Bongos Cuban Cafe Orlando Ratings and Reviews
We had an appointment, and got in and were seated pretty fast.
Live entertainment was very very loud and overly amplified
It was very loud, so in order to talk, you will have to yell to each other...and we were not right by the live entertainment.
Service was not very good. Server seldom came to our table. We all at times were sitting with empty glasses needing refills.
It took about an hour from the time we were seated, until we had our food...and there were many empty tables and booths.
Food was okay, but bland...nothing special, and certainly not worth the price.
While at our visit, some sort of door alarm went off, and stayed on for about 5 - 10 minutes, and it was piercing. The staff acted as if nothing out of the ordinary was happening.
I would not recommend this place, unless you like very loud entertainment, and overpriced bland food.
There are other places in the same area.
It’s easier to get into this place than other restaurants in Disney, and now you know why.
Family and I went to the restaurant being that it’s a Gloria Estefan restaurant we were expecting to have great taste in food. Sad to say we were all very disappointed we had reservations at 6:45 and that’s the only thing that went very smoothly we got seated quickly when we checked in we already were seated by 6:30 PM from the time that our server took our food order it was about an hour and 15 minute wait by the time the food did get to us. We were very excited to try out great tasting food and everything was bland no flavoring on anything whatsoever and everyone on our table but one person ordered the chicken breast breaded and everything was unsatisfactory . If I knew I was going to pay so much for such horrible food I would’ve went to a local restaurant in my neighborhood that the price is decent and we get great tasting food every time. We will not recommend this restaurant and for the price that we paid each couple the food was not worth it also unsatisfied with the fact that there were six people in total but there were separate checks for each couple which were three and We were very unhappy that tip was included into the check especially when We were very unsatisfied with the service .
I was somewhat disappointed with the food. We ordered Churrasco with tostones and Chicken with sweet plantains. The tostones were soft and under cooked. The chicken was dry and the plantains tasted like the ones they sell in a bag at your local Walmart. I expected fresh, typical food. For those of us who are not “tourist” we can tell the food is not genuine.
Besides that, it was very loud and when the live music went on, you could not understand what they were singing.
I’m sorry, but I would not recommend going to Bongos, It’s to expensive for such poor quality of food. 🤷🏻♀️
This place will likely go down as one of the worst places I have eaten at. It is highly overrated and I made the mistake of trusting OpenTable reviews. Reviews at Yelp and Zomato are more revealing. The "chef" was unwilling to make a simple substitution in a dish to accommodate a severe food allergy. The portion sizes were small, with rice and fried plantains comprising the bulk of a plate anyways. The charges are exorbitant. I would not recommend this place. There are other better options in Disney Springs within feet of here.
The waiter (Austin) was very nice and kind. Frequently came to the table to check if we needed anything and if everything was ok. Was able to bring out are good in a timely manner. The atmosphere was wondering really enjoy the live music and the Congo. Thank you. Keep up the great services. :)
Hugely Disappointing. Old friends together at Disney and wanted to try this place for Cuban. I ordered the slow roasted pork and received pork jerky. Sady, the jerky wasn't flavored, no salt, no spice, just dried pork. The beans, the rice, the tostones... Nothing. No flavor, no spice, no salt... We all left with the plates almost as full as when the waiter delivered the food to us. We were all confused by the number of glowing reviews.
Here for the week and planning on trying other restaurants at Disney Springs.
Our reservation was for 5:30 but we went an hour early with no problem. We are staying on a Disney property and were at Disney Springs when dining at Bongos and Cuban food is not easily available where we live so I it was a real treat. I would recommend Bongos for those looking for a nice change in cuisine.
If you want loud live music with people you don’t want to talk with, this is the place. Like many area tourist spots, Bongos provides an opportunity for the kids to burn off steam in a conga line waving napkins around. The food was decent and the pork was very good though overpriced. The famous mojito was way overpriced and way too sweet, though wine was reasonable. The waitress reached across my wife’s face to set a plate when it would have been just as easy to take one step around. Other than that, she was friendly and fairly efficient. Easy to get in same day through OpenTable.
The food was OK, though I've had better Cuban food elsewhere. The black beans, for example, were very bland. It was very noisy when the band was playing and although the quality of the music was very good, it was difficult to maintain a conversation at times. Our server, Laura, was very professional.
