About Bouchon - Santa Barbara
Fresh, local ingredients, prepared with care. Excellent wines that reflect the quality and character of our region and work in concert with the cuisine. Warm, inviting ambiance, service at a relaxed, leisurely pace.
Santa Barbara ‘Wine Country Cuisine’ means we source our ingredients using an ‘as-fresh-and-as-local-as-possible’ approach, with fish from the Santa Barbara Channel and produce from the surrounding countryside. We then take into account how these flavors can be presented in concert with our local wines. I believe you’ll taste the difference and see how well they work together.
We believe Santa Barbara is producing some of the finest Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Syrah. Other locally produced varietals will surprise you with their quality, variety and approachability. Please ask your server for recommendations on how any of our 40+ wines by the glass match up with your selections. Bon Appètit!

Bouchon - Santa Barbara Ratings and Reviews
Consistently one of the best all around restaurants in downtown Santa Barbara. Highly trained, very professional staff at all levels. Pricey and worth it. Our server last night explained he was fairly new; but you could never tell it-he was so well informed and his call backs were perfectly timed. Thanks Justin.
Put this one on your must do list.
Food was delicious. We don’t really consider ourselves foodies and never post reviews, but we like going to nice restaurants and eating really good food and Bouchon was the best restaurant we’ve been to in a long time. I had the salmon, my wife had the sea bass and both were delicious, especially the salmon. We also had the goat cheese pecan tart as an appetizer which was incredibly good. Service and ambiance were excellent. Perfect evening.
Food was delicious but seat us near walk for tiny table for two. Knew it was our special anniversary and did give us a card, thought at least a tiny desert to share! Not busy night and felt underwhelmed, were there three years ago for anniversary and felt more special then!
The food was well prepared and with good balance of seasonings and flavor. Two minuses to our experience though. We had ordered wine parings with our courses and unfortunately our food arrived well before the wine which caused us to have to wait. The second is that we felt rushed. Courses came too close together. This was a Saturday evening reservation at 7PM and we left at about 8:30. There were a few empty tables and no one waiting to be seated. For a restaurant of this quality and notoriety we expected our experience to last at least 2 hours as we are accustomed to.
Wow. We are foodies, and happened to see this restaurant on Open Table when traveling thru Santa Barbara. It has been the highlight of our two week drive down the west coast. Beautiful food, exclusively local wine list, topped off by Service that we usually only find at high end, cosmopolitan restaurants. Yet, casual and friendly. We highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who enjoys locally sourced food prepared in imaginative ways.
Excellent food and service. One of their special touches if you tell them you are celebrating a special day is to decorate your table with rose petals and a card signed by the staff. A wonderful assortment of seasonal and standard menu items. The wine pairing and suggestions are well chosen by the chef and sommelier working together to obtain their desired flavor experience. They will have you taste the suggested wine before you order a glass. The scallop trio is fun to eat. You explore both flavor and texture. Venison is excellent especially because of the side items. Roasted Garlic bread pudding, braised brussels sprouts, mushrooms. That attention to the detail of choosing the side items sets Buchon on a higher elevation than other fine dining establishments. Fresh local fish of the day is accompanied by potatoes and squash but also an often neglected vegetable, eggplant. Inspired cooking.
Always amazing! The food is phenomenal, the service is outstanding and I this ocation was our anniversary, we got there our table was beautifully arranged with rose petals, candles and a congratulatory note signed by the manager and the chef ... was a very nice touch. Best restaurant in Santa Barbara.
Wow - one of the best meals I've had! We had local heirloom tomatoes with goat cheese, foie gras, duck house specialty, and scallop trio - every dish was amazing. great wine recommendations. they have a wine specially made to go with the house duck dish that was excellent. I also like that they will do a half pour of wine so that you can have good wine pairings even if you don't dink enough to have a glass with each dish. Service was outstanding. Highly recommended.
Love going to this restaurant, always a nice experience. The only thing I was disappointed with was the dessert. Got the chocolate molten lava cake, but when it arrived, it’s was FLAT. Being that this is such a nice restaurant and presentation is part of the experience, I felt that they should have replaced it. Funny thing is, another server came out with the same dessert which looked BEAUTIFUL.
I’ve eaten at Bouchon numerous times over many years and am never disappointed. The ambiance has a low-key elegance that’s still cozy, and the staff is professional but never pretentious. The food is always delicious and beautifully prepared. As a local, this remains one of my two favorites in Santa Barbara!
Bouchon was lovely. I don't drink but the others in my party had excellent help with tasting and choosing wine from a very thorough wine list. The food was excellent with a balanced menu to choose from. Lastly the ambience was great and allowed us to visit without noise disturbance from others. A great restaurant for an intimate dinner or a celebration.
