Excellent all-around--top notch food, service, atmosphere. Each dish was unique, and the sauces were exquisite---in everything from the tuna tartar to the profiteroles. No heavy dishes here--and absolutely not pretentious at all. Don't miss the opportunity to enjoy a well-prepared meal with exceptional attention to detail.
authentic haute cuisine. excellent service, creative & reasonable wine list, the best martini ever, and a friendly, warm ambience on a freezing midwinter evening. it is a credit to bouchard's reputation that the dining room was filled because newport at this time of the year is usually deadsville. this was my birthday dinner, and it had a surprise ending. maxim, the maître d'hôtel, is the son of roger putier, the master french chef who brought modern french cuisine to newport in 1975. bravissimo to the bouchards for keeping newport's culinary tradition alive!
Bouchard's Restaurant never disappoints. It is the best!
The best food ever.
Wonderful Evening. Everything was excellent, food, wine and mostly our server, Max. He enhanced our dining !
A looking forward to our next visit.
Bourchard is consistently the best restaurant in Newport--fabulous food, attentive service and a most amazing souffle. Try it soon!
Bouchard never disappoints. The chef is an artist and a wizard. Every mouthful was simply scrumptious. The meal was exquisite...one of the best we have ever eaten. Service was superb and atmoshere was charming. Fabulous place for foodies or anyone. We adore it.
We had a fine experience here but nothing special. The food was fairly good (we had the steak, the salmon salad and the grand marnier soufflé) but certainly not great. We were also initially seated in a kind of corridor/hallway despite having booked well in advance and having indicated that it was a special occasion. I would not return and in Newport, if I return, I will stick to more modest fare.
Amazing from start to finish. The staff was wonderful. The food was outstanding. Started with a French martini-one of the best I have ever had, first course was beef carpaccio-so tender and flavorful, second course was an endive salad that was delectable, third course was the duck breast - which came our more cooked than I expected was so tender and delicious that I got what it was prepared the way it was, last course was a grand marmite soufflé. Not one thing to complain about. Additionally, the wine Max picked was wonderful and absolutely within our price range. I would recommend Bouchard to anyone.
Fantastic food, friendly and superb service
Bouchard is a great choice for a really good dinner. The cuisine is authentically french without being staid. The food is really delicious and well prepared. Service is attentive but not intrusive. At a recent birthday dinner, everyone loved their meal and the whole experience.
Worth a trip and getting a little more dressed up to match the ambiance of this lovely place.
Amazing food!!!! Excellent experience!!!
We enjoyed our meal, it was a little slow at the beginning, we waited quite a while for our appetizers...However the staff is awesome and the food was delicious.Highly recommend
Best restaurant in Newport. Service and meal are outstanding
Classic French cuisine with American nouvelle twists. Everything we had (5 different dishes, 2 apps, 2 mains, a dessert) tasted wonderful, was carefully prepared, and was beautifully presented. This is a fine dining restaurant without being stuffy or pretentious. The wine list is extensive and offers good, reasonably priced choices as well as celebratory splurges. The staff is knowledgeable and helpful, yet unobtrusive. We had a cream of cauliflower (perhaps a veloute) soup with lobster, foie gras served with endive and a bit of potato, monkfish with lobster, and sweetbreads with a deglazed sauce with mushrooms. Dessert was a Grand Marnier souffle with creme anglaise. Every single item was memorable. It's not inexpensive but it is certainly worth the price for food and service of this exceptional quality.
Every time we visit Newport we like to try new restaurants. The exception, in more ways than one, is Bouchard Restaurant. We dine there during every visit. It is consistently exceptional.
One of the best restaurants in Rhode Island. A consistent winner year after year.
EASILY THE BEST RESTAURANT IN THE STATE AND AMONG THE BEST IN THE Boston REGION. I PROMOTE THIS RESTAURANT AS SUCH TODAY IN FACT TO A YOUNG FRENCH COUPLE
We frequent Newport an have never been to Bouchard. We found this to be an awesome find and will certainly go back there to dine.
We had a wonderful Christmas Eve dinner here; elegant but not stuffy. The service was top-notch!! The escargot and chef's pate appetizers were delicious. The entrees of peppercorn tenderloin (quite "peppery" but good) and the veal chop were wonderful as was the presentation. We shared a dessert of profiteroles. The waiter recommended a nice French red cabernet sauvignon which was an excellent choice. In addition, the decorations were tasteful and festive.
My husband and I dined at Bouchard's on Christmas Eve. The entire evening was fabulous! Staff was so friendly and attentive. The restaurant itself was cozy, charming and festive for the holidays. The ambiance was very warm and exactly what we were hoping for. When you walk in and see the tiny bar, you might think they might not be able to accommodate your drink order, but we were pleasantly surprised by the variety of cocktail options. The food was amazing! We were so full from our appetizers and entrees, that we sadly had to forego dessert, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. We'll just have to try again next time....we'll definitely be back!
We had a wonderful night dining at Bouchard on Christmas Eve. The wait staff were professional and helpful, the food was delicious, and the evening was special.
Outstanding Christmas Eve dinner. Exceptional service, perfectly prepared dishes.
As always, Bouchard met our high standards and expectations in every respect. Our table captain, Max, was extremely helpful and attentive to our every need. Bouchard remains #1 on our list of restaurants for a special occasion or when we want to treat ourselves or guests to an enjoyable and memorable dining experience.
There were bugs flying around he entire time and the table next to us were so rude. Would not go back again.
Awesome food and service as usual. We will be back -- I promise!
Excellent ambiance, superb service and amazing food!
Just had a most memorable meal. My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary and enjoyed the experience immensely! From the food which was absolutely perfect, to the service, it is without doubt the most pleasant experience we have had in a very long time! The quality of the food is outstanding, the drinks are perfectly served and the desserts are truly works of art,
Very strongly recommend it!!!!
Bouchard made a special occasion truly special. What a pleasure to enjoy an evening of superior service and delectable cuisine. My guest was beyond thrilled with such a perfect evening.
Service and food were wonderful! I took my friend here for her birthday and they gave us glass of champagne. We both enjoyed ourselves.
Lovely setting for a special occasion meal or any nice meal for that matter. Food was phenomenal. There were 3 of us and we shared the cold pate - small portion for 3, but divine none the less. We each had an appetizer - 1 had escargot and 2 of us had the asparagus and lobster in puff pastry; all were excellent. Two of us had the Dover Sole for an entree; an entree you don't often see on a menu and Bouchard sure knows how to prepare it correctly. The 3rd person had a salad and the warm tomato tart which she thoroughly enjoyed.
We had two bottles of a french bordeaux and the first bottle should have been decanted as there was quite a bit of sediment in our glasses at the end. We requested the 2nd bottle be decanted, which they did. Service is different than in other restaurants as they have table captains who first speak with you, tell you of menu, get your first drink selection and assist with bottled wine selections, bring you the wine, and then a waiter assists you afterwards. I believe it is the European way of service, but I feel there can be glitches when it isn't the standard, as in the USA. We served ourselves the wine whereas in most high-end restaurants your wait person is usually attentive and cognizant when a guest's wine glass needs more wine. Maybe a small thing, but it is something all of us would have expected in a restaurant like Bouchard.
This was our second time there and we all agreed we would return and we'd all highly recommend it to food lovers. The service is the only small glitch and others we know you have gone to Bouchard also commented about it.
Awesome dinner with friends! Wonderful service and delicious drinks apps salads entrees and desserts! Highly recommend this restaurant for a fabulous dining experience!
We had dinner there the other night. Everything was amazing, had a fantastic bottle of wine at a fairly reasonable price, server (Max) who we had had before was outstanding. It was a joyous experience from start to finish.
What a perfect place to spend a special or quiet relaxing night out where the staff takes care of everything for you. Food was whole and healthy and all from scratch. Only the best ingredients to produce such high quality cuisine. Some of the BEST food I’ve had ever. From the escargot to the soufflé, everything was AMAZING. I will definitely be back.
This is a special place, we were here two nights in a row this time. We have been coming for years and it just gets better. Dan and Max and the whole wait staff are professional and friendly. All the menu items are well prepared and delicious. Chef Jessica is very talented in the kitchen. Go, you will love it!
I'm a big fan of this restaurant. It's a little pricy, but they do such a great job overall that it's worth it. The lighting and decor could use an update, but still the ambience is just about right. The staff are all very friendly and knowledgeable, the plates are portioned just right, look great, and are exquisitely served. Highly recommended!
Phenomenal food, outstanding service by fully knowledgeable staff
Excellent service and superb food. The chefs have a mastery of sauces that place very good food to the limits of unforgettable.
Our 4th time there and it didn’t disappoint food prepared to perfection no rushing Captain described the meals expertly only thing wrong I wish it wasn’t so far away I would be able to visit more often.
We were celebrating my sister's 60th b-day we wanted a special gourmet meal something she would not prepare herself. We were staying in Newport for the week and went online Bouchard's restaurant was rated the best restaurant in the area. The minute we walked in the door the ambiance was perfect the two women that greeted us were very pleasant. The wait staff Dan and Brittani, sous chef Jess were outstanding, the waiter knew the menu and how every entrée was prepared etc. We all enjoyed the time together and the wonderful food that we shared. Thank you for making my sister's special day something to remember. We will be back.
