Excellent food with a fun vibe. Mussels and lobster bisque were excellent!
Our meal at Bonney Read was wonderful.
Started with our server, Amanda G. who couldn’t
have been more pleasant and efficient.
the food was excellent. Crab sliders, fish and chips
(the chips were the weakest part of the meal)
excellent humus and naan, and great drinks.
Overall a great experience in Asbury Park NJ
As always, everything was amazing. Our favorite spot in AP.
It was good food. service was good. had our table all ready for our reservation. i would go back.
Always a great experience when we come here. Not my first and not my last visit. If you love crabs, you will love their snow crabs. They are sweet and full of crab! Service is always beyond stellar. We had Jackie tonight and she was fantastic. She was attentive, personable, and on point. Kudos to management here because you’re employees rock. I highly recommended this place for a date night, a night out with family or even a solo drink at the bar. It’s inviting and the food is delicious!
Possibly the best seafood on the shore . Prepared straight ahead for the most part . Grilled , steamed ... delicious jersey corn chowder with chorizo . Oysters were ice cold . Specialty drinks were good . A little complicated and variation in taste between the tequila and vodka drinks . Lobster Roll was nicely done . We would definitely go back . Noise level a little loud nice location with a lot of windows and great views of downtown Asbury
Our waitress, Angel , was the best. She anticipated all we needed. She was so great. Haven’t had such a great waitress. Just an overall wonderful experience. Mainly due to wonderful food and great service by Angel
Found the food to be just OK, nothing that really rocked. The oysters we had as appetizers, while pricey ($3.50/oyster), were delicious. My husband got seared tuna, which came as a small piece of tuna with minimal sauce, crowded by a pile of french fries covering half his plate. Tuna needed more of the green sauce because without it the fish was kind of bland. I had the pasta with clams. Again, it was just...OK. Not terrible, but also didn't blow me away. From what I could see from reviews, their star dish seems to be their whole lobster roll ($30), so maybe that's what to order when you come here. Waitress was attentive, can't complain about the service. Noise level was manageable because we sat outside. Inside, not so much.
Second time and last time. Food was horrid. My tuna looked like someone just through it on the plate as a second thought and it tasted as if it had been laying around for a few days. The noise level is high but it is a bar. If you are dining, stick with fried food and burgers.
Great assortment of cocktails. The entrees were so plentiful we had to bring home doggie bags. The food was delicious and well priced for the portions. Ended with an out of this world key lime parfait. Our waitress, Amanda, was delightful. Looking forward to going back for another fun evening.
It was great!
Had to send back the drinks; raw bar pricey and completely tasteless. Charged $4.50 for my daughter’s seltzer in a kid’s cup. Very expensive for such mediocre food.
We had a very good experience here. We had a reservation for a party of six and we were seated immediately. The atmosphere is upbeat and the service is good. We enjoyed the food on the menu, especially the lobster, clam strips, and fish sandwiches. The king crab from the raw bar was cut into pieces that were a bit small, but still good. The cost is a bit on the high side, but we definitely recommend this restaurant.
Food was amazing. Drinks were delicious. Oyster shooters were to die for, cucumber one was an interesting variation that I had never tried before. Server was great.
I had seen good reviews so I tried it. 1. Thought the menu was too limited. 2. The place wasn’t crowded and the service was slow. 3. I thought the prices were out of line with the quality. It wasn’t bad, just not overwhelming.
First time dining at Bonney Read was on a Tuesday evening. Best steamers I’ve had in a long time. Lobster special was same. Right up there with our favorite lobster pound dinners in Maine. We’ll be back!
Mediocre lobster roll that took 30 minutes for $30. Too many better options in the vicinity
Huge portion of fish and chips, although it took too ong to get to the table. Their NE clam chowder is right at the top! Tuesday lobster deal was a great value!
The food overall was excellent. I had the mussels fra diavolvo, the sauce and bread were delicious. The meat in the mussels was very small. Not worth the effort to open them all up. Maybe, should be taken off the menu until plumber ones are available. The other members of my party had the fish & chips, shrimp with greens, and the linguine and clams, all were given high mark's. Raw bar was presented well.
Consider the weather when deciding where to sit. The inside is very noisy and doesn't seem to have air conditioning. At least the night I was there. You can't beat the parking convenience only a block and half away.
The restaurant was a little more casual than I anticipated and very loud. We were seated at a two top, but it was a rectangle and felt very small, especially with the type of food we were eating - lots of plates, bowls, etc. Our waitress, Angel Summer was amazing. Very sweet and attentive with great suggestions. I had the kettle of snow crab. Mine was very good with an ample amount of crab, corn and potatoes. The bread was delicious but didn’t come with the meal - it was extra which I never like unless it’s something super special. Overall, it was a nice evening and the food was good.
Very good would definitely come back
If you are visiting the shore.. You must come here, Great service and delicious seafood.
Great selection of Rum. Try the Flight, a 3 selection sample. Food was good not great. Fish and Chips had a nice Indian curry embedded into it.
Great place in asbury park for a large group. Good drinks and varied selection of food options, including for non fish lovers.
Steamers and mussels were delicious; good tuna and lobster roll, though could have been toasted with butter for real impact.
Good key lime dessert and chocolate cake.
We sat at the bar and the bartender was terrific. Our food was delicious and the drinks were as well. We would definitely go back!
Excellent seafood experience! From raw bar to entrees. And a value considering the exceptional quality.
The best in asbury park
Experienced friendly server. Gorgeous decor. Delicious generous portions. Perfect after a day at the beach!
Outstanding dining experience. Couldn't resist going back the following night. The steamed clams were some of the best I ever had
Overpriced coffee looking shop. They charged us 2 dollars for 3 clams? Why? Who just eats 3? I would have paid $8 for 12? Just so nit picky? Rum drinks were so water down! No Bacardi? Lobster was cooked good $30 for 1lb lobster, soup was not hot, like cold to warm? When I got the bill, $250 for 3 people I was like ouch! Tourist trap restaurant in Asbury NJ! Please!
Excellent lobster dinner and delectable dessert. Very pleased with the attentive service.
Service was great as was the food. A little pricey for lunch but food and service made up for it! I will go back.
This was the best dining experience I've had in years. I can't remember my servers name, but she was amazing. She checked on us frequently. She made us feel comfortable and welcomed. She gave us some ideas of what too do in the small town, since we were on vacation. The food was hot and on time. The atmosphere was wonderful. The location was perfect. I have no complaints. Thanks for a wonderful experience, we will be back.
Great atmosphere for friends or family. Food was fresh and delicious!
Food was excellent
Service also excellent
Only problem is it is very loud if u fine inside
I wd recommend eating outside
I like the ambiance but the prices are getting a bit high. $30 for a lobster roll on a half of a hotdog roll and a small portion of lobster. Come on. You can do better than that. There were four in our party and not one of us was impressed with our food.
The drinks are good though!
This was not our first time there but probably our last.
We had a 8:30 reservation and when we checked in, the hosts told us our table was paying and to wait at the bar. From the bar we could see a number of empty tables but we had our drink and still waited. We went back to the hostess stand to check in and it was clear they forgot about us/had no clue what was happening. They then took us to the table.
Love coming here ! The steam pots are amazing as is their ultimate Bloody Mary. The service is excellent as well
The seafood was excellent, fresh and cooked perfectly. The place is very loud, but would definitely go back.
