Bouchard Restaurant and Inn Ratings and Reviews
I love this restaurant. We have been several times and never disappointed. The food is perfectly prepared and the wine list is wonderful. 5star service. Friendly and. Very
Knowledgeable staff. I had swordfish and my husband had a filet mignon . Both meals were superb. We look forward to our next visit. Bonnie & Karl
Food was good prepared well. Both the lobster and beef dish tasted great. Experience was ruined by head waiter who had a look down his nose attitude when asked of two choices which was better. Snide answer from him. Having lived in France myself I have not come across the stereotypical condescending rude waiter there. There is no reason it has to be practiced here.
The food is wonderful, unique and everything tastes great. The service is outstanding with Dan. We are always treated like royalty and it is always fun. This restaurant has become so popular that you have to make reservation 3 or more weeks in advance, it's that good!
We enjoyed dining at Bouchard and had a very nice meal. We were contacted by phone by the restaurant to have their dress policy explained and had to take extra clothes to comply. We were told no sneakers or shorts -- business casual. We then had the table next to us occupied by two couples -- both men in shorts and the women also very casual. They should either enforce this or not make this call.
Very impressed! We loved our meal from start to finish. We enjoyed the Lobster bisque and Lobster tail entree from the menu and some nightly specials as well. Finishing with a few desserts and the best cup of coffee we have ever tasted was the perfect way to end a magical dinner. Service was exceptional.
Bouchards , was absolutely delightful the ambience was the perfect setting for a wonderful evening out with friends. Quiet conversation was perfect just wonderful experience and the waiters and bus boy's what absolutely impeccable, extremely polite ,knowledgeable and engaged in Pleasant conversations with us. The food on the other hand was beyond anything I ever expected so creative so beautiful on the plate and tasty just perfect. The escargot were the best I ever had and I have tried many before and freshness was unbelievable. I also had the striped bass special which could not have been any fresher if I caught it myself. My friend had the pork tenderloins which were absolutely amazing and cooked to perfection overall it was just an absolutely tremendous experience one that I cannot wait to enjoy again I highly recommend Bouchards.
Outstanding! Let me first say I am not a huge fan of French cuisine (even in France) but the reviews for this place were great and a friend recommended it. So I thought why not try something different. Well, it was amazing! Both my husband and I thought it was one of the best. I had the pork wrapped in a puff pastry...I wasn't sure what to expect but it was done perfectly. The vegetables and potatos were perfect as well. My husband had the sea bass and loved it! Bread and salad were so good too. Wine selection great. I wasn't blown away by the chocolate dessert but it was still good. Atmosphere was fine, the place it small and there is not outside seating but the food is so worth it.
My husband and I just celebrated our 15 year anniversary at Bouchard. The food was absolutely fantastic. I had the shrimp tower, the stuffed lobster, and the soufflé. All we're just so so tasty. I would have licked my plate clean! The service was a bit slow, but the staff was nice, and not overwhelming. I am gluten free, and just told them, and all was taken care of. What a wonderful experience. Thank you!
The food was outstanding! I got the soup and entree' specials and the striped bass was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. On the downside, the room was hot and the staff was understaffed. Attention to refilling wine glasses and clearing plates was the result. Overall, I would definitely recommend this restaurant as the food outweighed any shortcomings.
Visiting Newport this was the highlight of the trip. It was as advertised a first rate experience and dinner. Our waiter Max was amazing as was his assistant. The pork dish was as good as any I have had and the soufflé was out of this world. Great place and great job by the whole staff.
I had been wanting to dine here for ages, but it is very hard to get a reservation. I made this reservation over a month in advance for our anniversary. The wait staff was great and made us feel very special on our special occasion. The food was very good, but not outstanding. The sauce on my husbands steak was a bit sweet and my beet salad was a bit tasteless. I will say that the crème brulee was EXCELLENT, as was the decaf cappuccino.
It's easy to see why this restaurant is rated in the top few in Newport. My wife and I and another couple dined here for the first time based on reviews we saw on several websites. Believe me we were not disappointed on any front! The seating is limited and the noise level is low so you can actually talk to your friends without shouting. From the first greeting at the hostess podium to the final exchange of thank-yous exchanged as we left about 90 minutes later everything was outstanding...our waiter, Max, was friendly, courteous, available without hovering over the table, and able and willing to answer questions about menu choices. Service was outstanding!
The food was beautifully presented, absolutely delicious, and all four meals were just to die for. But, as they say, the proof is in the pudding, order the Grand Mariner souffle with your dinner order so it will be ready when you are ready for desert. I have had this many places across our country and believe me, this was the best I've ever had in any restaurant anywhere. Outstanding!
Some details...they have a dress code and when they call to confirm your reservation the make sure you and your guests know what it is (Business casual). No one we saw was inappropriately dressed. Not appropriate for children under 7 years old. You will not have to endure someone's screaming or unruly child interrupting your dinner. I for one approve of these rules!
Last comment, this restaurant is top shelf all the way and is not inexpensive, but in my opinion, it was worth every penny and we will go back.
A decent French restaurant in a touristy city where the majority of the food reflects this aesthetic. Everything we ordered was well prepared just not memorable. Service was initially warm and attentive, but dropped off considerably as the restaurant became busier. The soufflé that everyone raves about was mostly airy and hollow inside...tasty for certain but again not memorable. Ambiance is wonderful.
I highly recommend Bouchard for anyone staying in the Newport area. The entire staff is very dedicated and hard-working, and even during the very busy summer season, it was close to flawless. The soufflé, which you order at the beginning of your meal due to preparation time, is not to be missed.
We had dinner at Bouchard, and it was excellent in every way. The food is classic French, and although some might consider it "retro" cuisine, it was extraordinarily well prepared. The service by our captain and server couldn't have been better. All told, a wonderful experience that we are looking forward to repeating. Kudos to the chef!
My husband and I love French food and the Bouchard did not disappoint all. The food, service, and presentations were sublime and very reasonably priced for a restaurant of this caliber. We had the seared foie gras, escargot, re-stuffed roasted lobster and a stuffed pork tenderloin back in puff pastry. For dessert we shared a grand mariner soufflé. Everything was perfect! The setting is charming and our captain for the evening was exactly the right amount of conversationist and respecting our space. In fact he overheard us speaking about our anniversary and surprised us with 2 glasses of champagne and happy anniversary written on our dessert plate in chocolate. We will be back in Newport next summer and definitely return to the Bouchard.
Very nice experience. Staff was friendly and food was very good. One person in the party said the carpaccio and the creme brulee were the best they ever had. I think the dining experience can vary depending on what room you're seated in. That front is nicer in terms of decor, but louder. The back isn't as nice, but much more quiet. Both are good in their own right, but one may be better than the other depending on the occasion.
Attentiveness of staff can not be beaten. We arranged for our niece to eat with her friend (both 14) at Bouchard's sister restaurant (The Revolving Door) next to the main dining area and the hostess there watched over them the entire time, even coming to our table to let us know the kids had finished their meals. Superb.
I've been coming to Bouchard for many years, it never loses its appeal or its attention to detail. Daniel has been our waiter for at least the last 10 years. He remembers us every single time we visit. The wine suggestions are always spot on. The food is phenomenal, the ambience typically French. You absolutely cannot go wrong here.
