Border Grill – Mandalay Bay Ratings and Reviews
The food was amazing . I went for brunch and they have a ton of different options. They have 6 different memosas to choose from. The plates are French size portions, meaning they are small plated. Which is perfect because you can get so many things and still be full but hungry enough to try something else. It took us like 4 plates each of breakfast, lunch, and dinner options, as well as dessert. Definitely would go again .
Enjoyed the small plate brunch and food was very good. They were out of a couple of items and had taken away the salad and self service option we had previously enjoyed. Also noted that almost every dish was garnished with black beans which were not listed on any descriptions and less fancier opt ions than we had on prior visits to their brunch.
We were there for CES... it wasn't took busy and our third party was over an hour late. The waitress and the manager were really cool in letting us order without pressuring us, when our other guest arrived, always checking in on us to make sure everything was okay. I ordered a Margarita that I wasn't too keen on, & the waitress (I think it was Ashley?) could tell it wasn't my favorite, and immediately said, I'll get you one you like. I liked the fact they really had a lot of GF options, not just the usual "oh-we'll-take-the-bread-off" plates. Best corn chips EVER!!
Creatively prepared, flavorful dinners. Margarita was delicious. The service was terrific. We wish we had more time to sample the small plates option. There was a friends/family table of 6 adults and 8 kids nearby and we observed our server take the time with each child, treating each with respect and still got all of her tables served. Impressive.
The dining room was noisy even though it was not busy.
We wanted a restaurant in the Mandalay Bay area because we had tickets to Michael Jackson One. We decided on Border Grill and we were not disappointed. I got the cauliflower paella and it was awesome! I assumed the cauliflower would be "riced" but it was in florets; different but very good. My husband got the brisket taquitos and they were excellent.
The prices here are very reasonable and the food is excellent. I highly recommend the
Kurobuto Pork Cheek. This is served as a starter, but once you have it you won't want anything else. We order Baja Ceviche Tostada but after a few bites we completely ignored it for the Pork Cheek. Its everything any dish should be the perfect mixture of savory, sweet, heat, etc...
Go enjoy, you won't regret it.
Premium margarita was overpriced and under poured . Chips served were greasy and stale, how did we know, brought out second and they were better. Food was ok, part of my dish was dried out like it had been under a warmer too long. One of meals took so long to come out that rest of party was asked to start and were done before the last plate was out. Beat part was the wait staff.
We did the bottomless brunch and mimosas, which were amazing and worth the $55 price tag. However, we had a reservation and it still took almost an hour to get seated. The hostess offered to have the bar tender bring us our mimosas so we could start drinking, but this never actually happened despite us asking twice. Once we were seated our server was excellent, and brought us a few mimosas past the cut off time since it had taken us so long to get seated. The food was incredible, and all 8 flavors of mimosas were amazing.
I had low expectations cuz it was Las Vegas, but the fish tacos had very fresh-tasting fish. The guacamole was also flavorful & good. The only thing I'd add is that I didn't enjoy having raw onions on my tacos/cole slaw, so next time I'd ask for those on the side. The wine-by-the-glass (pinot noir) tasted like a new bottle had been opened for me, yay!
GM Justin and Daniel are the business... I’m gonna tell all my friends! Excellent service, delicious tasting food, and tremendous value for the price. This is my go-to spot whenever I have out-of-town guests, business meetings, and family events. Keep doing what you do.
When I made my reservation at Border Grill, it was based on the location (we were going to see a show at Mandalay Bay later that evening and were looking for something nearby) and the menu descriptions I was able to read online. I was very excited to find out when we got there that this was a Susan Feniger restaurant. She was one of my favorite chefs on Top Chef Masters--her food always sounded and looked so fantastic. What I saw on TV was clearly not just for show. Our meals were absolutely fantastic. She has a way of elevating common Mexican dishes from ordinary to extraordinary...not sure how its done but I just know it was the best Mexican food I have ever had. The prices were very reasonable as well--an added bonus given the high quality of the food and generous portions!
