Bongos Cuban Cafe Orlando Ratings and Reviews
Bongos is a find in the Disney Springs area that has been around for a long time and one that I am glad I recently tried. Authentic Latin atmosphere, with live salsa dancing and music, and friendly staff and service. Great for a date or family wanting a fun and different experience. Food was delicious, service prompt, and staff is smiling and very helpful. Only wish it wasn't so far away from home. I'd be there weekly!
Terrible experience. Hostess was rude, complained about walking up and down stairs to seat us. We made a reservation ahead of time so we could have a nice table, she tried to seat us in a bad table, we asked for another, she complained about having to go back downstairs to ask...then lied about a section that was clearly available.., then took us to a small table back by elevator, very rude. We left.
Bambaloo drinks were watery. I never received my appetizer. I ordered the catch of the day..grilled fish and got chicken. Server went and got the fish, the taste was terrible. It was my boyfriends birthday, total dissapointment. I live in Orlando, and I will not go back.
The service was great and the ambiance excellent love the music and the location. But the food and the variety was so poor the menu don’t have variety is poor. Definitely I no recommend this place to any friend is Soooo expensive for the value of the food.In generall I give 2 stars
This restaurant was not our first choice. We wanted some kind of surf and turf type joint, but since we couldn't get a reservation we went here instead. We were all so pleasantly surprised with how delicious the food was. We had fantastic bacon wrapped plantains yummy!! Empinadas with all fillings were amazing! So delicious!!!
Absolutely perfect!! Food was amazing. Service was wonderful. Nothing but great things to say. I’ve never left a review on any site before, but our experience warranted one. My wife and I took our three pre-teen kids and we all loved the food, band and dancers. My wife is VERY picky on food and she loved it.
We were there for Thanksgiving and their Thanksgiving Meal Deal ($35) was outstanding! Huge bowl of chicken soup with more than 4 ounces of breast meat in the soup, along with potatoes, carrots and noodles! And then 2 HUGE slices of turkey with a mound of mashed potatoes, sweet potato stuffing and vegetables! And for dessert - pumpkin flan. The kids deal was $12, it only had a little cup of soup, but to our surprise the turkey plate was the same as the Adult meal! A great value compared to prices at nearby hotels, and this was Disney Springs! We were very pleased, and we definitely will be back!
We wanted food and atmosphere different from what we could get back in our home town - Bongos fit the criteria. When you walk in, you see the bongo drum barstools (fun) and the winding staircase (is this Havana?) which immediately set the mood. As for the food, the Estefans have put together a menu featuring Cuban favorites that are sure to please. It was hard to decide, but we ultimately chose the roasted pork, along with a side of roasted vegetables. They were both delicious and filling! TIP: If high energy sound is not for you, mention that when making your reservation, as there are options.
I don't usually return to the same restaurant when I'm in Orlando, there are soo many great places that I elect to eat at different places each time I'm down here. However, Bongos is delicious and the atmosphere is fun. So, in back-to-back years, I've brought colleagues with me to the restaurant. Try the black bean hummus and the fufu - you won't be disappointed!
Our server was very knowledgeable about the menu and Cuban foods. His recommendations were wonderful. I had a great margarita on the drink menu. But the BEST cocktail was my companion’s Old Fashion. The live music and dancers were an unexpected delight. It did get too loud to talk, but the set was only 3 songs so we were able to converse during the breaks.
Terrible from entering!!! I get there at 7:13pm with my family and we ask are there any tables available and the hostess had a very snotty attitude saying no nothing available until 8:30pm 9pm and you could clearly see the place wasn’t packed at all plenty tables were open. So my wife had me check open table just in case because she didn’t like the girls attitude and felt she wasn’t being honest at all and low and behold they were not booked had plenty reservations between 7:15 pm and 9pm so I booked 7:15pm one min after her telling us no and the look on her face was priceless having to seat us right then and there after telling us that lie. Let’s just say she wasn’t to happy. Then they tried seating us in the worst places it’s cold outside and we have small children with us then they try seating us by a door that was constantly opening and closing going outside and once again there were plenty of tables so we made them seat us in a more practical place. Then they forget our high chair for our daughter it had to be asked for 3 times they messed up our orders forgot to bring bread etc I wouldn’t recommend bongos if service is high on your list it’s always not good and last night was extra bad and for the high prices they charge it should be a priority! But if you need a quick bite they make good food but that’s the only thing good! Here is a Tip order to go!
The place is too small for the live music they have in there. We opted to sit outside just so we could hear each other at dinner. But because there was not many people out there we felt a little neglected as far as service. Food was okay and seemed to try and be authentic but lacked dynamic flavors.
Nice night out with the family and friends at Disney Springs. Great food and drinks. Fun entertainment with Latin band and dancers. Fun for all ages. Try the shredded pork dish and finish with a Cuban coffee. The paella is large and easily feeds two or more.
Food was okay, but I’ve had better. The yellow rice was very mushy and sticky but the chicken was great. The mixed drinks were very good and loved the the Cuban atmosphere. For the total feel of the restaurant sit downstairs near the stage to watch the dancers and band play music.
