About Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine - Winter Park
Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine is a family owned business, established in 2005, that offers variety of authentic Turkish food from many regions of Turkey. Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine adapted its name from one of the oldest cities in the world, Istanbul, which was once known as the Constantinople in the early 13th century. The name “Bosphorous” taken from the strait that lies in the center of Istanbul connecting the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara, Europe to Asia. The decor of this eatery is kept to minimum to draw the attention to the food. The intent was to create a modernized, warm authentic atmosphere by taking the old elements of Istanbul and combining it with some modern influences to create a truly unique experience.

Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine - Winter Park Ratings and Reviews
The owners, Doved and Tammy Sexter have taken this resturant to another level. The food is consistently good as is the service. Saad, their certified trainer is an incredibly attentive server who has an innate understanding of the hospitality business. I am at Bosphorous at least once a week - I take clients and guests there for lunch or dinner. They always deliver delicious food, amazing service at fair prices (lunch menu is so well priced).
Table was not ready at time of reservation. Half way through dining, manager came by to tell us their gas had shut off and that our entrée order had not been prepared. 10 minutes later we were told that it was back on. All and all not the best dining experience, but I would give it another try. Food was good once it finally made it to our table.
Excellent meal. We dined outside on the sidewalk, so noise was not an issue for us. They had several gluten free options, although we did have to look at the online menu for ease in finding them. I wish they would modify their onsite menu to be as accommodating. This was our 2nd visit. The 1st Time, we had a hummus platter, this time We had the lamb shanks, they were perfect. Would return again next time we are in the area.
The food is very good but very expensive. Atmosphere is cool to look at but crowded and noisy. Service was very good. The lavas bread that everyone talks about is 4.50 and is basically dry pita bread. And there are literally two bathrooms for the entire restaurant and there was a 10 minute line the entire time we were there. Was fun to try something new but we won’t be going back.
Seating was in the entrance and the staff kept the front door open allowing uncomfortable outside weather to enter restaurant making our dining experience seem like an unpleasant picnic. The guests waiting to be helped were right on top of our party while we tried to converse and dine...extremely uncomfortable. Lavash bread was under-cooked and 5 of the 6 meals were brought out together with the 6th apologetically delivered a good 10 minutes later... not the best service for a hot meal. We’ve been here multiple times and even sat at the same table one other time but this day was not worth it at Bosphorous.
Bosphorous was a great destination for a lovely Christmas dinner! the food was excellent--two of us had the salmon, another had a great chicken dish, and we loved the appetizers (calamari and baba ganoush). amazing bread. Service good and consistent, restaurant busy and a bit loud but still cozy enough to talk. We thoroughly enjoyed it. Have been here many times and will continue to return.
Christmas plans changed so needed to dine out on Xmas night... was able to land a 6:15 reservation the day before. Obviously, most restaurants closed on Xmas so the place was packed. Despite the hectic vibe, the staff service was excellent. Our waiter was friendly, made recommendations, checked on us or offered refills on every pass by the table. The manager also was friendly, making sure we felt comfortable with our table and the wait time, and even brought out the wine tasting flight (quite a nice presentation they do for that). They are proud of the Turkish wines and Turkish beers they have on their drink list.
The food was very good. My lamb dish was excellent. Wife's shrimp casserole was interesting -- more creamy & pasta than a casserole / rice dish as expected. Both dishes were served 'separated' where you could mix the entree/sauce into the rice or pasta as you liked, and they also checked on the spice level you wanted when you ordered.
Waiter made a good recommendation on our appetizer, suggesting a side order of tomato sauce for a dipping sauce for the Sigara Boregi we ordered. He was right, would have been a bit dry without it.
Dessert - 'Turkish pineapple delight' was a moist spongecake interlaced with pineapple slices. Came across as a pineapple upside down cake, without being too sweet or dry at all. And my wife tried Turkish coffee for the first time -- the espresso cup packing a power punch. Makes the morning coffeemaker pale by comparison. Very dark, thick and rich in flavor. Again, there was pride from the service both in us choosing to order it and when they delivered it.
It was definitely a good choice. First time for me for dinner. Had walked past during Sunday brunch time and saw it was always packed. Outdoor seating available for nice weather / fresh air too. Sits in the middle of the Park Ave area in downtown Winter Park, so good people watching. Dog friendly outside.
Our meal was delicious and our server Brian was very attentive. Great place to outdoor dine with a dog. The Turkish tea was a find! Great place to celebrate birthdays. They give the birthday person a free desert with a birthday candle. Open on holidays, so it is a great place if you don't have a big family event to attend. My go to place for special occasions.
The food and service were great! We had a reservation for a busy Saturday evening with a party of 7 and were seated promptly when we arrived. The service was timely and the food and cocktails were high quality. Even my fussy mother-in-law was satisfied. I would definitely go again.
