Food is just delicious and the staff great! Wish this place was closer to home!
We visited Borealis after not having been there for years. The menu is interesting, the service was great and we value the food being local and sustainable.
Can count on a great menu. Service always quick and friendly.
Wonderful experience. The staff were incredible and accommodating with our 8 month old dining companion. Food was excellent and there was a large selection of menu items for my friend who is celiac.
Very good meals and like that it is local food. Portion sizes very large
I brought my mom in for mother's day dinner. She had never been before. We sat in the bar. Our server was amazing! Not sure of his name, bigger guy with a beard! He was the bartenderthat day. From start to finish the entire experience was amazing! I am a server myself and can understand the importance of good service. My mother had a great time and really loved the food! Thanks for a great evening Borealis!! We will be back!!!
The restaurant was great, and just about as expected. We did book a little later so that the table was in the bar area as informed. This was still a great experience. The food was of high quality and just as everyone wanted.
The only slight problem I had was caused by Open Table itself. I just wanted to go and change the reservation from 8 to 6 people but I could not figure out how to do it. The restaurant had no problem accommodating us so it was no issue.
We went to Borealis with our kids for a Mother's day dinner. The kids enjoyed their meal but I was disappointed that despite our waitress telling the kitchen staff about my daughters egg allergy her fish taco that was supposed to come without any tartar sauce came dressed in the tartar sauce. Fortunately I noticed it before she ate it and the waitress ordered her a new one. The cheeseburger and soup I had was excellent. I also had a very good cocktail.
The food was not as good as last time we were here, very small salad with bottled parmesan,
Amazing food and service! I’ve visited a number of times and have never had a poor experience
It was a great day to spend with my wife and kids to celebrate Mother’s Day.
Service was terrible. Had to ask for second and third drinks. Server was not quick at coming back for additional drink orders. Sat with empty glasses for quite a while.
We absolutely loved Borealis. Our server was amazing and our food delicious. It was very busy and apparently our food took a while but we didn’t even notice. When the bill came we were given $40 towards a future visit and we didn’t even notice the wait. Definitely worth a visit!
We waited too long for service from drinks to appetizer to cold meal. 2 hours in total. We come many times and have great experiences this was not good at all very disappointing.
Amazing food and service every time we’ve been. Love how fresh and local the food is. Our server Luigi was very knowledgeable and friendly, making sure our every need was fulfilled. Definitely would recommend!
This location is in a unique older building. The service was quick and the food/beverages were delivered correctly and in a good time.
The food was good but not exceptional. Choices were limited but enough to give one a couple of good options
I would suggest giving this restaurant a try if in the area.
A return visit to Borealis for us as we were travelling through Kitchener. Had a great dinner - food was really good (Fish & Chips, Pork Chop, Carrot & Ginger Soup, Caesar Salad). Very flavorful, well-presented and hot items were hot. Luigi looked after us and did a great job - helpful with the menu, kept us chuckling all through the meal & made sure all was well. would definitely recommend.
This is a great restaurant! I like that they use local ingredients and serve local beer/wine. Service was great and the restaurant has a great atmosphere. The food was amazing!
Verry good food, nice atmosphere, good people, good selection of local food supplies
Excellent service- Luigi was great!
Food was very good- great first experience.
We will be back.
We were celebrating my husband’s birthday and decided to try Borealis Grille. This was a mistake. The fish was terrible. Our server offered no resolution. We would not recommend this restaurant. We eat out at least once a week and love to try new places and re-visit our favourites. When we were leaving we were thanked for coming in and everyone was very polite. We just wish our meal had been better.
I like the style of the place but the food fell short of expectation. Burger and salmon were dry. Salad was good. Service was friendly and courteous but a little slow.
Friday night date with my other half. Booked in advance online in less than 3 min and requested to be assigned at a table in a not so busy corner.
At arrival we were informed to wait at least 15 minutes and decided to try a couple of draft local organic beers from the bar. 5 min later, our table was ready and got the corner we requested.
Great selection of food, we went for the special fish plate and steak plate with butternut squash soup and kale/arugula salad. It was crowded at the moment. The waitress was very knowledgeable of the different fish options and provided great input to all the questions we had.
It took about 45 min for the main courses but it was delicious. At the end we couldn't let dessert pass and chose crème brûlée with berry sauce and cherry cheese cake. De-li-cious!
Great food, great service, and the best approach from our waitress... humble outfit, calmed, knowledgeable, great people skills.
Borealis' service unfortunately is rare to see nowadays at other restaurants that translate service into "cheer leader" approach (mini skirts, exagerated energetic voice, make conversation with details they forget almost immediately, etc).
Great experience overall. Will come back for another special day.
The food was delicious, service excellent and Luigi, the singing waiter, is most entertaining! Borealis is our "go to" restaurant for our college get togethers. Many thanks!
Great time with the family celebrating our son's 7th bday!
Great service and delicious food!
Thank you Borealis (-:
First time eating Borealis and it did not disappoint! Excellent wings with the perfect amount of sauce.
Was impressed with the quality of the food for the cost. I thought that it was going to be overly expensive because of all the locally sourced food..but found the prices to be very reasonable.
Service was great and a very relaxed atmosphere.
Will be back in a few weeks for a girl night!
We had a variety of diets and the menu accommodated everyone. Good value for the dollar, we brought our own wine which helped keep our cost in line. Service was attentive and very polite. Good night for our group.
We came to sample the new menu and were not disappointed. The seafood bowl was ringed with fresh delicious mussels and the rest had just the right amount of green curry to make it sing. The fish and chips, a favourite, came with 2 generous pieces of flaky white bass, crispy fries and a house made coleslaw. Although the restaurant was very busy the service was attentive and friendly. We'll be back soon!
Our meal at Borealis was top notch. Flavours, freshness and presentation all top notch. Our waitress was attentive and very friendly and "natural" which makes for a very relaxed atmosphere.
My only complaint (and I understand - it does happen) was the noise level. Between the music (choice and volume - I am a musician), and the overall noise in the eating area (I had asked for a quiet area) was over the top. I was actually glad to get outside to the relative quiet of the evening as I could not carry on a conversation of any sort. This would be my only critique and - as I said, it happens/
Great atmosphere and friendly helpful staff. The food was amazing!
Nice dinner but the upstairs room is so noisy! Requested downstairs but was not open.
Dined with a colleague for lunch. Staff were engaging, friendly and efficient. Food was well prepared and tasty. All around a consistent Grille that does not disappoint.
Luigi was a perfect server, attentive but did not crowd us during our date. Food was delicious as usual.
I have gone here many times and love it each and every time. Our server, Luigi, was awesome, what a character! The food was outstanding and I love the fact that it is local, right down to using cucumber in the water instead of lemon because cucumber is grown locally. The portions were good and the prices reasonable. It's nice to support a restaurant that served healthy, ethically, locally sourced food. Will definitely keep coming!
Excellent experience with friendly and informative waitress. Delicious food. We were there for 2 hours and it didn’t feel like we had to wait long for anything. Great food and great time.
I love going to this place for special events when I put out good money, get great back.
We have been going to Borealis (Kitchener and Guelph) for a long time now. Easily regularly for a couple of years. Menu changes are always nice as long as certain staple items are not touched. This time around the menu changes affected staple items that just don’t make any sense to change. Service was one of the worst we have experienced in a couple of years as well. When we asked about the menu changes we were the le by our waitress that everyone likes the change and besides “new chef...new rules “ was all she said as she walked away from us. Very rude and very unprofessional. Painfully we have to reason to go back any time soon....
This has become my go-to restaurant in KW and it never disappoints! The food is amazing, and I love how it changes with the seasons. To top it off the service is superb!
We did date night and had the salmon. Piece of salmon was to small and there was only salad with it. taste was however very good. But appetiser and desert were very good.
Tried two new menus items and were very pleased. Definitely will go back!
