Bonterra Trattoria Ratings and Reviews
Great ambiance and service. Our waiter was friendly and helpful with selecting wine and appetizers for our group of 4. The fettuccine linguine starter was superb and fresh, the charcuterie was amazing, and entrees were satisfying. I had the Marazzulo(?) entree (cod dish) and it was delicious, though a bit on the small side. Fine dining, romantic.. Would try it again
Perfect date night, and our first time at Bonterra. The food, service, ambiance, everything were amazing. We had the four course meal and also sampled the calamari which was delicious and very unique. Our server (a Hungarian gentleman, who’s name I can’t recall) was very attentive and did an excellent job of timing the courses and giving us enough time to chat and digest in between. He was also kind enough to bring us some new straws when he overheard a comment I made about the ones we had in our waters being too short. He was very knowledgeable in the wine menu and made an excellent recommendation for us, and overall made us feel very welcome. Everything was very reasonably priced too. 5 stars. Will be back for sure. Thank you for a wonderful evening.
We were greeted warmly, shown to our table and the server was very friendly - he even brought us some prosecco on the house as we were celebrating our anniversary. The food was interesting and delicious. When he brought the dessert, he put a candle in it, lit it and wished us a happy anniversary, which was a lovely touch as well. I'd definitely recommend this restaurant and would love to come back in the summer time to sit on the outdoor patio as it looked beautiful and I hear it's the nicest outdoor patio in Calgary.
We attended Bonterra with gift certificates in hand as we were giving the establishment a second chance as a server issue made our first couple visit as not so pleasing. We were greeted by the manager with a glass of Prosecco each with a thank you for giving them a second chance. Our waitress was very attentive, the manager stayed in touch throughout the entire meal and the chef stopped by the table as we were allowing him to present a four course chefs choice. The courses and the experience were over the top. The desserts and the wine were delectable. We will definitely head back to Bonterra again.
Our quick lunch was delightful as we arrived minutes before close.
The only shame is the parking, I recommend to every other guest to follow, MAKE SURE YOU YOURSELF HAS THE RESTAURANT REGISTER YOUR VEHICLE, don't count on them to ask if you park in the attached lot. After lunch we received a 65$ parking ticket, do to failure to register. Lot attendants mentioned it was up to the restaurant staff to do so for their patrons.
always a good meal..great ambience and helpful servers... only issue was that pasta dishes at lunch come in two sizes and prices,, the server never asked us which we preferred and brought us the larger more expensive portions that was too much for the person I was with...
Creative + unique flavour combinations. Extensive wine selection. Despite excessive ambient noise due to maximal occupancy, server was able to provide timely table side attention. We will return—hopefully on a less busy evening.
It was five years since we'd last eaten here. We had very fond memories of celebrating a previous anniversary here and wondered whether there was any chance it would be anywhere near as good again. I was hoping that my online reservation and note that it was a special occasion might have initiated some sort of small acknowledgement that we were there for an occasion. Sadly not ... so in hind sight I should have been a little more overt about this.
But for the rest, Bonterra did NOT disappoint.
We love the ambiance, there's a bit of a vibe, the rustic decor ...
The food is fabulous, creative, fresh and somehow unique. I loved the opportunity to try the taster menu which is a highly recommended way to enjoy the variety on the menu. Serving sizes are small but adequate.
The recommended wine was superb.
The friendly, knowledgable staff rounded off the great hospitality!
Had a great evening with friends to celebrate a birthday and catch up after a long time. Our meals took longer out of the kitchen, which we barely noticed, however we were given complementary appetizers and we were asked on three separate occasions if we needed anything else. The food was very flavourful and service was prompt and attentive. We had a great evening and appreciated that we were in the upper level quieter part of the restaurant, we had no trouble with volume which is sometimes the case in a full and popular restaurant.
We stopped in for a late season patio dinner. They have a great patio. We shared the caprese salad, the shrimp appetizer and the clam pasta dish. The tomatos were delicious, and the clams were fantastic. A fresh fruit bowl with strawberries, rhubarb purée and ice cream for desert to finish. So good as always
We had the Risitto and it was not only delicious but a perfect serving size. It wasn't super busy but regardless the service was extraordinary. Every time our server walked by you could see he was keeping an eye on whether or not anything else was needed. AND we never felt rushed!
