One of the best dining experiences I have ever had!
Another amazing evening at Bouchard- they do everything right - food, Dans service, attention to detail
Can’t think of a more special evening
Second visit and happy to see they maintain the same high quality in their food, service and great value.
We will definitely be back!
Excellent seating, better service, exquisite food. It was our 16th Anniversary, & while the company was hostile, the perfect bone in veal chop with crimini mushroom sauce, ending with a magnificent vanilla souffle and good to the last drop Cappuccino, made it an evening to remember gastronomicly.
Creative, delicious meal. We've been there before and have never been disappointed.
We traditionally visit this Award Winning restaurant featuring exquisite French cuisine and exemplary service in early spring and around the holiday season. Otherwise, expect up to a two-month wait for a reservation during the high tourist season. Yes, its that good! I enjoyed the Breast of Duck and my wife ordered the Dover Sole - only one of two restaurants in the entire state that offer this delicate but exquisitely prepared fish. Each was a culinary experience. Our waiter also took the time to explain how each dish was prepared and offered suggestions on an accompanying wine selection. Our appetizers and desserts were wonderful as well. Truly an overall outstanding dining experience.
Awesome! Waiter Dan was knowledgeable about menu and preferences/pairings. Couldn’t ask for a better experience!
I travel extensively and Bouchard is one of my favorite restaurants anywhere. The food and the service is always outstanding.
By far worth every cent spent. Dan, our captain for the evening was attentive, informative, professional and had a wonderful sense for knowing what his customers would enjoy. All of his suggestions hit the mark from before dinner cocktails to dessert and after dinner drinks. His warm and inviting personality made the evening celebration for two birthdays even more special.OH and the food??? Incredible! Truly one of the best meals any of the 4 of us have had...we've had a few too! Can not go wrong at Bouchard. First visit, but more to come!
Simply awesome meal and service
Exceptional service and great food in a quaint and comfortable setting.
My wife and I have been going to the restaurant since 2001 for her December birthday . The service is always excellent, as is the food. The place is also quite charming. We go there with high expectations and have never been disappointed.
Food was good but nothing special. They make a big deal about the dress code, even called us to remind us no jeans. No problem, we like to dress up a little for special dinners. Table next to us had 3 guys in jeans and collarless shirts. Ridiculous!
Bouchard Restaurant is our absolute favorite restaurant when we are in Newport (staying at the Francis Malbone Inn). The ambiance is charming and noise level is very comfortable, allowing for easy conversation. Our waiter, Max, was a true professional and guided us on choices for wine, appetizers and mains. The food was sublime, beautifully presented and prepared to perfection. If you love fine food and ambiance, do not miss dining at Bouchard!
Everything was excellent. Our fourth visit and each one has been excellent.
Very good French restaurant-service and food were impeccable. Will definitely return and recommend to friends.
Simply best in Newport/Providence area!!! The five of us agreed it was the very best restaurant in the described area!!!!!
We love to celebrate special events - anniversary, birthday at Bouchard. Dan, the Maitre D is always so helpful in choosing our menu items!
It's in an odd location - the other end of Thames Street, but well worth going. It has parking associated with it. You check in, and you will be given a parking pass for a lot up the side street. If you need handicapped access, be sure to ask b/c the entrance has several steps.
I had the cod - delicious. The others in my party had a pork Wellington & seared scallops. Both were said to be superb. We went on a Sunday night in December, so it was not full, but about half the tables were occupied. It was still not noisy. Our waiter was very solicitous, which I would say also describes the ambiance of Bouchard. They even had a bowl of reading glasses at the counter in case you forgot yours!
The place has a dress code. No jeans or sneakers, no exceptions, not even in December on a rainy night. Don't let the dress code put you off. This place is worth it.
We'll be back every time we visit Newport.
The service ( MAX ) fabulous, Wine selection and service 1st class, the appetizers and entree's outstanding and dessert remarkable ( Grand Marnier Souffle and Profiterole. I can't wait to return!!
Delicious food, great presentation, romantic...will return!
I've been here five times and every time it's been wonderful. The food is sublime and the service is impeccable. You can call this a French restaurant, but the chef is always experimenting with traditional seafood, beef, and lamb dishes. The staff is extremely knowledgeable about the food and wine. You have to splurge and order an appetizer or two (or even three), a main course (off the menu or one of their specials), and a dessert (the soufflé is a must) or two. I'm already planning my return visit.
Perfect - as always - makes you wonder why other restaurants just don't get it. Restaurant Bouchard has that perfect quality of understated elegance. Great food, great ambiance, great wine, warm, cozy - just perfect on a cold rainy night on the first of December. If you haven't been there, it is really a must - quite sure you won't be disappointed.
Outstanding... truly truly outstanding
Wonderful anniversary dinner, food and service was excellent
Always wonderful! Staff and service is excellent! Food is delicious and fabulous.
My husband said the veal chop special was the best veal chop he ever had and cooked perfectly. Both our appetizers and our entrees were delicious. A quiet upscale restaurant.
Once In a Lifetime Dining Experience! We loved the Bouchard restaurant. It was a windy cold evening, so I was concerned because I did have boots on and jeans. The restaurant clearly states "no jeans." However, I was not turned away at the door, luckily. It was truly a lifetime dining experience. We were cordially greeted and they accommodated our wish to move our seat away from a blowing heat vent. The restaurant is small so reservations a must. It's quiet lovely for a quiet dinner or celebrating for a dinner. Our waiter was beyond cordial and helpful. I hesitated to get the Lobster Bisque with Basil and Garlic soup because I didn't think it would be anything out of the ordinary, having had lobster soup many times at fabulous restaurants. I was so glad I ordered it. It was the best I've had in my 69 years of eating out. The Mixed Greens, Warm Pears, Roasted Walnut, Blue Cheese & Balsamic Vinaigrette salad was shared with my dinner guest. It was flavorful and just the perfect vinaigrette salad dressing. For dessert we went with the classic cream puffs. Again excellent, creamy. By the way, our entree was the night's special. But it appeared the pork chops were ordered by many. Don't walk! Run to the Bouchard.
Best restaurant in Newport
Our experience was delightful! Our waiter was warm and helpful! Even though the menu choices were in French, he was very helpful!! No snobbishness!!! We enjoyed it all!! Especially the soufflé!! Yum! A must!!!
One of Newport’s finest restaurants featuring outstanding food, wines by the bottle, half bottle, and glass, and attentive service. The dress code is business casual, but a blazer or sports coat wouldn’t look out of place. Definitely a prime choice for special occasions.
This restaurant has been amazingly consistent over the years, with a very professional wait staff.
The menu is very diverse, and the food preparation always superb.
The Grand Marnier souffle' was delicious.
What can you say about a meal that you don't want to end? A meal in which every morsel on the plate that enters the mouth makes you go, "Hmmmmm."?
The honeydew and watermelon w/ arugula salad; the duck; the steak and lobster; and desert.. all superb. Topped off with the excellent attentive, personal service provided by Max and Carmen.
A most memorable dinner experience.
Impeccable food service and ambiance! Max our server was perfection. And the food - OUTSTANDING!!! I have to agree with other reviews - it was one of the best meals of my life too. I will make a point of returning! Worth every penny!
It was a wonderful evening. Appreciated the confirmation call with parking instructions. The food was fabulous as well as the greeting upon arrival and wait staff.
Highly recommended for a special occasion!
Never disappoints. Attractive atmosphere, excellent food and very attentive, friendly service combine to create a winning combination.
Service was perfect. Dan was quite helpful with is suggestions. The foie gras was spectacular as were the the other appetizers. Everyone enjoyed their entrees and their drinks and wine. The souffle's were over the top...a primary reason to go back again! Hopefully, soon..
Thanksgiving tasting menu (foraging) was outstanding, mostly vegetarian options. Service was exceptional. Wine pairings were diverse and interesting. Special occasion ... quite expensive, but very memorable. A highlight of our visit to Newport.
Dinner at Bouchard Restaurant was exceptional. The service that Daniel provided was outstanding, I wish I could give him more than 5 stars. We went with several of his recommendations, and were very glad that we did. If you dine at Bouchard and there is a scallop special with fennel and apple I highly recommend it. The scallops were perfectly cooked, and the flavors of the dish were perfectly balanced. Also order the soufflé for dessert - it is enough for two to share. It was incredibly light and airy, but had great flavor. We will definitely return!
Bouchard offers a great choice of different flavors from land to sea. We enjoyed our dinner that included two delicious specials: for appetizer scallops ravioli with feta and spinach and veal chop with blue cheese for entree as well as fantastic escargots with short rib and red wine and amazing re-stuffed lobster with a hint of truffle. It was our anniversary so our waiter Max brought us complimentary champagne and the chef wrote a note on our dessert plate. Amazing food and great service.
