Boulevard Kitchen & Oyster Bar Ratings and Reviews
The kitchen was out of all the things we ordered including the features that the waiter raved about. They never let us know until atleast 20 minutes after we ordered. The manager tried to blame it on how busy they were (a typical saturday night). I would not recommend going to this restaurant.
Food was amazing, the braised beef was so good. Sea food tower for 2 was incredible, except the oysters were OK. Nevertheless the crab was good, the prawns, the shrimp salad, all good! Moscow mule was so-so ; not enough ginger beer or not enough alcohol, it was watered down, and I've had better. We will be back though 100%.
The front of house staff was rude and dismissive. They couldn't find my reservation on the system and then questioned me when I told them someone called me that day to confirm. We were then sent to the lounge where we were completely ignored. We were actually going to walk out when someone came to take us to our table. The server was attentive and friendly and the food was good, but unfortunately the hostess staff was so rude it was not enough to save the experience. I would not recommend this restaurant as you have to endure the rude treatment in order to be given a table.
I can't say enough about the service from Boulevard's staff. My sister and I were treated so well and were very appreciative of the unexpected surprises she received at the end of our meal (a birthday dessert along with a card from the manager). It was our first time dining here and my expectations were surpassed. I can't wait until my next visit!
The food was good but the overall experience was disappointing.
First off, we ate outside on the patio, which was the sidewalk adjoining busy Howe street. Not great ambiance. Even so, it was better than the tables they offered us inside.
Secondly, the service was slow. We had to wait quite awhile before a waiter took our order. Then when he did he informed us that they were out of the evening's special (local Halibut) which was what I was about to order. Out of Halibut at 7:30 pm during Halibut season?? They were also out of the wine I ordered.
My companion and I ordered two appetizers (which we shared): octopus and green & white asparagus salad. Both were tasty but also miniscule. When I order an asparagus salad I expect to get at least two or three asparagus spears. Not at Boulevard. I had to look long and hard to find the few shreds of asparagus under the duck egg.
For main courses we both ordered the wild sockeye salmon dish (after having to forego the Halibut). The salmon was good though not impressive.
Overall, Boulevard is not a good experience and a poor value. Go to Blue Water Cafe, Ancora or Yew for better seafood at comparable prices.
