Bookbinder's Seafood and Steakhouse Ratings and Reviews
The food here was amazing and cooked to perfection and exactly how we ordered it. The service was a little slow, but that may have been because it was the weekend before Valentine's Day and maybe they were very busy. The owner came around to every table personally to ask how everyone enjoyed their meal, which was nice and felt personal, but he slightly overstayed his welcome at each table. Overall, a great date restaurant.
Great place to eat . Especially if you are trying to wine and dine your significant other . Very classy and the food was great and my waiter was very nice . Thank you to the owner who actually stopped at my table and talked to me and my date . God Bless him. Go Eagles!
My husband and I went there on our date night! With so many empty tables , the hostess put us st a table next to groups of people! They were celebrating so it was noisy! Our waiter was great and very attentive but for the food was mediocre and nothing really that especial! I don’t think will be back there again !!
In Richmond for a dog show and absolutely loved everything about this restaurant. If you'e familiar with the original from Philadelphia, and miss it , its a must go and experience it all over again. I'm not a big seafood eater like my husband, and the kitchen prepared a lovely pasta entree for me.
Recently dined at Bookbinders for a special birthday dinner for 8 people. Really happy when we were seated in a separate alcove within the restaurant which gave us some privacy (also nice because we had a child in our party as well). They also printed up a special menu in advance with the name of our birthday guest at the top which was a nice touch. The food was great and served at a reasonable pace with no complaints on overall quality (the steaks were especially tasty). The menu is very pricey, but Bookbinders is a great choice for a splurge outing to celebrate a special occasion.
I'm remiss in not writing my review sooner of our Wedding Anniversary Dinner. My excuse is that if I wrote the review, the wonderful night would be over. Almost a month later I am savoring every moment of the ambiance, food, service and romantic atmosphere. Every single moment was perfection, from the moment we walked in, to receiving a beautiful table in the beautiful room, to the visit from Jayme Taxin (one of the owners), to the marvelous dessert -- it was absolute a great night. The steak was perfection, the side orders heaping and the table was absolutely stunning. Thank you for a night of perfection.
Good experience here with my husband for my birthday dinner. Waiter never mentioned the occasion so we just let it be. Owner came by tables but missed ours as we were having a romantic moment. Not sure if that was intentional or to give us privacy. Steaks were juicy and delicious as was the raw tuna appetizer as well as the NE clam chowder. Great place for a special occasion or private function. A bit pricey but well worth it. We were returning guest who highly recommend and will return in the near future.
I try to go as often as I can. Its great with special friends and all enjoy the cozy atmosphere. The filets are the best in town and the Lobster mac and cheese is always a big hit. Still remains my favorite restaurant in Richmond. Like to get there about 45 minutes before seating to enjoy the bar, we love Morgan, she seems to always be there. We have had large groups there as well and they have great private accommodations.
Strongly recommend Bookbinders!
The food and ambiance was excellent. The waitress was horrible. She continuously reached across me to pour drinks and conduct refills. Most unacceptable was when she handed my wife coffee with spilled coffee on the saucer. I gave my coffee and clean saucer to my wife, handed my wife's coffee back to waitress, just to have her pour the coffee on her tray and hand it back to me. I immediately asked for a new cup of coffee with a clean saucer. I get better service at Starbucks and do not have to pay over $200 for a meal.
The overall meal was good but not as good as previous visits. Food temperature wasn’t quite as hot as it should have been. My filet was butterflied without asking as I would normally expect the waiter to ask. Tyler did not ask me. The soup portion was tiny and not worth the $7 price. Creme Brûlée was also sub par and disappointing. We have dined here in numerous occasions including special o events and business dinners. Overall sadly, I would choose other steakhouses as my first choice rather than returning here anytime soon.
My husband and I visited Bookbinder’s on a very cold late December evening for his birthday dinner.
Unfortunately, we were not very hungry when it came time for our reservation, but we enjoyed our meal nonetheless.
We were greeted by a friendly server with water who happened to be our server for the evening. I ordered a Manhattan - with my requested Basil Hayden’s bourbon, and he ordered an old fashioned. Both drinks were very nice.
My husband had an arugula salad which was delightful, and we both ordered the rockfish entree, which was served over wild rice with a pecan sauce. We had a side of asparagus to share. We found the dishes to be enjoyable and had no complaints about our meals. We did not order steaks, however, we saw a neighboring table’s fillet mignon, and it looked great.
The ambiance in this place was a wonderful “loft” feeling, with exposed brick, and was decorated nicely for he holidays.
The menu is primarily seafood, and I would highly recommend for those who enjoy such. It would have been nice to see some non shellfish appetizers, as we would’ve likely ordered if that were he case.
The dessert menu was tantalizing, however we skipped dessert this time.
I would’ve been pleased if they would have done at least something for his birthday, as it was listed on our reservation. Our server did wish him a happy birthday when we were seated, but that was the extent of it.
A very modern menu with plenty of local farm to table choices mixed in with some Bookbinder classics--turtle soup, Caesar salad and large juicy steaks. Lots of seafood and fresh fish options for the non-beef eaters. Terrific and warm bar upon entering and a delicious meal followed. A great combination and a lovely evening.
