Bookmakers Restaurant - Holiday Inn Saratoga Springs Ratings and Reviews
We eat at Bookmakers at least once when in Saratoga Springs. The food is good and you avoid all the racetrack crowd. It is easy to get a table. Although the menu changed a couple of years ago, the Jim Dandy rib eye and Prime Rib are still available and terrific. Andrew is a terrific server and everyone is nice.
This restaurant is very nice and fancy, and the service is decent, but the food was terrible and I thought that it was a waste of my money. The broccoli that I ordered was overcooked and tasteless, and the portion sizes were way too small for what I was paying. The menu is also very misleading, because the appetizer I ordered did not say that it would cost extra just to get a small second dip with my chips; I was under the impression that 3 dips were included. On top of that, the cocktail that I ordered was nasty, so it did not improve my experience at all. Definitely won't be back.
I made a reservation for my vacation. I did not stay there, but was close. Unfortunately, I walked in and was the only one in the restaurant. They explained that there was a wedding that night with most of the guests attending. I had a very good experience! They were here attentive and accommodating. The food was very enjoyable and cooked the way I asked. No one rushed me out a d let me enjoy my coffee.
We had a reservation for Bookmakers and arrived on time. We were seated promptly, and the restaurant was about three-quarters full. We sat at our table for 25 minutes and no waiter came by, even for a drink order. We ended up leaving before our waiter arrived. People seated after us got service, but we seemed to have been forgotten about.
We had a corporate meeting at the Holiday Inn that was fantastic and wanted to have lunch together as a team afterwards. Unfortunately, it was a race weekend and many of the offsite locations were booked. We decided to try the Bookmakers right in the hotel and while it was quiet and we had the place to ourselves, the waitress actually seemed terribly annoyed that we were there and showed her lack of care and customer service in each spoken word and with each facial expression. We had a vegan in the crowd and that really annoyed her the most. She did nothing to try to accommodate us and let's face it...we may have been the only tip of the day as there were no other patrons in site except for a 2 top. She even told them she would 'be awhile' to take their order since she had our table. We left her a very small tip to show our dissatisfaction and spoke to the manager afterwards. As an event planner, I was very displeased with the level of service here and it would make me not want to use the entire facility again.
This is my 3rd time here and the food is great! If you like a place where you can have a conversation and hear each other, the dining room is perfect for this. The food came in a timely manner and was nice an hot. Our server could have been a little more attentive.
Bought the New Year Eves package that included a dinner buffet, king room and buffet breakfast. The service was impeccable. Dishes cleared as soon as they were empty, drinks filled immediatly. As far as the food goes it was very good, though selection was light. The prime rib was cooked just right and the server cut generous portions. Breakfast offered a little more selection and the omelett/creps made to order were excellent. I look forward to a visit so I can order a'la carte.
This is my second time at Bookmakers Rest and both times I've enjoyed everything. It's a nice quiet place where you can relax and enjoy spending time and talking with the people you are with and actually hear each other. The food was delicious and service was perfect.
Attended the Mother's Day Brunch with my husband, two daughters, and two of my grandsons. The food selection was extremely appealing to everyone in our group, from the youngest to the oldest (which was me!). Although we know there were several timeframes set up for the reservations, we did not feel rushed. The young lady who served our beverages was cheerful and helped make the occasion a wonderful experience!
We were actually excited to try Bookmakers after reading all the descriptions but when we
got there it was a total let down. With only 10 menu items, the atmosphere of an empty Dennys,
a patio that overlooks a parking lot, 10 minutes to wait for water, and people who came in after us
being waited on first, we left. The menu options were abysmal and overpriced. You truly knew you
were in an old style motel restaurant. Very disappointing as we have enjoyed other Holiday Inn
The crepe & omelet station was outstanding - well worth the money spent for brunch!! The rest of the food was a little dried out from being heated for too long - the waffle sticks (not really belgian waffle as advertised) were not edible. On a side note - the restaurant never checked for reservations so we had a very brief wait while they set the table for 9.
The ambiance was great! We went on a Monday evening and there were very few people dining there at that time, so it was extremely quiet in the restaurant. The food was ok, but not as good as I expected. I had chicken cordon bleu and I have had better at other restaurants. I was a bit bummed about that..... The chocolate peanut butter dessert was pretty appetizing and perfect for sharing with a date.
service was awful,as i understand it our waiter was also taking care of room service.not so good coffee was 2.95 per cup,and refills were also 2.95 per cup.because we had a coupon a 18% tip was figured in to the bill, the service wasn't worth a 5% tip.my wife and i eat out often, when we have good service we will leave a 20-25% tip.i have never ate out where they charge for a 2nd cup of coffee.i asked about this and was told it was policy.bad policy as far as i'm concerned.its too bad that because of over worked staff and an extra 2.95 for a 2nd cup of coffee we will not be returning.all and all it was a very disapointing evening for my wife and i.
Would not accept a gift certificate, even though there was absolutely no mention (in any form) prior to dining (in other words, nothing on the certificate itself)that stated the certificate was not valid. Was told when settling the bill that this particular night was 'considered a holiday' (new years eve? not a true holiday as far as I can remember) & they couldn't/wouldn't honor it. When I questioned all of this, was told that "this came from the management" desk (no manager ever came over personally to tell me this, mind you.) So, it set the evening off on a rather rough start & I now need to use the certificate at a later time (which will cost me more time/$ to plan) but I don't want to lose/waste yet more $, leaves me w/ a bad feeling..
Went on a Saturday, late afternoon, in December. There was only one other couple besides us. Lots of TVs. The closest TV had the Weather Channel on it. Not very exciting, but I guess we weren't really there to watch TV. We went specifically for their Restaurant Week lunch special, and at first, the staff was not aware that they were offering the lunch special, which was a bit off-putting. They were friendly nonetheless, yet not very attentive in some ways. Food ended up to be tasty despite the fact that they didn't seem to be familiar with the lunch special. It's probably a lot more fun and lively during Saratoga's busy summer season.
