About Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine - Winter Park
Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine is a family owned business, established in 2005, that offers variety of authentic Turkish food from many regions of Turkey. Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine adapted its name from one of the oldest cities in the world, Istanbul, which was once known as the Constantinople in the early 13th century. The name “Bosphorous” taken from the strait that lies in the center of Istanbul connecting the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara, Europe to Asia. The decor of this eatery is kept to minimum to draw the attention to the food. Bosphorous Turkish Cuisine - Winter Park Ratings and Reviews
Would recommend ordering their special bread (appetizer dish). It was definitely a unique presentation -- amazing how they can bake the bread that way?!! The lamb was excellent; Chicken so-so. We enjoyed tea served in tiny cups. It was my daughter's birthday and they gave her a birthday card (already made up with her name on it) inviting her to choose one of their special desserts which we all shared 😊
I have been here only a handful of times but I am always happy with the food. It's not over-complicated. It's simplicity and freshness is what makes it so delicious. The servers are always professional but not very friendly. However, the rest of the staff (hostess, greeters) are always welcoming with a smile. Will definitely keep this as a usual spot
Great place, great food, and we'll be back again. A little annoyed with their seating policy though. Two of us arrived 15 minutes early for our reservation for four. The restaurant was mostly empty, so we thought we could take our seats, order a drink and appetizer while we waited for the rest of the party to arrive. They refused to seat us until all our party was present. Told us to go to the bar and wait there, which was packed.
Usually have a great time here. We were rushed through the whole meal. Our dinner came out before appetizer. Appetizer was wrong. We weren't even done eating, and the waiter was asking us if we were ready to box up and get the check. I will try a different location next time. And yes I had a reservation for 7:45pm nowhere close to closing.
I like the food at Bosphorous but there are two things that reduced our enjoyment of the evening. #1 The service was slow. On more than one occasion I had to grab a random server to help us as our server had been MIA for a long time. #2 The gift card policy in conjunction with happy hour is annoying. If you go to Bosphorous and want to use a Gift card, you can't use the card if you order anything from the happy hour menu. They won't split the check to put the happy hour items on a different check. Your only options are pay full price for happy hour menu items or don't use your gift card. This complication reduces the overall experience and the hassle reduces the chance we will return to Bosphorous again.
We had a fine time returning to Bosphorous in Winter Park. Parking is of course a nightmare near Park Avenue, and requires extended hunts down side streets to locate a space, evening dining early on a Saturday night as we did.
The fancy cocktails are strong and reasonable at "half off" during "happy hour." The food is outstanding, especially the lavas bread and the chicken and lamb adana kebap in the mixed grill for two, all of which is excellent.
The selection of wine and mixed drinks is good; beer selections limited but okay.
Desserts are a strong suit. We had the "baklava cheesecake," which was rich but well done, the baklava making up a kind of layer in the middle. We also had the chocolate mousse, which was excellent but so rich neither of us could finish it after the filling meal of meats and bread.
The hostesses are efficient and curt, making sure you aren't seated until your entire party arrives, and directing you to the pricey bar, which again is more reasonable at "happy hour."
The atmosphere is very loud due to the somewhat tight "half a banquette" seating where you share a long bench with neighboring parties. We found ourselves shouting the entire evening just to be heard across the table.
All in all a fine experience.
I made reservations and we still had to wait half an hour. Then, I don't have the name of our server but he did not get me my drink; my husband had to walk to him to remind him. Then the drink was super weak...no liquor, and server never came back to ask if I wanted another one (not that I wanted a second). On top of it all, my whole family received their meals and I had to wait a few more minutes for mine. The bathroom situation is ridiculous. There are only two stalls and they are right next to the kitchen where the food comes out. I had to wait a long line. The only thing that will have me come back is the delicious food! Really, really good food!
One of my our favorites! I never thought I would like lentil anything but their soup is divine especially with the delicious lavas bread. I love the chicken sauté dish for dinner (super healthy too if yo go light on the jasmine rice), my husband normally gets the chicken kebab and loves it!!
I know it was Mother's Day so I am somewhat forgiving of the noise and slow service. I am sure the chef and the waiters had their hands full. Under different circumstances I am sure I would find a great difference. Food was very good and authentic and quite filling. Prices were on par with the dishes served. My wife and I had a most enjoyable time.
While the food was good I called ahead to check to see if they has Bronzini fish the receptionist said yes. When I arrive and ordered the fish I was told they gave not had that fish for a while and wanted to sell the salmon instead. This is the third experience with this resturant playing bait and swirch.
