Booked Bonnell's for our 27th anniversary celebration. I'm a hero in my wife's eyes . . . food was great, Sheila provided excellent service (been on the waitstaff for 16 years) and the ambience was romantic yet relaxed.
We started with a Malbec wine by the glass. One of the better ones we have had lately. We added a shrimp and cheese grits appetizer. My wife was enthralled with the mix of flavors - grits, shrimp, andouille sausage, and jalapeños . We followed that with the Peppercorn Buffalo Tenderloin, grilled asparagus and truffled potatoes. The tenderloin was extremely tender and the asparagus was grilled perfectly. My wife also enjoyed the cornbread, slightly sweet and airy. I topped off my meal with the Margarita Key Lime Pie . . . loved the added zest from the salt around the edge of the serving dish!
We will be back for another special occasion in the future!
Great food. Took my wife here for her birthday and she loved it. Well worth the money. The service couldn’t have been better. Definitely will be going back.
We had an excellent server and our food was exactly as ordered. My husband had the special which was antelope chops and he said they were delicious. I was very traditional and ordered a filet which was tender and cooked to my liking, while our guest had the pepper crusted filet which he said was great. Other than being a bit noisy due to the party behind us it was a wonderful meal.
Our first time here, but definitely not our last. (I've lived here for over 35 years--why have I never been here before? Shame on me!) She had peppered buffalo, I had mixed grill (andouille sausage, quail, buffalo, elk tenderloin). All were perfect. The peppered buffalo is a standout. Butternut squash soup (containing poached pears and hazelnuts) was awesome. Appetizer (Texas bruschetta with, among other things, some of the best goat cheese I've ever tasted) was marvelous. Desert (apple crisp with house made vanilla ice cream) was to die for. Had a decent NA Beer (St. Pauli NA)--I don't drink alcohol. Outstanding coffee (really important to us). Service was attentive but not intrusive. Owner/executive chef made the rounds of the tables and made us feel welcome. Easy to see why this place tops Zagat listing.
I’ve eaten at Bonnell’s several times and have always been well satisfied. It’s great for groups of friends and family. This time I had the special Wild Boar Fillet and it was excellent. We all finished with Crem Brûlée.
solid meal; welcoming setting that is friendly to all ages; pleasant staff
the food and service is always top quality.
Two favorites is the Elk Tacos
And Joel. 😊
Great food. Nice experience.
This is my favorite restaurant. Love the food. It is so nice to see Bonnell come by see his customers.
Chef Bonnell never fails. The food is sometimes exotic but always wonderful. Our server was remarkable, all smiles, knowledgeable, and very helpful. We've been celebrating our anniversary there for fifteen years and can't wait to go back so, we occasionally go just for fun and the great food! Thanks again Chef Jon!
Very creative preparation of locally sourced ingredients. Very high quality service. Great bottle wine list although the "by-the-glass" list is nothing special. The pheasant tamales were serious.
We regularly dine at Bonnell’s. The service is personable. The food can be eccentric but always a surprise. On this occasion the noise level seemed higher than normal but likely due to where we were seated.
Bonnell’s never disappoints for a great meal, atmosphere and customer service. Thank you.
Bonnell's is one of our local favorites! There is always the standard menu plus a changing seasonal menu - I love ordering off both. The great thing about Bonnell's is you get a quaint, cozy atmosphere that is pretty casual, but top-dollar service and food. We love coming here!
Absolutely fantastic as expected. Service is exceptional
Outstanding and unique food, service, and atmosphere to celebrate life!
We went to dinner with another couple and had a fabulous get together. The food was fantastic, drinks were marvelous, and the server was a lot of fun. Again, we had a wonderful evening with great good, drinks, and friends. Recommend it to anybody!
Had a very nice dinner and enjoyed unique entrees featuring wild game, good pairings and a great wine list.
Fantastic food ! We love this Fort Worth restaurant !
Outstanding in all aspects. Great service. Food is as good as you will find in the metro-plex. We brought guests from out of state for a taste of Texas and everyone was very impressed. They are already talking about a return visit.
Celebrated 50th anniversary with wonderful food and great ambiance.
Slow service, almost like we were completely forgotten about especially at the end.
Upside: incredible steak... and everything else!, one of the very best spicy margaritas Ever!
If you have the time and $$. Do Not miss Bonnells!!!
My dish as seasonal dish offering of elk tasted like it was frozen too long and then cooked. It was one of the most uninspiring dishes that I have had in a very long time. I did not finish the meal. The wife’s dish of fish was flavorful dish in the special dishes afford on the menu. The whole point of the restaurant has been protein that was meat forward rather than a dish of fish as one can get at his dish forward waters restaurant Overall it was an unpleasant destination that misses the mark of what the restaurant can be and should be. I normally love each of his restaurants and enjoy his TCU game day offerings. Today was not a high point in his food empire.
Great place to enjoy good food and good wines.
We were celebrating a friends birthday. As always we had a great experience enhanced by a truly remarkable service team.
The team at Bonnell’s ensure that you have an excellent experience every visit. The food is superb, the wine list expansive and the service unsurpassed.
Great food, exceptional service. Our server, Dan, has many years of experience in the restaurant business and 4 years with Bonnell’s. Ask for him!
Great place to celebrate Valentines Day. Food is amazing but can get loud there.
Great food! We will definitely be back very soon!!!!
My wife and I celebrated our anniversary there and loved everything about it. The service was friendly and knowledgeable and attentive. The food was spectacular. The ambiance was authentic and felt significant without feeling stuffy. Highly recommended.
Before we move away, we thought we should finally make it to Bonnell's for dinner. It was everything one would hope for...professional, delightful staff, and spectacular food!
The only "downer" for us was that we didn't notice until we got home that we had received the wrong "doggie bag" with our leftovers. I had eaten less than half of my amberjack, risotto with crab, and zucchini, and my husband had a large chunk of steak with most of his brussels sprouts and potatoes remaining. Looked like makings for delicious breakfast and dinner the next day. Sadly, when we opened the bag at home, it was someone else's leftover steak with about 3 brussels sprouts and a tablespoon of mashed potatoes. No fish, no risotto, no zucchini. And it was somebody else's steak, so it went in the garbage. Half of a $150 dinner, vanished :-(
Fortunately, after I called to mention the mix-up, the kind manager promised us a little gift certificate compensation next time we're in, but it was still a huge disappointment. Lesson learned...always check your bag BEFORE you leave!!
I went for my birthday and it was lots of fun! Our server, Chad was friendly and knowledgeable. The atmosphere is great. Even when it's crowded, it's never loud, and the food was delicious!
I had the buffalo tenderloin and my friend had the beef tenderloin. Both were outstanding, as were the sides that came with them.
We got our dessert on a decorated plate with a candle in it, and it was complimentary too. Again, the key lime pie was yummy. We didn't leave a crumb. John Bonnell was there too, speaking to his customers. Such a friendly guy. It was a wonderful experience all around.
Valentines celebration! My husband and I enjoyed our evening at Bonnell’s. We could have shared a meal but the menu was outstanding so of course we had to order an appetizer, two entrees and dessert. Everything was delicious.
The food was perfectly delicious and the atmosphere was fancy and sophisticated, yet cozy.
Bonnell's never disappoints! The entrees range from wonderful sea food dishes to rabbit, to Elk, to steaks, and seasonal fancies. The atmosphere is business casual with a romantic flare. Separate from the dining area is a super bar. Our experience was wonderful. We forget how much we enjoy Bonnell's.. we will be coming back more often.
Excellent on all counts!!
Bonnell's is my favorite restaurant in Fort Worth. It's really not even close.
no parking... limited steak selection...over priced... not impressed
We were very pleased with this restaurant. The food was very good with great flavor, and rivals (beats) Del Frisco and Reatta.
This is the second time we've bee to this restaurant. The ambience is cozy and the food is superlative. We both had the shrimp and grits and the Oysters "Texafeller" and they were both original and very tasty. We then both had the redfish in pecan crust and it was cooked to perfection. We topped the dinner off with a crème brulee and Keoki coffee. We were intrigued to learn that Chef Bonnell also has a seafood restaurant (Waters) and can't wait to try it.
