About Bouchon - Santa Barbara
Fresh, local ingredients, prepared with care. Excellent wines that reflect the quality and character of our region and work in concert with the cuisine. Warm, inviting ambiance, service at a relaxed, leisurely pace.
Santa Barbara ‘Wine Country Cuisine’ means we source our ingredients using an ‘as-fresh-and-as-local-as-possible’ approach, with fish from the Santa Barbara Channel and produce from the surrounding countryside. We then take into account how these flavors can be presented in concert with our local wines. I believe you’ll taste the difference and see how well they work together.
We believe Santa Barbara is producing some of the finest Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Other locally produced varietals will surprise you with their quality, variety and approachability. Please ask your server for recommendations on how any of our 40+ wines by the glass match up with your selections. Bon Appètit!

Bouchon - Santa Barbara Ratings and Reviews
I had been to this restaurant a year ago for the first time and we made reservations from the restaurant for the next night, everything was that amazing. This time around I was expecting the same but it was a little bit of a let down. The scallops and the duck were the only great items on the menu. The pork shank made it’s first debut last night and it was not what the waiter made it up to be. I think it’s a hit or miss kind of a restaurant. Their menu does change.
This was our second time to visit Bouchon for dinner. The food was terrific and just right for a very special birthday. The care spent with the wines was so Santa Barbara! We were not disappointed. It was a very special evening for us so we had to insist on a good table when we got there. I thought I had made that clear when I made the reservation. But they were happy to oblige when we asked for a change.
Impeccably prepared French cuisine. Romantic atmosphere and excellent local wine list. The food was creative and the portions are deceptively large. My date and I ordered one starter and one entree each and could not finish our entrees and didn't have room for dessert. Our server was attentive and answered all our questions. This is what fine dining should be.
Dining at Bouchon is really a first class experience. The service was excellent. The atmosphere is charming and each dish was interesting and excellent. Everyone of the six of us enjoyed each of our courses. This is the perfect place for a special occasion.
Although service was subpar, the food was exceptional. Each ingredient complemented the other almost perfectly, and each dish left us satisfied. We ordered the foie gras, french onion soup, venison medallions, crab cakes, duck breast and thigh confit. The soup was a bit too thick, but otherwise flavorful. The foie gras a bit too red for my liking. The bread, however, was perhaps the most delicious soft, yet crusty bread I've ever eaten in my life.
We were well attended to by the excellent serving staff - they were spot on! The restaurant was beautiful and cozy even on this chilly day where we sat outside. The bread, wine, crab cakes, onion soup, and dessert were very nice. However, the main courses were unremarkable, especially the pork dish which was bland. The gratin potatoes on the side were so crunchy-undercooked that, even with a knife, it was difficult to shave off a piece off the tower for a taste. We both felt that we, with our average cooking skills, could have made this better at home. We left feeling disappointed and won't likely return.
Always a top notch experience. server was very knowledgeable about all ingredients , preparations , and wines. Very attentive team serving to make sure we had continuous water, bread, wine, proper cutlery , etc. I had a fantastic venison tenderloin perfectly cooked and seasoned. By far best selections of some of the hard to get local wines.
Food is fantastic! My boyfriend got the venison and said it was very tender and delicious. I got the duck breast and it was also phenomenal. My favorites were probably the crab cakes and onion soup. I recommend coming here for any special occasions as the service is great and food is delicious :)
We had a fantastic experience! We were celebrating a birthday, and Bouchon was the perfect location. Rose petals on the table, a card for the celebrant , delicious food, impeccable service. We were visiting Santa Barbara from LA, but I can’t wait to get back and enjoy another delicious meal there.
Consistently one of the best all around restaurants in downtown Santa Barbara. Highly trained, very professional staff at all levels. Pricey and worth it. Our server last night explained he was fairly new; but you could never tell it-he was so well informed and his call backs were perfectly timed. Thanks Justin.
Put this one on your must do list.
Food was delicious. We don’t really consider ourselves foodies and never post reviews, but we like going to nice restaurants and eating really good food and Bouchon was the best restaurant we’ve been to in a long time. I had the salmon, my wife had the sea bass and both were delicious, especially the salmon. We also had the goat cheese pecan tart as an appetizer which was incredibly good. Service and ambiance were excellent. Perfect evening.
