Bosphorus Cafe & Grill Ratings and Reviews
The food was absolutely excellent. For a party of two, we ordered a vegetable pide and mixed grill platter which was more than enough for us to share, with a lot of variety and great taste. The wine was reasonably priced and a great complement to the meal, and the service is one of the best I've had in Port Washington (La Piccolo Liguria comes to mind). I will definitely be coming back here with larger parties for even more variety, because the menu is large and there's more I want to try!
One of my favorite local restaurants. The food is always wonderful from the explosion of taste to the presentation. Everything is always made to perfection. Really one of the best turkish restaurants I have eaten in in the NY area. Definitely worth the drive.
Surprisingly good. We came to this restaurant after reading universally good reviews here on Open Table. We arrived to find a full restaurant - the owner quickly found a table and chairs and made new outdoor seating for us within minutes of our arrival. When he heard it was our first time there, he pushed aside the waiter so he could personally explain the menu. We had a super dinner of a crazy specialty inflated bread, fresh humus, grilled branzino and veggies cooked to perfection. Even the wine by the glass was excellent. I think indoors in the cold weather would be more cramped and noisy - but our experience outdoors on a summer night was perfection. We'll be back!
Wow! We ate rather late after a day of sailing, so it's hard to comment on noise and ambiance. The food was spectacular. One of our party grew up in Israel. Another spent time there. Two of us have visited Turkey. We all seek out Middle Eastern and Mediterranean restaurants and agreed that this restaurant will be on our respective must-visit-at-every-opportunity list.
Bosphorus is a neighborhood restaurant that offers real good food and drink. The atmosphere is casual and the wait staff is very attentive and knowledgeable. They will recommend dishes that you would not ordinarily try and they turn out to be delicious. We eat there often.
Bosphorus is a relatively new restaurant. It is a neighborhood gem. The area has been revamped. The outside of this and the adjoining stores are covered with a lovely grey siding with a burgundy trim. The inside is small but they have maximized the space. The menu is small but you can certainly find something to eat. The food is plentiful, delicious and appealing. The atmosphere is pleasant as is the staff. We were greeted both coming and going and thanked for our business.
A great find! My wife had the Moussaka, very hot temperature wise, but a very full meal. I had the mixed grill which also provided a very generous portion. The variety of meats on the plate provided a wonderful way to sample the different kebabs, and I couldn't get enough of the jasmine rice. So glad we found this place, we will definitely be back.
Great introduction to Turkish food. Our waiter was fun, engaging and patient. Our group found the lamb kebobs, spinach/feta pide, falafel very good. Appetizers were a little small for sharing, but the entree portions were good size. Outdoor seating was pleasant enough, just a little tight.
Food is great. Excellent quality, well-prepared and large portions. Friendly service. You feel welcomed and a valued customer. We've come back many times and never hesitate to recommend it to friends. A valued addition to the vibrant Port Washington dining scene.
Aside from the novelty of having a Mediterranean menu, I feel their food is average compared to the surrounding restaurants of similar genre. Nothing in the list is ' spectacular ' , something that may bring you back because the experience, and flavor was differentiating.
The prices have gone up and value has decreased.
We eat at many middle eastern restaurants on Long Island, but I must say this rates as either #1 or #2 of the ones we have tried. The selections were abundant, all four of us loved the dishes we chose and the service was very good and responded to our few requests. The vegetables were fresh, the baba ganoush was one of the tastiest I have had, the shrimp dishes had some of the best and juiciest shrimp and everything was plated very nicely. We live in Hauppauge, but it is worth the trip to eat at Bosphorous.
On a holiday weekend my guest and I enjoyed a bottle of turkish wine that the server recommended. It was a perfect beginning to an impressive meal. The MUST HAVE bread was delivered hot and the mixed appetizers that we had the waiter suggest were fantastic. Each of the 5 samples were tasty and consumed within minutes. The whole fish dinner came out next as was equally outstanding. Everything that was delivered to the surrounding tables also looked delicious. Certainly worth a return dinner. The chocolate dessert also waiter recommended was the perfect ending to a wonderful dining experience. We ended with a turkish tea that was tasty. Run don't walk and enjoy this place this summer.
This place was a nice surprise. Wanted to try a new spot, but didn't want to pay a fortune. The staff were very nice & attentive, the food was just delicious, atmosphere was good, and all was reasonably priced. I had lavash bread with Adana kebabs and a side of babaganoush. And a pistachio baklava they make that was the best I'd ever had. Yum!
The whole fish we had was quite good. As was the humus. Service was very good even though it was quite busy. My husband opted for a side of sauteed vegetables rather than rice. Unfortunately the vegetables were inedible but the waiter was happy to bring a salad as substitute. He also brought me another glass of wine on the house, which was very nice. I was disappointed or actually bewildered that when we arrived, just behind another party of two that did not have reservations, that the other party was seated before us. I believe reservations should be honored first. It was a bit chaotic when we arrived but quited down shortly after. I did appreciate that they put a heater above the front door so as to prevent drafts when the door is opened in cold weather as the place is very narrow. I would give it another try in the future.
