Food was fabulous! Can’t wait to go again!
Always fantastic service and food. My favorite place. Perfection!
Great fresh fish and oysters
I visited this place about 2 times in the past. My first time I was amazed! Great drink selections, great seafood, & great service!! My second I was unhappy however tht was due to my party not booking when they said they did. Third time ? Amazing! As expected. My bf loved it! Great food, great service, & a good time. This made our date night more special. This is a great establishment and I can’t wait to visit again
Simply fresh seafood. We stuck to the basics and had a shrimp and snow crab kettle! Done to perfection and we talked about it for the rest of the weekend. Also had the mussels in Thai curry ... delicious!
Angel was a terrific service... beyond professional. She truly wanted us to have a great time and a great meal. She obviously knows the product and got excited when I ordered a glass of Albariño because she enjoys it. Just a really lovely dinner !
My friend Marc and I had a fantastic first trip to the Bonney Read. We were welcomed by the warm staff. Jen our server was very attentive. We were there for Restaurant Week. We had the Green Chowder which was really flavorful. Marc had the Short Rib I had the Flounder. For dessert the chocolate cake for two!
I loved the ambiance. Will definitely be back to enjoy a cocktail at the bar. It was very lively with great energy. James Avery is one of the best Chef/Owners in Monmouth County. Looking forward to my next visit.
This was our first time at restaurant. Our waitress was very attentive and the food was awesome. Everyone in our party was more than pleased with their menu selections. Low key environment but upscale service and food. Definitely will be back and already spreading the news about this gem In Asbury.
My birthday ! The food was ok at best other people’s reviews for not correct we waited about 1 hour for fish tacos that very little flavor and a chicken sandwich that was mostly dark meat but what bothered me the most was as I was waiting I kept looking towards the kitchen seeing why it was takining so long because the restaurant only had 4 tables filled and it was a Sunday I watched the cook Continuously Twhirl his hair with his fingers with and with rubber gloves on his hands and the fix the food I told the manager he went back to tell the cook he then was go wing me dirty looks I felt very Uncomfortable I don’t know why they get such good reviews it average at beat !
Great drinks, fresh seafood, great service... but $4.00 for a cup of coffee?
Fresh fish very tasty, well prepared. Good poke.
The food never disappoints here. The crab is so fresh and delicious!
Small menu, but fresh!!!! Drinks awesome, food awesome, staff was friendly. Casual attire for sure. Will be back as soon as I can. Love the Ultimate Bloody Mary!!!!
Oysters and fish & chips - delicious!
The food was very good as was the service (albeit it a tad on the slow side getting our food) however the noise level in this establishment is really CRAZY loud. I might go again if I could get outside seating but the inside seating is just FAR too loud for me. The music is so loud that people have to talk so loudly to be heard and the noise reverberates off the tiled walls and floors it's just insane. Shame because I did enjoy the food.
My sister brought me for a birthday treat. As a local, I believe they have the best seafood in the area. We shared the bucket 1.5 lb lobster, snow crab claws, shrimp, corn, and potatoes. Absolutely delicious and way too much for two so we both brought home the leftovers. Everything cooked to perfection. Service was great, so were the cocktails.
Always consistently fresh delicious seafood and raw bar. Arby is attentive and upbeat.
This was our first visit to Bonney Read. Three of the four people in our group ordered seafood and were happy with their entrees. I ordered the ribs and thought the flavor was good, but felt they were under cooked. (I took the ribs home and cooked them the next day for one hour at 350 degrees, and enjoyed them for dinner.) I would not recommend them. I would, however, recommend the FISHERMAN’S FRY small plate (shrimp, calamari, kale blossoms, chile peppers, marinara or homemade sweet chile). The staff was friendly and the service was good. I would try this restaurant again.
Our go to place for fresh seafood and friendly staff. Our guest are always pleased with their choices!
We had a great time at the Bonney Read. We started with a cocktail from an extensive and creative drinks menu. Our waitress Amanda was a big help choosing our drinks and dinner. She was very warm and friendly as well as knowledgeable. Or appetizers were excellent and the lobster roll is definitely worth coming back for.
It was my first time there for dinner! WOW, incredibly fresh. Loved out waitress too. She was super knowledgeable and came over just enough. We got to sit at this great corner table. My only complaint is the AC was on too high and we were freezing. To start, we ordered the tuna poke; so fresh. Then I have the tuna and broccoli rabe. You can def. go wrong with broccoli rabe but they cooked it perfectly and the cole slaw was excellent. My date had the mako and loved it. Our drinks were delish too! Def. would come back.
Excellent food with a fun vibe. Mussels and lobster bisque were excellent!
Our meal at Bonney Read was wonderful.
Started with our server, Amanda G. who couldn’t
have been more pleasant and efficient.
the food was excellent. Crab sliders, fish and chips
(the chips were the weakest part of the meal)
excellent humus and naan, and great drinks.
Overall a great experience in Asbury Park NJ
As always, everything was amazing. Our favorite spot in AP.
It was good food. service was good. had our table all ready for our reservation. i would go back.
Always a great experience when we come here. Not my first and not my last visit. If you love crabs, you will love their snow crabs. They are sweet and full of crab! Service is always beyond stellar. We had Jackie tonight and she was fantastic. She was attentive, personable, and on point. Kudos to management here because you’re employees rock. I highly recommended this place for a date night, a night out with family or even a solo drink at the bar. It’s inviting and the food is delicious!
Possibly the best seafood on the shore . Prepared straight ahead for the most part . Grilled , steamed ... delicious jersey corn chowder with chorizo . Oysters were ice cold . Specialty drinks were good . A little complicated and variation in taste between the tequila and vodka drinks . Lobster Roll was nicely done . We would definitely go back . Noise level a little loud nice location with a lot of windows and great views of downtown Asbury
Our waitress, Angel , was the best. She anticipated all we needed. She was so great. Haven’t had such a great waitress. Just an overall wonderful experience. Mainly due to wonderful food and great service by Angel
Found the food to be just OK, nothing that really rocked. The oysters we had as appetizers, while pricey ($3.50/oyster), were delicious. My husband got seared tuna, which came as a small piece of tuna with minimal sauce, crowded by a pile of french fries covering half his plate. Tuna needed more of the green sauce because without it the fish was kind of bland. I had the pasta with clams. Again, it was just...OK. Not terrible, but also didn't blow me away. From what I could see from reviews, their star dish seems to be their whole lobster roll ($30), so maybe that's what to order when you come here. Waitress was attentive, can't complain about the service. Noise level was manageable because we sat outside. Inside, not so much.
Second time and last time. Food was horrid. My tuna looked like someone just through it on the plate as a second thought and it tasted as if it had been laying around for a few days. The noise level is high but it is a bar. If you are dining, stick with fried food and burgers.
Great assortment of cocktails. The entrees were so plentiful we had to bring home doggie bags. The food was delicious and well priced for the portions. Ended with an out of this world key lime parfait. Our waitress, Amanda, was delightful. Looking forward to going back for another fun evening.
It was great!
Had to send back the drinks; raw bar pricey and completely tasteless. Charged $4.50 for my daughter’s seltzer in a kid’s cup. Very expensive for such mediocre food.
We had a very good experience here. We had a reservation for a party of six and we were seated immediately. The atmosphere is upbeat and the service is good. We enjoyed the food on the menu, especially the lobster, clam strips, and fish sandwiches. The king crab from the raw bar was cut into pieces that were a bit small, but still good. The cost is a bit on the high side, but we definitely recommend this restaurant.
Food was amazing. Drinks were delicious. Oyster shooters were to die for, cucumber one was an interesting variation that I had never tried before. Server was great.
I had seen good reviews so I tried it. 1. Thought the menu was too limited. 2. The place wasn’t crowded and the service was slow. 3. I thought the prices were out of line with the quality. It wasn’t bad, just not overwhelming.
First time dining at Bonney Read was on a Tuesday evening. Best steamers I’ve had in a long time. Lobster special was same. Right up there with our favorite lobster pound dinners in Maine. We’ll be back!
Mediocre lobster roll that took 30 minutes for $30. Too many better options in the vicinity
