The most unusual uncommercial ambiance. You are in the chef’s eclectic loft eating a sumptuous food.
Tasting menu was delicious. We ordered the wine paring with the menu at $125 per person. It was very disappointing. It was a 7 course dinner but they only brought 4 different wines and only refilled once in the first white wine. For 4 people who spent $500 on wine, it was extremely disappointing. We could have ordered 3 very nice bottle and gotten a better value. It was almost as if we were bothering them by choosing the wine paring. Additionally, Bouley himself never came over to talk to us while he managed to speak to all the other tables in the restaurant (and it wasn’t that busy). Also, when making the reservation, it was not clear that we needed to request to sit in the Bar/kitchen area that is the actual “Bouley at Home” space and instead were seated in the other dining area typically reserved for private events. The space and ambiance was lovely but not what we were expecting.
Not sure the second time experience is as good as the first time or as average. The kitchen is way too slow. In between second course and first course, we waited at least 15 mins. The business of the restaurant failed at delivering what people are expecting. The whole experience is 2 star only because the waitress is friendly and personable, other wise 1 star. The restaurant failed at its mission.
An exceptional first time dining experience. Brad was magnificent in explaining each course as well as his colleagues.
Will definitely be back.
We are there for a birthday dinner. The experience was fantastic! Food was great and it’s great to see the chef cooking!
Went to the restaurant to celebrate birthdays (adult mother and daughter). The service was excellent and attentive without being intrusive. Food was delicious and innovative without straying too much from the classics. The setting is also lovely- it feels very much like dining in a much better version of someone’s home, with the furniture and decor echoing that of a living room and the kitchen very visible to diners. Highly recommend for a special occasion lunch as the $75 prix fixe is quite reasonable.
Outstanding food, ambiance, chefs, staff - one of the coolest, most unique and spectacular dining experiences I've ever had!
Love the food, service. Very special place.
Great to have an opportunity to enjoy Chef Bouley's and staff cooking. The atmosphere is casual and pleasing. the private event room looked like a terrific place to have a special occasion event. Too bad it isn't open for dining when there is no event booked.
Appetizers and desserts were great. Was not surprised by the main dish. I have heard great comments about their service from friends. However, our server that day was not attentive, he was basically taking the orders and that was it. I would expect a bit more for a one-star Michelin restaurant.
The food was delicious, the experience was fun, and the service was diligent and fri
Based on our Valentine's Day experience, it was both very expensive and very unpleasant. We were given inferior service and while some dishes were good, we were overall furious at the experience.
After arriving, they stated the table was getting set up still. They offered me a seat at a nearby table to wait. Another person was already sitting there and said the seat was taken which made for an awkward exchange. I was finally shown to my table and proceeded to wait about 10 minutes with no one offering water or asking if I wanted a drink.
Finally, my wife showed up and still no water. She finally arrived and sat down. Still no one came by. Finally after she went to the restroom and someone came by to fold her napkin did I have to proactively ask for water.
After that, it didn't get much better. My wife ordered a cranberry juice and the waiter said he would take it off the bill making it sound like it was complimentary...but it showed up on the bill and wasn't removed even after we pointed it out. Though we were earlier than our neighboring tables, our food always came out after everyone else, and we were not eating slower. We ordered first and even though food came later, we often finished courses first.
At the end during dessert, no one asked if we wanted coffee or tea. When chocolates came out the end, they just put a few on our plate. Our neighboring table got a full description and explanation and provided a choice including chocolates we never received.
We provided feedback and at the least, the manager Stephan asked what was wrong. We explained, and he apologized but that was it. Last but not least, when we gave our ticket for our jackets, they gave my wife only one her jacket but not her blazer. We had to ask where the blazer was.
So, after paying Valentine's Day prices for a horrible experience, I didn't feel the love that night. Awful experience. There are so many better options for my money.
Dinner for 4 to celebrate a birthday, which they completely forgot about and failed to acknowledge (despite the fact that I confirmed it twice). Service was slow and spotty and we had to ask to have our plates cleared, water refilled, wine decanted and wine poured. We were offered no opportunity to order coffee or tea with dessert and at midnight, all the staff basically packed up and left. Ridiculous service for the price.
Amazing experience. Food and wine were spectacular. Service was amazing. Highly recommend the restaurant.
I suggest the tasting menu. It gave us a much better experience than a la cartel and a nice sampling of the menu. We got to meet Chef Bouley who was very gracious and helped prepare a dish. Everything we had on the menu was delicious!
Our repeat visit was even better than the excellent first one! Several dishes were sublime, with the complex delivered apparently simply! Even the citrus pre-dessert course was well thought out, with a balance of crunch/softness and sweet/bitter. A master class!
Outstanding food and service. Great for people watching, a very hot spot. Very interesting watching the cooking in front of you. Check the specials. They even have cooking classes! Great for tasting menu at lunch, with unbeatable prices for the spectacular food you get.
A large, comfortable room filled with furniture that creates a homelike atmosphere. Some tables afford a view into the kitchen/preparations. Service couldn't be warmer or friendlier. Food is of Bouley quality in healthful, simple dishes. A nice experience but not the magic of the original Bouley.
Spectacular!!!We went to the food bar section of the restaurant for our 2nd visit and were impressed beyond belief! The several courses were prepared in front of us and served in a perfect tempo. Ingredients and flavor combinations here are equal to the finest restaurants in the world. We particularly enjoyed the lamb, the dungenous crab, the incredible scallop, and the egg from Heaven. Michelin likes to say “worth a journey” for its highest rated restaurants—We would say Bouley At Home is worth journey after journey—Just great.
It is my favorite place in NYC. Love the service and food is amazing. They really makes us feel at home
The atmosphere was elegant and cozy. The food was creative and tasty.
I really wish I could say this was an amazing experience, but it wasn't. Nothing in the food was worth a revisit, including their self proclaimed classics. The venison I chose was fine, and that's the problem. Nothing made me step back and go...this is something I can't get somewhere else.
We sat in the kitchen area for the unpretentious feel. But the neverending videos of recipes prep was a bit tedious and drove way too much light to the exposed pipes.
On a plus side, the restauranteur, or host who greeted and helped us out was generous and on point. I hope he reads this and pivots as the ingredients are there.
But they just need to tweak and tighten.
There is no better place in NYC to celebrate a special occasion and be pampered and taste the most exquisitely prepared meal. Be prepared to sit for more than 2 hours and be royally served by almost all of the staff. The kitchen is like a laboratory where each course is served to perfection. I’ve been loving Bouley since Duane Street and yesterday was the best meal ever in the 21st Street location. The chefs nailed every course.
Was the perfect evening, the atmosphere was cozy, and the food was also perfect for us, delicately seasoned and prepared.
The quality and presentation of the food are amazing. Service is helpful and patient. The whole ambiance is friendly and not stuffy. We are going back to Bouley as often as we can afford it.
A wonderful dining experience!!!!! A very special evening!!
We went to Bouley tribeca before and had a good memory there, so decided to try out this location also. The place is decorated well and is very cozy and clean, we had the lunch 5 course fixed menu, the portion is not big but sufficient, and the crab soup with truffle is my favorite. Other dish is good but not outstanding. Last time in TriBeCa we got treated a free chef dessert, but this time there was no complimentary treat so was a little disappointed. Overall a nice place to enjoy high quality food.
Bouley is my favorite restaurant since its Tribeca location. We had a nice time with delicious food and with great service. I went to Bouley at home today for my husband’s birthday. The food was great as usual but service was terrible. It was so disappointing. Our server Jeremy wasn’t friendly at all. He never smiled. He never asked us how we are. We had to ask our tea and coffee to another waiter. Jeremy left our payment at our table roughly with no eye contact, no word and no smile. We had a bad experience for the first time at bouley. My husband said he doesn’t want to back there again. It is a shame.
So much worse than Bouley Tribeca. And more expensive
Nice comeback from Bouley .The quality of food is amazing and made remember happy days / excellent meals in my life. Looking forward for another day at Bouley at home in the near future.
As always, the food and service is amazing. This time we had the pleasure of having Chef David Bouley at the site. He has a wealth of knowledge about food and its science which is very impressive. The atmosphere is friendly and we had a great time chatting with everyone! It was like Home!
Chef Bouley deserves our adulation.
Bouley at Home is becoming my favorite restaurant in NYC. The restaurant’s vibe is very cozy, warm, and homey. And several dishes combine japanese flavor with french cooking. Fabulous!
As far as high end dining experiences go, Bouley at home is up there with some of the best established NYC restaurants. The service is superb. While it is pricey, you need to keep in mind that part of what you are paying for is the experience of flavors and textures that are rare to come by. Our food was amazingly flavorful and balanced with magnificent wine selections. This combination of good things allow me to forget that the portions we small. Overall an excellent experience.
Not worth it.
Sorry I can’t give them more stars. A couple of extra dishes not on the tasting menu showed up through dinner. Eat at the bar for the best experience.
A great price dice lunch with terrific wine pairings.
The tasting menu with wine pairing (generous pours) was delicious. I’ll be rhapsodizing about the first taste—three oysters with Meyer lemon creme fraiche and roe for a long time.
Interesting, quirky decor. Makes me want to return for cooking classes (with meal)!
