Boogaloo - St. Louis
Great restaurant with spicy innovative selection. Highly recommend.
Very fun place— swings at the bar, interesting decor, unique menu, great drinks. We were seated at our reserved time, no waiting. Our waitress was fun and enthusiastic with good recommendations about the menu. We had 7 in our party: drinks, appetizers and meal were served promptly. Everybody loved the cigarros and jerk wing appetizers, jambalaya and paella were very good, the Cuban style sandwiches were also tasty. Serving sizes were appropriate. I had my 1st caipirinha and it was excellent! Will certainly go back for more.
It's happened twice so far, I mention Boogaloo as a dinner choice and he says, "I was just thinking about going there again." It's the kind of food and place that draws you back. I'm not very adventurous but I haven't eaten the same meal twice yet. Each time I leave satisfied and wanting more. We'll be back.
The Cubano sandwich was really good and half even better when taken home and eaten the next day....the food was really great overall!!! Our server was very attentive....
A genuinely great experience. Waitress was a phenom and very careful to explain how food was prepared and made great recommendations. The place was a tad noisy on a Sat. evening, and a little hard to have a good conversation but I would rate this as one of the best experiences I have had since moving to St.L 6 years ago.
Came out for Valentine’s day, they presented my wife with a beautiful red rose. We were sat quickly to our reserved table, and our drinks and order was taken very quickly. It was busy, but everything was quick, and the food was delicious. We’ve been coming to Boogaloo for three years now (if I remember right) and we’ve never been disappointed.
Pasta was good, kinda close to your neighbors while seated, service was excellent, swinging bar chairs were a definite plus!
Visited on Valentine's,Food wait was a little long;everyone was ordering the filet special. It was worth the wait. All 4 courses were excellent. Our wait was made more tolerable because of the constant attention of our waitress,Shia(Shee A Queen). She was charming.
Friendly staff great food
This was our first time dining here and we will be back!
Always enjoy this establishment. Had the Caribbean Tacos with shrimp, very good
The blackened fish Po'boy sandwich was so delicious! !!! If I hadn't already had the spinach & artichoke empanada (which wasn't that good) I would have ordered another one.
This alcohol level in the drinks were not that intense & the pricing for them is way more than what you get for your money. I wish there were swings at both bars.
Our waitress was nice but one server that brought out our food made no eye contact and basically just dropped our plates diem and walked away as if we were bothering her. I would like to see what the new space will look like in November but until then I'll keep trying new places.
We had a great time at Boogaloo on 1/26/19. I do not like spicy hot food but was able to find some dishes that you can leave the sauce off of, like the crab empanadas. The order of three tacos was very good. The sangria was good. No problem with the sound level. Cute place. Will go back.
The absolute best Cuban sandwich, mango cole slaw, and very good Margaritas.
Boogaloo is always a great time. The swing chairs at the bar are always in demand.
We had a relaxing New Year's Eve and did NOT have to order for a special menu.
That is why we decided to try Boogaloo....and really enjoyed our experience.
We have a yearly date night with family that come from out of town. Our family lives a vegetarian lifestyle and Boogaloo had so many options for them to choose from. It truly is vegetarian friendly. The crab empanadas and cigarro cubanos were our faves. Our family raves about the plaintains. We will definitely be back.
We had so many tasty dishes we all shared. So unusual and some pretty standard fare, all delicious!
Our waitress was informative and attentive.
Great find and a nice alternative to chains.
Fun place with a Cuban flavor. Our family had dinner, drinks and watched the Blues game
Loved the cuban cigarros tapas and carribbean tacos. Those were a hit!!!
Cute swings at bat but made seating a bit cramped. Overall good experience
I have visited Boogaloo several times and was absolutely shocked at the poor service I received during my last visit. The server had a very cold demeanor and appeared very annoyed to be helping us. She made very snide comments towards us throughout the night and forgot to add items to our order. I was there with small party for my birthday and she was made the experience very dull. She was not personable or attentive. I would only recommend Boogaloo for the unique food and bar experience. Not a great choice for customer service or special events. I emailed the restaurant regarding my poor experience and have yet to receive a follow up.
I had a wonderful meal, but was really disappointed to learn after arriving home that the restaurant had reported me as a no show, jeopardizing my open table account. I’ve never had a problem with any other restaurant before this. I called the restaurant and asked that this be corrected, but have my doubts, since my attendance wasn’t recognized when I was there.
For what it is, a five star would be justified. They do what they do very well. Nice variety of unique items.
That was fun! We went out for dinner there, right after Halloween and had a really nice time at Boogaloo. This is a great place to grab some tropical food in the St Louis area. We tried the Ropa Vieja and Paella dishes. Both were pretty fine renditions and were provided on a bed of coconut rice, which was fabulous. The drink menu included both Caiprihinas and Mojitos and the beer list was pretty nice. In South Florida that Cuban revolutionary pumpkin would have raised some eyebrows.... but we'll assume that was a Halloween "trick" and count dinner as a treat!!!!!
Our group was seated promptly. Service was attentive and helpful to address questions. Paella was very good and others enjoyed meals also. One note the web menu is very out of date so use only as a reference not to decide in advance.
The best Cuban sandwich ever, and good Margaritas.
The short blonde bartender with the blonde bob cut was very rude to the point that we lost our appetite and decided not to order anything else but the appetizer that we had already order. We had to ask her several times if she could move the glasses left there from the previous customers and to wipe the bar off. She did everything else but our requests and took care of other customers and placed us last. Other customers recieved a warm welcome from her but we never received a hello at all nor did she ask us if we needed anything. The order we had placed for the appetizer was taken by our table waitress before my company and i decided to move to the bar. She made us feel very discriminated against either because we were a same sex couple or because we are black. Either way because of her i would never visit the boogaloo again.
Good food, Good atmosphere, and Good service! I would recommend this restaurant for everyone.
Entrees and appetizers are superb. Sandwiches are good but not great.
As authentic New Orleans and Carribbea m aa I have had outside of those places. Quaint spot. Hope it stays small. Looking forward to my next visit. Mo from Virginia
Consistently interesting menu and well-prepared sandwiches, appetizers, and entrees.
Delicious Ropa Vieja, amazing fresh peach margaritas
shrimp poor boy was good, but not outstanding. A little on the dry side. Calamari was good for the most part - a few of the larger chunks were rubbery as all get out, but the flavor was excellent.
Loved it! We were celebrating a friend's birthday and it was all of out first time. Great service, the food and drinks were great and there was a variety!
My wife and I had a great meal last Saturday evening. She had a sandwich and I had an entrée. The food had lots of flavor.
Great food. Great drinks. Crab empanadas are a must.
The best item was the fried hearts of palm. Everything was good except the crab empanadas.
Hit or miss dishes- not at all what we were hoping for.
from the pineapple mojito to the bread pudding - delicious! what a gem - swings at the bar- yep, swings! Had crab empanadas, shrimp diablo, jambalaya, all great.
GO HERE! The service was charming, too. We'll be back.
