Bottle Inn Hermosa Ratings and Reviews
We ate at the old Bottle Inn numerous times each year before it recently changed ownership. The new menu is way too limited, unlike the previous one. And the food is not nearly as good....we've been here twice since the remodel and didn't care that much for it either time. This last time I had the Osso Bucco (how can you mess that up?)....but it had some kind of funky sauce that pretty much ruined the dish. Probably won't be going back. Also, last Saturday night the restaurant was overbooked and way way too noisy and crowded.....poor scheduling I guess.
We miss the old Bottle Inn!!!!!
Been going to the Bottle in for 40 years. Now under new ownership. They did a nice job remodeling. The menu is slightly different but kept a lot of the original menu. The only thing they changed which was a signature dish was the mushroom soup. We always ordered it. However the recipe was changed and it was not very good. Nevertheless we will still come just won't order the soup. Its too bad we really like it.
It took a while for them to notice that we were sitting at the table. Once we caught someone's attention, we got water and drinks. When we ordered, the food came fast and was EXCELLENT.
I had the filet and it was superior. My wife had the Lasagna and our 93 year old friend had the fish special and it was the first time I ever saw her clean her plate. Hats off to the new owners keeping the menu the same as before. Many returns ahead.
Perfect choice to entertain out of town friends for New Year's Eve. Grateful for accommodating us with an earlier seating time. The vibe from start to finish could not have been better. Service and food were top shelf. Best garlic bread ever. Already thinking about our next meal there.
Bottle Inn in Hermosa Beach has fantastic food, an attentive wait staff and a romantic atmosphere.
It has been a hidden jewel in Hermosa for many years. I highly recommend it for romantic, special occasions or just a night out with excellent food. The wait staff is the best. They are right on top of it and if you even look like you want something - they are right there.
We were there early New Year's Year - the place was packed and so a little noisey, but other than that a great dining experience
Everything was great. Pesto was delicious! Ciopino was delicious. Garlic bread was delicious. Wine was delicious - a two bottle night for the four of us.....ok maybe 1 1/4 for the other three. Desert was delicious. Great selection of flavors/dishes to deliver a great meal to us all. You can also mix and match pasta/sauces if you like. I loved the Gnocchi - it was denser and bigger than usual. My wife prefers softer.
The food was very good and we enjoyed ourselves. The service level was lacking. Our server, while nice, seemed to be overbooked. We waited almost 20-25 minutes for an appetizer order to be taken, and a long while between dinner and the offering of dessert. When the bill was paid, he accidentally ran the wrong charge and had to redo. I have been here many times, and service has been good but this time service was not as good.
This is a restaurant too which I've been going, on and off for 20-plus years. It is my first time since they remodeled and changed ownership.
Here's what I found:
The food is the same as pre-remodel, and excellent as always
Gone is the dusty, kitschy outdated décor of the past 20+ years.
The bathrooms have been updated to the level of the restaurant itself.
Very hard wood chairs. Very uncomfortable.
Non-moveable tables at half-booths. Quite tight for a larger or pregnant person.
I have been a customer since the inception of Bottle Inn in 1974 so I wanted to love the new version.
But it hit the marks on two pet peeves I have when dining. I was not 1/4 way through my $12 house salad-which is by the way overpriced-when our entrees arrived. Have you heard of pacing?
There was only 1 other table of 4 at our 5:00 pm reservation. so it was not a matter of the kitchen being slammed.
Secondly, the server started clearing the table while I was still eating. Major fail for me.
My last meal at Bottle Inn was many years ago and not that good, however, I heard that it was under new management and very good so I took my adult grandson for his birthday , I was very happy that I did. The food was fabulous and the staff was very attentive and knowledgeable. Upon finding out that it was my grandsons birthday they brought him a free dessert with a candle, very kind of them. I have told everyone I know, gotta make sure we keep it busy.
