mine.

The food though is still as delicious as I remember. They still have the 5-course tasting lunch, which is a fantastic deal at $59, and they still have the porcini flan and the mushrooms (unfortunately still the same course, so the dilemma of which one to choose still exists). The bread cart is also still there, and passed by our table a few times.

They now tack on a 20% administration charge, which is really the service charge. Tax is calculated after adding the 20%, so instead of 28.875% for tax + tip, it’s actually 30.65%.

Overall, some room for improvement, but still a good once-in-a-while lunch place.

This is one of the best culinary experiences I’ve ever had. So, my first social commentary on this kind of experience. The quality of the ingredients, the simplicity of the recipes and the elevation of the dishes by the complex treatment, including molecular techniques is nice.
The staff and the chefs couldn’t be any more accommodating and attentive...
This is a special occasion because I’m meeting my son, who is training to be chef, and there couldn’t be any better venue to show him how it is supposed to be...

I was contacted by the restaurant for our seating preference which was acknowledged prior to our arrival and yet upon arrival started to seat us in the room we had not requested. Servers were very difficult to understand so we were not sure what we were tasting. Sommelier should have come to our table even before we ordered wine. Expected infinitely more customer service and attention to detail given the cost!

Fabulous experience. Three of us had the 9 course tasting which was a blend of flavors that crossed the entire tastebud spectrum. Although the price was not published (at least not where we could easily find it) the wine pairing that went along with it shot the overall cost (ncluding a nice gratuity) to around $1,500...for 3 people. That isn’t such a big deal, considering the expertly paired tasting, but resulted in a slight bit of sticker shock. Perhaps we could have simply ordered a bottle or two to go with the meal, but at the end of the day, it is much more fun to pair each course; so, all in all I guess one could say it was worth the price of admission.

The service was spotty, at times very good, at times not good. For example, nobody explained that the silverware was in a pull out tray underneath the bar so we when we were served food, we had to ask for silverware. The food was also a hit and miss. Some dishes were very good, some were good. The overall experience for the price it commands was not worthwhile.

Bouley at Home was nice and fancy (great to have your parents take you to lol) but they took a while to seat us. We made a reservation at 5:30 and there was literally no one inside, but for some reason they still took a little over 20 minutes to seat us. Nonetheless, food was delicious and ambiance was great.

My husband and I have been coming to Bouley’s
since he opened his first restaurant and
have been devoted fans of his from the beginning
I’m happy to see he still has some of his signature dishes on the menu
He’s amazing always reinventing himself along with keeping some of his signature dishes
Since it was my birthday it was a treat to share

Loved the old Bouley in TriBeCa. It was beautiful. We have dined there for years. However, this new location is more convenient to midtown and train station. No jacket required at the new location. A plus for gents. The wine pairing is phenomenal and super fun. The tasting menu is still a great value for New York. Highly recommended to all age groups.

Bouley at Home is fine dining exposed! Off the chart wine selections. Talk with cooks or Chef Bouley on how and why he created his menu with details in the ingredients - focus on health! Each bite from the tasting menu delectable- we asked for some of our favorites dishes from past Bouley experiences, the chefs were more happy to create: sea urchin highlights, egg plant terrine, lamb- This is a rare opportunity to see the man who trained so many chefs in NYC and to experience what the words: ‘Food Culture’ actually mean.

Everything is perfect. The distinctive decor of the flower filled room with groin vaulted ceilings, antique furnishings, excellent service , quiet dining and a divine quality of food make this
the best New York has to offer.
