It has been about 10 years since we have been to Boone tavern. Wow the service and the ambience was excellent as we remembered the food left something to be desired. It was just average and nothing special.
Nothing to say, except that it was a great dinning experience
Everything is always so great and everyone is always so nice to us. Sam the waitress always is so great to us service is perfect. We have always received excellent service and food.
What a wonderful place for brunch! Good service, beautiful dining area, and the food was fabulous.
Service was slow, but a weekend and a holiday. Everyone was very pleasant. Very frugal on the alcohol. Wine and whisky both.
Expected fine dining but risotto was dry, salad was the best part. Spoon bread disappointing as well.
Just to get away without kids to wind down during this great holiday
Best restaurant in the county.
Food was decent, but barely warm, and the desert item we wished to have (carrot cake) had run out even though our reservation was at 1:30 with several more hours to go for the holiday meal.
Our out-of-state guests were impressed with the history of Boone Tavern.
The food and the selection of food was excellent. Only complaint was the bread pudding - it was cold and the sauce was skimpy. I've had it before, and it was delicious, but they missed the mark today.
Our meal at Boone Tavern was simply wonderful. The service and atmosphere were excellent. Our server, Valerie was very attentive and took great care of us. We enjoyed it.
On 11/25/21 my wife and I showed up for our reservation at 9:30am at Boone Tavern. We made our reservation 3 weeks prior for breakfast time. We were counting on their regular breakfast menu and that was the reason we made the reservation. When we showed and were seated they said that they only had a continental breakfast. The menu was fruit, scrambled eggs and biscuits and some type of gravy. We asked the waitress if we could get something different because my wife doesn’t eat eggs and gravy. The waitress summoned the Kitchen Manager and he showed up at our table. He claimed that he made everyone aware the prior day by phoning everyone that the menu was as it was. He also was very rude stating that they were preparing for a large group that would be coming later for a Thanksgiving dinner. We told him that we were not notified. He insisted that he contacted everyone. We told him that we did not get a call that we were home the day he said he called and if we knew the menu we would never had shown up. He was very curt with his comment. So my wife ate nothing but a dried out biscuit. The bill came and was $31.00. I paid it but cancelled my net visit in December. We should have left the restaurant when hearing the menu but we traveled almost 30 minutes and there were no other restaurants open. We will not be going to Boones Tavern ever again and will never recommend the restaurant to anyone.
Thanksgiving breakfast. Eggs were cold, biscuits were hard and no meat selection. Atmosphere was great, but not worth the price
Great experience and service was outstanding
Portions were small for the price! But excellent customer service!
Good food and good service the dessert was good and the food overall was great
We enjoyed our lunch here on Tuesday…lovely setting, excellent service, and good food. What more could you ask for?
Absolutely EVERYTHING was perfect! From the service of Renault with the spoon bread to our other two servers, to the shared Derby Pie at the end of our brunch! The fried deviled eggs were absolutely amazing (I started out skeptical) and my Hot Brown was amazing! My friends said their salads were perfect! I can't wait to return again SOON! The meal was well prepared and quite delicious. Server was knowledgeable and accommodating with respect to food intolerances. Nice atmosphere. This was our 2nd time eating here and would eat her again for sure
Food was excellent, service was friendly & efficient, atmosphere was pleasant. Wonderful experience. Looking forward to returning.
This was a return trip to Boone Tavern after many years. Our server was lovely, the fried green tomato stack appetizer and dessert was delicious. The scallop entree was a huge disappointment, just not very good. The menu indicated that it was served with a risotto with green peas. What it came with was dry white rice with a few scallions in it. The rice lacked seasoning, flavor and a sauce. The three medium sized scallops on the dish were cooked just okay, not really seared well. I would have expected our server to tell us that the entree was not as described on the menu at the time of our order. The risotto was a big factor in our decision and we would have gone to plan B had we known.
Great food in historic ambience. In the autumn season, you better have a reservation.
Boone Tavern is a great place to stay and eat.
However, like many other restaurants right now, they are a bit short staffed.
The staff was friendly and attentive, so they are doing pretty well.
Steak frites was delicious but the fries served with it were a bit underwhelming - maybe consider something better to match the steak (and the cost).
Overall a fine experience.
Helpful waitress. Excellent food. Good menu. Good value.
The waitress was friendly and attentive. Food was excellent - we had lamb chops and a chicken and shrimp teriyaki dinner. Ambience was very pleasant. Would definitely recommend.
The dinning room is so outdated. The lights were so bright I felt like I was on an exam table. The menu is outdated and selection was poor. Deviled eggs were tasteless. They need a new updated menu. Waitress was okay ish- they all looked sloppy and no one matched. There was dead flies in the window seal. And the table cloths were dirty. They need to dim the lights- The ambiance would be much better and you wouldn’t see every flaw in the restaurant.
Old and outdated place for sure/ needs some updates and a new menu. Choices of food were slim and steak was ehh- could have better quality steaks/ food.
The food is very good. The service is just not what it could and used to be. I know it’s hard to get help right now.

Had a wonderful dinner with excellent service and very good food. The dessert was outstanding!

Boone Tavern and Inn is a favorite stopover for us when going up and down I-75. The people are great as is the food. The rooms are nice and quiet too.
We are so happy to hear that you enjoy Boone Tavern and return again and again. We look forward to your next visit. Sincerely, Melissa McGuire
Lovely evening with friends at Boone Tavern. Our waitress Alex was attentive and amazing. Love eating at Boone Tavern!
what a superb place!! I remember going there at age 5, and falling on the sidewalk, and my father dabbing the scrape with his saliva, telling me "it's all better, sweety!"
AND THE SPOONBREAD!!
Poorly prepared food overall, two of the four meals were just ok the other two were not
We love staying at the Inn and dining in the Tavern. Pretty room, upscale with delicious food and friendly service. Staff could not be nicer. We ask for a table at the window and the hostess has one reserved for us each time.
The dinner was wonderful. Our server was professional and attentive. We especially loved the Spoon Bread!
Very beautiful experience!!! :
Shrimp and grits were not eatable. Lamp chops were served lukewarm .
My husband and I took a trip to a cabin nearby for our anniversary, and the Boone Tavern was recommended by our Airbnb host. It made for a perfect anniversary evening. The food was delicious; my husband got the pulled pork Mac-n-cheese, and while it had a sweetness that he did not expect, he loved it. I had the hot brown and it was amazing. Our server was very personable and kind. We loved our time here, and hope to come back another day.
Thank you for spending your anniversary with us at Boone Tavern. We greatly appreciate your business and can't wait to see you again soon. Kindest regards, Melissa McGuire General Manager
Food was great. Service prompt and unassuming. They were out of one of the entrees we wanted, but the substitute was perfectly acceptable.
The spoonbread is fantastic! Overall it is a very good restaurant. Prices are reasonable and service is good. To be outstanding there needs to be more consistency from the students servers.
