Boston Chops Ratings and Reviews
I can't quite put my finger on it, but the restaurant and the food didn't seem as vibrant and tasty as in previous years. The service, while friendly, was on the slow side. The steak, while excellent, was nothing special. Everything was average. Just average.
My sisters and I decided on a steak night - Boston Chops was an excellent choice! Formerly, Bank, it's been remodeled - more modern and open floor concept. We were seated along the side, and could hear each other quite well. Had we been seated in the middle, it might have been a little more challenging, but certainly doable. The service was remarkable - our server was very attentive, very knowledgeable about the menu, and completely charming. She talked us into the Chateaubriand (for two). OMG. Never ever in our lives have we tasted anything so amazing. It was like cutting butter. I'm afraid we are now spoiled for every other cut of meat. Meanwhile, we started with the Equatorial Iceberg - heaven! Admittedly, it's hard to screw up, but the extra touches were brilliant. the brussel sprouts and the herb roasted mushrooms were superb. Really, nothing about the meal, the service, or the atmosphere disappoints. They outdid themselves. Highly recommend!
Legit fantastic. Shared the 30 oz. Wagyu Ribeye - unreal marble. Best cut of steak I've ever had.
Our server, Tom, was fantastic. Great recommendations, no rush, easy dinner. There is nothing better than feeling comfortable while dining. 👌
Thank you all for the support service, the fantastic food, and the excellent experience. Happy holidays to all!
First time dining at Boston Chops. Excellent overall dining experience. Requested a special table off to the side to celebrate a quiet anniversary dinner. Seating request was granted and we were surprised to be presented with champagne with a sweet congratulatory acknowledgement of our special day. Service was excellent....food amazing, best beef in Boston. Popovers, French onion soup, sides, wine, speciakty
Came here on a Tuesday night for my fiancées birthday. It was slightly busy which was nice because I liked it when the atmosphere is more lively. Our servers were all nice and service was quick. We ordered the ribeye roll steak and the prime rib. However I think we might have gotten different cuts of meat because the order was incorrect on the check which they did fix. But I had not noticed until the check came because I was just busy eating and the food was delicious. We also got the crab cakes, the braised cheeks, pork belly mac and cheese and the squash. Everything was good but the squash was a little salty. The only downer was we didn't get anything complimentary for my fiancees bday. But besides that it was a very enjoyable experience
Went there with work friends to celebrate the holidays. Everyone had a great time. Four out of the five ordered the steak special, which was the top part of the rib eye. The fifth person ordered the filet. Everyone thought the meat was cooked to prefect. Excited to go again.
We were 10 minutes early for our reservation and were directed to the bar, where we stood in the way of the servers and had a drink. Our table was ready 40 minutes after our reservation time. A member of the staff apologized. The food was really good, except our pop overs were ice cold in the middle , but they brought us new hot ones.
My friend and I wanted to try a steak house in Boston for my birthday dinner. The menu provides such variety, even though it's clear they specialize in steaks. I was excited to learn that they butcher a lot (or all) of the steaks they offer on the menu in house -- this is not as common and makes a HUGE difference in the quality of the steak served. The bread service was not typical either -- popovers, which was awesome! They were so light and airy. Melanie was our server who is fabulous. She was very knowledgeable and helped to suggest a specific cut and sides that were perfect. Of course, I have a feeling we'd be pleased with anything we ordered - it was delicious and one of the best steak dinners I've ever had. We didn't make a big deal that it was my birthday, but Melanie did hear that comment. So, when we ordered the sticky toffee pudding for dessert (which was the BEST i've ever had), it came out to the table with "happy birthday" written in chocolate on the dish and a candle :) It was an unexpected surprise and very thoughtful! The entire night was fantastic and the overall experience and quality of food was amazing for the value in the South End of Boston!! Highly recommend!!
I generally enjoy Chops. On Sunday, however, my steak was cooked to my friend's request and vice versa. The waiter offered a re-do, but our timing did not allow for this. Also, both steaks were listed as 8 oz, but the NY Strip was about half the size of the tenderloin. There's only so much you can say to the waiter before threatening the mood of the evening. I expect better of Chops.
