Bouchard Restaurant and Inn Ratings and Reviews
Bouchard is a great choice for a really good dinner. The cuisine is authentically french without being staid. The food is really delicious and well prepared. Service is attentive but not intrusive. At a recent birthday dinner, everyone loved their meal and the whole experience.
Worth a trip and getting a little more dressed up to match the ambiance of this lovely place.
Classic French cuisine with American nouvelle twists. Everything we had (5 different dishes, 2 apps, 2 mains, a dessert) tasted wonderful, was carefully prepared, and was beautifully presented. This is a fine dining restaurant without being stuffy or pretentious. The wine list is extensive and offers good, reasonably priced choices as well as celebratory splurges. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, yet unobtrusive. We had a cream of cauliflower (perhaps a veloute) soup with lobster, foie gras served with endive and a bit of potato, monkfish with lobster, and sweetbreads with a deglazed sauce with mushrooms. Dessert was a Grand Marnier souffle with creme anglaise. Every single item was memorable. It's not inexpensive but it is certainly worth the price for food and service of this exceptional quality.
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner here; elegant but not stuffy. The service was top-notch!! The escargot and chef's pate appetizers were delicious. The entrees of peppercorn tenderloin (quite "peppery" but good) and the veal chop were wonderful as was the presentation. We shared a dessert of profiteroles. The waiter recommended a nice French red cabernet sauvignon which was an excellent choice. In addition, the decorations were tasteful and festive.
My husband and I dined at Bouchard's on Christmas Eve. The entire evening was fabulous! Staff was so friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was cozy, charming and festive for the holidays. The ambiance was very warm and exactly what we were hoping for. When you walk in and see the tiny bar, you might think they might not be able to accommodate your drink order, but we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of cocktail options. The food was amazing! We were so full from our appetizers and entrees, that we sadly had to forego dessert, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We'll just have to try again next time....we'll definitely be back!
As always, Bouchard met our high standards and expectations in every respect. Our table captain, Max, was extremely helpful and attentive to our every need. Bouchard remains #1 on our list of restaurants for a special occasion or when we want to treat ourselves or guests to an enjoyable and memorable dining experience.
Just had a most memorable meal. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and enjoyed the experience immensely! From the food which was absolutely perfect, to the service, it is without doubt the most pleasant experience we have had in a very long time! The quality of the food is outstanding, the drinks are perfectly served and the desserts are truly works of art,
Very strongly recommend it!!!!
Lovely setting for a special occasion meal or any nice meal for that matter. Food was phenomenal. There were 3 of us and we shared the cold pate - small portion for 3, but divine none the less. We each had an appetizer - 1 had escargot and 2 of us had the asparagus and lobster in puff pastry; all were excellent. Two of us had the Dover Sole for an entree; an entree you don't often see on a menu and Bouchard sure knows how to prepare it correctly. The 3rd person had a salad and the warm tomato tart which she thoroughly enjoyed.
We had two bottles of a french bordeaux and the first bottle should have been decanted as there was quite a bit of sediment in our glasses at the end. We requested the 2nd bottle be decanted, which they did. Service is different than in other restaurants as they have table captains who first speak with you, tell you of menu, get your first drink selection and assist with bottled wine selections, bring you the wine, and then a waiter assists you afterwards. I believe it is the European way of service, but I feel there can be glitches when it isn't the standard, as in the USA. We served ourselves the wine whereas in most high-end restaurants your wait person is usually attentive and cognizant when a guest's wine glass needs more wine. Maybe a small thing, but it is something all of us would have expected in a restaurant like Bouchard.
This was our second time there and we all agreed we would return and we'd all highly recommend it to food lovers. The service is the only small glitch and others we know you have gone to Bouchard also commented about it.
What a perfect place to spend a special or quiet relaxing night out where the staff takes care of everything for you. Food was whole and healthy and all from scratch. Only the best ingredients to produce such high quality cuisine. Some of the BEST food I’ve had ever. From the escargot to the soufflé, everything was AMAZING. I will definitely be back.
This is a special place, we were here two nights in a row this time. We have been coming for years and it just gets better. Dan and Max and the whole wait staff are professional and friendly. All the menu items are well prepared and delicious. Chef Jessica is very talented in the kitchen. Go, you will love it!
I'm a big fan of this restaurant. It's a little pricy, but they do such a great job overall that it's worth it. The lighting and decor could use an update, but still the ambience is just about right. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable, the plates are portioned just right, look great, and are exquisitely served. Highly recommended!
We were celebrating my sister's 60th b-day we wanted a special gourmet meal something she would not prepare herself. We were staying in Newport for the week and went online Bouchard's restaurant was rated the best restaurant in the area. The minute we walked in the door the ambiance was perfect the two women that greeted us were very pleasant. The wait staff Dan and Brittani, sous chef Jess were outstanding, the waiter knew the menu and how every entrée was prepared etc. We all enjoyed the time together and the wonderful food that we shared. Thank you for making my sister's special day something to remember. We will be back.
My wife and I have been going to Bouchard for decades. I do not know how they continue to improve. However, our experience last week was better than ever! The food was, as always, fantastic, complemented by extraordinary service. For my vote, the best restaurant in the state, and could hold its own in Paris.
