Bonnell's Fine Texas Cuisine
Certified Texas organic beef, wild game, and fresh gulf seafood are the star performers of Bonnell's. Each dish exhibits creativity and innovative tastes with a blend of Southwestern, Creole, and Mexican influences.
Fine Texas Cuisine, as defined by Chef Jon Bonnell, is a blend of regional flavors and cultures, combined with local ingredients that make Texans proud. All of the venison, quail, wild boar, beef, ostrich, chicken, fish, oysters, shrimp, cheeses, and fresh herbs served at Bonnell's come from the great state of Texas.

We only come here for special occasions so that means once or twice a year, so to have a bad experience it's something that will be memorable in a bad way. The waitress is what made this experience poor. The food is always great but the waitress made our special day feel not so special. She came maybe once to check on us, she only brought our drinks, everything else was brought by different people. We just felt like she didn't care that we were there, she wasn't the friendliest either. I don't think your waiters and waitresses understand that this dinner is everything to us, and its special, to them it might not feel that way because they are there everyday but we are not. We feel like the waitress is the face of the restaurant, at least to us, and to have someone not excited to serve us is sad. Like I said before we love this restaurant and their food but were very disappointed in the service last Friday. I think if everyone went to work with a smile it just would make the world a better place, because you never know what the person next to you is going through..
This is one of the best places my wife and I have eaten in a long time. Everything was tremendous. The GM Jeanette was fantastic along with our waiter, couldn't have asked for a better anniversary dinner. Keep up the great work.
Service was wonderful and food was delicious. Everything we tried was outstanding! The atmosphere was great; loved having a quiet restaurant to be able to hear each other and catch up over a great meal.
Poorly managed wine list - our first 2 selections were unavailable and the sommelier’s recommendation for a 3rd was made without consulting us and was not a enjoyable. Food was delivered cloud, service a bit inattentive.
Everything was great but we had to wait twenty minutes before we were seated! When we did get seated there were empty tables all thru out the restaurant and obviously no need for us to wait!
Bonell’s can be counted on for a great meal and service. The oysters Texafellow are so good as are the vegetable rellenos. Wonderful flavors. Add a steak (cow, bison, or elk) and you have a splendid meal. The cheese grits are the best I’ve had.
Great service with fantastic food enjoyed the atmosphere with friends.
Everything was excellent. Food and service were both above par. Our wait staff were attentive and timely; friendly without being intrusive into our conversations. We each ordered a different game entree and shared around the table to broaden our experience. Highly recommend the creme brulee for dessert.
Very noisy, tables crowded together.. could barely hear my husband when we tried to talk. Food is good but too expensive what what it is. Wines are overpriced as well. Good service.
Everything and I mean everything on the menu is amazing especially the buffalo. Wow!
Food was okay, nothing memorable. The seasonal tenderloin entree was served with broccolini and onions & no starch. Entire dish was too salty. The chocolate cherry torte was fantastic.
Excellent food, everything that we ordered was delicious and flavorful and the portions were generous, especially for the price point. One of the best meals I have had!
This restaurant is a Neighborhood Jewel!! It has such great food & Jack our waiter was wonderful!!
Amazing food and a great atmosphere!
Every part of our experience exceeded expectations. The wait staff, the food the ambience was all above and beyound. We had a great experience and would like others to enjoy the same. The food was the best part though it was without equal and we shall enjoy going back again and again.
Bonnell's never fails to impress: consistently impeccable service, deliciously and creatively prepared steaks/seafood/game, appetizers (the SOUPs!), scrumptious desserts that have a unique touch of Texas flavor, and lovely wines. Fail-proof for a special meal.
We went for Restaurant Week and as always, Bonnell's was great. The menu was excellent, especially for someone that wanted to try the restaurant at Restaurant Week prices. John greeted his guests and made sure everything was perfect. It was a great example of what Restaurant Week is supposed to do for patrons, afford them the opportunity to try the menu, be impressed, and then return even when it is not Restaurant Week.
The only problem with Bonnell's is that I don't eat there often enough. We were greeted and seated quickly. The waitress was knowledgeable and friendly. I had the Beef Tenderloin and it was delicious.
Incredible food. Everything was perfect. Our new favorite spot and can't wait to go back.
Bonnell's is a favorite. Service is always exceptional and the food is amazing!
If you haven’t tried Bonnell’s you need to! Excellent food that is not just from a typical steakhouse! The mixed grill with Buffalo, Quail, Andouille Sausage was great and you can add Lamb & or Elk tonit as well. A must for the adventurist and foodies!
It was good but we will be returning to Eddie V's. Our waitress was awesome!!
Excellent dinner. Highly recommend the New Zealand red stag with Bleu Cheese! mash potatoes, if they have it. Peppered bison steak was also great!
Great as always, food was outstanding. We were disappointed that restaurant week had not started here but, that was our fault for not checking.
Amazing. Great alternate to a steakhouse. Good gluten free options. Seriously elk and buffalo steak? Where else can you find this much variety?
As always this was great evening and it was topped off by an excellent waiter.
Excellent food and service. This is a great place to dine!
Always good. Support local. Thanks to John Bonnell’s staff.
Sercice and food was top notch. Seasonal menu is creative with a Texas twist. Game is their specialty, and it is so well executed.
Excellent food and service. Our group had elk, bison, and ribeyes. All were excellent and perfectly cooked as were the vegetables. We thoroughly enjoyed the dinner and would recommend it to all.
Great food as always. Service was also good. The buffalo is the best.
This was the best dining experience we've had in a long time. The food was excellent! Our waiter Mox was TOP NOTCH. He patiently went over the menu as it was our 1st time at the restaurant. Upon returning from the wash room we found our napkins re-folded. He also gave us a sample of the creme brulee which was AWESOME. After our meal we received a visit from the owner. We will return very soon.
Sheila was a very good server. I wish I had ordered differently as my food was rather bland.
I was really impressed with this place! It was in an odd location, but the food and service were great! It’s pricy, but we found that the price was fair given the portion sizes are big and the wine pours were good too. My husband and I agreed that this is a great spot to bring our out of town guests for a great Fort Worth experience!
Server was excellent. Food was amazing!
I took my wife there for her birthday. I was a little concerned about the price, but that went away as soon as we got our meal. I pride myself on being a good cook at home, but it was the first time where I had to admit to myself I cannot cook that.
Love everything about Bonnell's. Just wish the dining area could have more natural light streaming in.
John Bonnell's westside restaurant has been turning out top flight western cuisine for many years. Lydia and I go there every year for our anniversary. The food is incredible as is the ambience and service. We always start off our meal with Oysters Texafella. Lydia got a tasty chicken/mushroom/pasta medley. I get my old standby the mixed grill. We always take some home for a second meal which is quite a value. Also, the martinis were excellent. We'll be back.
Excellent evening. My wife and I were there for our 22nd wedding anniversary. Sheila was our server. Very attentive. Knowlegeable. Professional. It takes allot to impress me but all food courses were outstanding. Very hard to find this kind of outstanding dinner and service in FW but Bonnell's has accomplished the task.
never disappointed in our meals and the service.
the tables are too close together.
