The blueberry lavender cheesecake was amazing!
Wonderful Mother’s Day brunch! Excellent service! Delicious food.
We had a definitely underwhelming experience. Our waiter was not attentive. The food was bland. The Mother's Day Buffet menu was not the same as the menu shown on their website and the cost was not the same either. Had I known the price and the menu, I would not have chosen Boone Tavern.
Thought Boone was quite expensive for the food selection. I've always heard Boone was great for brunch and was expecting eggs/omelettes/waffles. Instead, it was on the lunch/dinner side of the menu and not a waffle in sight . No mention of this change on the Brunch menu when i made the rez. Plus, pricey especially w/no alcohol ordered. The food was good; but, not amazing I requested a chair w/arms for my mom when i made the reservation and they didn't have a chair ready. The staff had to scramble around looking for a chair w/arms for my mom (and i feel she was embarrassed). So, the staff didn't even read the notes - rez. So, underwhelmed.. Wouldn't return...
They were wonderful to accommodate our last minute reservation on Mother’s Day. The food was fantastic and worth the quick drive from Lexington.
We will be back for dinner
This is the second time I have been to Boone Tavern in the four years my son has attended Eastern Kentucky University. We were there to celebrate his graduation. The food was amazing. The service did have a few hiccups. Apparently, there was some incident with our server that upset her quite a bit, so it took a long time for her to come to our table initially. She was very nice and did her job well, she was just extremely slow throughout the meal.
AMAZING FOOD, 10/10 would recommend!!! Can’t wait to visit again.
This is my second time here. The food is generally very good but every so often the meat can be a bit in the fatty side. Fish dishes have been consistently wonderful and the vegetarian meals have lots of flavor!!
Absolutely DELICIOUS meal and unbelievable service. The only disappointment was that they had an advertisement/picture of chocolate cake in their elevator, but it wasn't offered on the menu.
Because I booked the hotel using Expedia, I was told I did not have breakfast with my room because is was against the law for them to offer this. (Really) They said I could buy a $30 coupon for $20 which could be used for breakfast. At their restaurant two of us ordered Walleye and the waiter said they were in limited supply. I ordered the filet and was told they were out of filets. I changed to the Walleye and the waiter had to check to see if 3 servings were available. When I checked out and asked for a receipt, I was told that because I booked it on Expedia they could not print me a receipt. A very nice hotel with is under poor management and not worth the visit.
This was our first time dining at The Boone Tavern. We had heard it was good. It was better than good! We had a fabulous dinner!
Service was good. Very few people in the dining room but our food was very slow in arriving and then it was lukewarm.
Our prom dinner was wonderful!!! So special! The food and atmosphere was PERFECT!!! The filet was delicious!!!
We truly enjoyed Boon Tavern. The food was delicious and the service was warm and efficient There was a wedding reception going on in the big dining room so we were served in the smaller back dining room with no outside view. This was the only disappointment (which was totally out of there control) but it was still a wonderful experience.
Boone Tavern has been a destination for forty plus years, both for lunch and dinner. The menu combines southern comfort food with some interesting flourishes. Our group today had sandwiches for lunch and the choices presented provided all with a satisfying meal. The spoon bread is always a treat.
Service and food 5 ratings. Will return next time in the area.
Our server was outstanding
Mashed potatoes were great
Corn pudding tasted like it was made from canned corn
Very under par ..
Desserts were very good
Ham was rather dry
Fried chicken great lamb great
Easter buffet. Salmon wasn’t good. Wish they had had roast beef instead of lamb. Everything else I had was very good.
Best table in the restaurant by the front window looking out towards the park. The food is comfort food simple and good. Our waitress was very cordial and sweet with many returns with beverage refills and anything else we wanted. It was a bit noisy but it was a holiday buffet too . Small details would improve on would be change out the flowers out more often on the dining tables , more ice in the drinks . Making reservations made a world of difference got in seated quickly.. for walk ins a wait of about 30 minutes but again it was a holiday and lunch hours.
We had a person who needed special menu and your food met all the needs. However, no dessert available and the chef went out of the box to help us. Which was appreciated. The waiter Zach was extremely helpful and took care of our needs in every way. Enjoyed the day.
I will say though we picked your restaurant as it advertised omelets, biscuit and gravey and breakfast meats in addition to salads, vegetables and various meat selections and desserts. We choose an early time to enjoy. The breakfast items were not available. An omelet station would have been helpful to solve the loss. We will definitely visit again.
Easter Brunch: Opening at 11:00am, initial seating was slow as the host station went through the initial check-in list. Table service was pleasant, drinks refilled and plates cleared timely. Buffet had four stations. The cold/salad station was green salad and toppings, deviled eggs and nice size shrimp. The hot station served, fried chicken (good but not great), salmon in butter dill sauce (good), green beans, carrots, mashed potato, cream corn and I believe one other starch. The carving station was ham and lamb, both good. The dessert station had full cakes, pies, cobblers - with the raspberry cheesecake a standout for all at out table. The main room is elegant and tables are separated nicely. The side rooms were more typical banquet style. The lobby and reception rooms for the hotel are quite nice - allowing time for some group conversation away from the table.
Our reservation was at 9 am but they stopped serving breakfast at 9am. If we hadn’t got there early we wouldn’t of gotten anything.
We loved the food, service, ambiance, everything about it. It was relaxed and we will definitely be back. . Staff was exceptional! Quality was outstanding! ..
Food was delicious! They were very acommidating for my child with celiac disease! She is picky about eating out and she wants to go back!
We love the Boone Tavern! Andrew was wonderfully attentive! Chris moved our reservation and was extremely cordial. We missed the cookies on the dessert buffet but the cream puffs and cheesecake were delicious! We look forward to going back in October on our next visit to Kentucky!
Gathered for a family reunion lunch and could not have chosen a better place, everything was perfect
Not bad but nothing to rave about. We are from Chicago and our options for great restaurants are unlimited so maybe we’re too picky. Beautiful dining room and the food was good...just not great.
We had reservations and arrived 15 minutes early. We were asked to wait until our reservation time to be seated. No big deal. We waited. However, the hostess never bothered to tell us when they were ready to seat us. Five minutes after our reservation time we had to go to the hostess stand and she said we could be seated. Why?
Before the server came to our table we all had time to review the menu (there were four of us) and already knew what we wanted to order, so we all ordered drinks and food at the same time. One would think this would speed up the process a bit, but it took 50 minutes to get our food. From the time we sat down at our table till the time we received our receipt after paying the bill, we were there an hour and 45 minutes. And we didn't even order dessert. We were going to, but didn't want to spend additional time waiting for it. Service was just so-so. The server was nice and all but not very attentive.
All in all the experience was not that good. This is not our first time visiting, but we likely will not return. Beautiful dining room though.
Wonderful dinner and great service. Perfect after a long day on the road
Reunion with a cousin
Wonderful food in an historic place.
Eric was a wonderful waiter, calm, not pushy, knowledgeable about the menu, engaging and professional.
Warm Spoonbread is served at each table -delicious!
Not as good as it use to be ......even the spoon bread is not as good.....When I asked for a 2nd bite I was denied??????strange and I requested a window seat and was denied until I asked the waiter who promptly moved me.....whew
Amazing meal, highly recommend it. The staff and atmosphere are wonderful, it was the perfect experience for our anniversary dinner!
Food was delicious and price of Sunday brunch a great value!
We did Sunday brunch and the variety was amazing. Fresh fruit and the omelettes were delicious. Had something for everyone. Also very clean and decorated nicely.
The wait staff was very knowledgeable and provided excellent service. Our waiter Eric was attentive and took excellent care of us and all of the people he served.
Wonderful atmosphere in beautiful historic location. Excellent meal.
We had a lovely bunch with our relatives from California. They were very impressed with everything. The buffet was well stocked and served at the temperature it should be. The hot sooonbread brought to the table was a great addition. Will come again.
