Located in Hawthorne"s historic Degray house, Bottagra Restaurant opened its doors in early 2008. What was once used as an encampment for General Lafayette's troops during the Revolutionary War has been transformed into a modern, elegant restaurant with the feel and charm of a Tuscan villa.     It was our 25th wedding anniversary and Bottagra is our “go to” restaurant. Our favorite waiter Jamie presented us with 2 glasses of a nice champagne for our anniversary. Dinner was great as always and they also served a delicious dessert for our celebration on the house.

    We were served a mussel appetizer that was fishy & bad We sat with the mussels we spit out for 15 minutes until our waiter came over The service was very slow Our entrees were nothing special for the price I wd def not suggest dining there

    hardly an Italian restaurant, just a banquet hall operation with awful cuts of meat, worse produce, and just bad all around; place looks like a refugee camp with their 'outdoor' tenting, friggin dump

    The staff was extremely kind and professional, the food was delicious, and the ambience was very calming and sophisticated. Luis was our server for the night and was nothing less than exceptional. He went the extra mile to make us feel welcome during our first visit to this location and took every opportunity to ensure we were completely satisfied with our service. Our visit was a very refreshing experience that had my wife and I talking about all the people we know that would love this restaurant as much as we did. If you’re looking for a great, relaxing night out for dinner, do not hesitate to reserve a table here!

    I always love Bottagra but my pork chop wasn't as good as I expected it to be. It was a little over cooked and the seafood salad had way too much calamari and not enough shrimp and crab meat.

    Always a great experience ! Edwin our server was very knowledgeable and recited all the daily specials which all sounded fantastic ! We started off with the stuffed artichoke which was best we ever had ! Entrees and dessert were just as good ! We will be back

    Excellent ambiance and background music. Sinatra, Dean Martin makes the entire meal even more delicious. Filet mignon with vegetables was enjoyable. Carrots were a tad hard but still a delicious meal.

    As soon as we entered the restaurant, we were greeted in a friendly way, they seated us at one of the tables in the middle, the noise level was vibrant but not enough to drown out the conversation. The hot and dirty martini, what an excellent idea to start the evening, and my wife had the fig martini which was perfect. Our server was always attentive to our needs and even recommend us a few items from the menu, black linguini wich was delicious and I have to say the best beef wellington I have ever eaten. Definitely we will be back.

    Bottagra, unfortunately, left us with a very bad taste in our mouths. The only way this place can possibly have a decent rating is from the parties that they throw here because the food tastes like something you’d get at a sweet 16. The octopus was the most obvious sin which bore the scars of culinary neglect. Overcooked to the point of resembling a rubber eraser, it seemed as if it had suffered a torturous fate of being cooked, refrozen, and zapped in a microwave. The disappointment continued with every lackluster dish that graced our table including mussels, black ink pasta, veal milanese, Sicilian Ribeye and some sort of pistachio ice cream with a bundt cake. All of the dishes were under-seasoned and bereft of any flavor. Unfortunately our visit was not only marred by gastronomic flaws but also by the clamorous ambiance which shattered any hopes of meaningful conversation, making the experience a challenge in itself. Adding to the woes was the lack of attention from the wait staff. For those in search of an authentic and/or just a satisfying dining experience, this place should be approached with caution.

    We were very disappointed in the Angry Chicken Parmesan - it was supposed to be spicy but it was incredibly sweet, as if someone poured sugar in it. The Shortrib Parpadelle special and rock shrimp appetizer were okay, but the drinks and oysters were very good. The food and drinks came out fast too which was nice. The pistachio gelato was very tasty as well. Our waiter seemed kind of annoyed when we had questions about the menu but maybe it was just a long day for him. We also felt a bit rushed during our meal, after our main course.

    Everything was very good up untill we were bothered by a worker taking our picture while we were trying to eat . I think that was inappropriate and that alone made my decision not to go back there to dine. After we continued to eat, he came back with about 7 pictures in frames and handed them to us to look through them while we were eating trying to enjoy a nice dinner. Again, inappropriate. Sorry but that turned us off and I feel that’s not the appropriate time for that.

    We had to adjust our reservation several times for my work schedule and they could not have been more accommodating. Service 10/10, food 10/10 (I had the halibut special and my husband had the pasta with sunday sauce). Can’t wait to go back!

    We sat at the bar and had an amazing dining experience . The bartender Chris made us great drinks and was very knowledgeable about the food . Food was excellent and service was great. We will be back ! No need to drive to NYC .

    I had veal marsala whiich had absolutely no taste! It was like eating veal coated in just flour. They had to forget the marsala wine in it! I did tell the waiter who offered to make a different veal dish for me to take home. What he should have done was deduct it form my bill. We have had great meals there before but this one was for the birds. Dissapointed to see the charge on my bill. It was terrible
