Bonfyre American Grille Ratings and Reviews
I made a reservation about a month ago for Valentines Day. I showed up on the 14th and was seated right away, which is always a great thing. I was then impressed with the memory of my waiter who seemed to memorize every little detail about the menu and the many many special that were going on; from alcohol to food!
I started off with the Spinach Dip as my app. It was very good and show up 4 minutes after I had just place the order. My food however, that took about 35 minutes afterwards to come. So if you do go, make sure to get an appetizer to hold you over until you get your entree.
My food was very good!
I recommend getting the Woodfyre Mixed Grill which comes with ribs, chicken, and my favorite, New York prime rib! Delicious! I ordered a side of grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes, which were very delicious.
The only downside is their dessert menu which is simply consisted of just 3 poorly chosen items. However, I will still be coming back again and again! My food and my service was delightful and made for quite a pleasant evening!
We have dined here for the past four years since moving to Madison. It has been a reliable favorite until last year. There have been subtle changes to the food. The portions have reduced and dishes have changed in that there is a reduced quality, in our opinion. The atmosphere is still warm and inviting. That the the proximity to our home have kept us coming back.
A welcoming place with friendly and knowledgeable staff. My wife had salmon while I had a filet. Both came cooked exactly as we requested (medium well done on salmon, medium rare on steak.
Baked potato was out of this world; veggies were very fresh and great tasting. A dessert (Gran Marnie something) was fantastic and something we will have to return to have again.
Great night celebrating a 50th Birthday. Service was attentive and pleasant. Food and drink were great-- consistently good, large portions and nicely plated. Awesome spot by the fireplace. And the complimentary dessert for the table was such a lovely and thoughtful touch. We will continue coming back! Thank you.
Appetizers were great - entrees so so. Waitress did a fine job with the food service and meals were delivered in a timely fashion - however it did take forever to get noticed and to receive our drinks after ordering. My second beer came well after I finished my meal so i sent it back - they did take it off the bill and offered free dessert as compensation
We had a nice dinner , I don’t think the server was friendly, gave us any options or understood timing in terms of when to take things or refill. She did not give suggestions and although she shared she was new may have tried to engage with the table a little more
My wife and I went for my birthday! The service was top notch! Walked in got seated right away, waitress was at the table soon after and knew the specials without missing a beat. Drinks were fast to arrive and dinner was ordered! Food arrived fast and was wonderful, I had the Bon fyre mixed grille and my wife had the chicken parmesan. Then we had dessert and again the waitress knew every flavor of the small desserts! Great evening out and great service! Highly recommend this fine establishment to anyone! We will be returning!!!
We were seated in the quiet area per our request. Service was professional and well timed. The grilled Caesar salad could have used a bit more char, was well dressed and large enough to share. The steaks and were perfectly rare, well seasoned and tender. They were served with a generous portion of tender crisp green beans dressed with garlic and butter. They, alone, are a reason to return. The house twice backed potato with bacon and cheese could have used less salt. The ribs were fall off the bone tender and very good.. Over all we had an enjoyable evening with good food and friends. I highly recommend the House old fashioned and look forward to returning.
Our server was apparently new, and unfamiliar with the menu. I ordered a filet, which automatically comes with a twice baked potato. I asked if I could swap roasted red potatoes instead. She brought the baked potato, and when I reminded her I had asked for a substitute, she said "I thought this was the substitute." She apologized and brought the correct item as soon as she could, but it was obviously a rush job, so the potatoes were not as crisp as usual. Otherwise she was friendly and helpful.
Ambience was very nice. Food came very fast, which was alarming. I had the steak, chicken, and ribs. Ribs were good, steak was overdone (ordered medium and there was no pink whatsoever), chicken was dry (seemed as if it had been sitting out for quite some time. Husband had the seafood trio of scallops, shrimp, and salmon. Scallops were great but the shrimp was overdone. Salmon was okay. If it wasn’t for having a gift card, I would have been upset with the overall experience and price.
Every year we celebrate our Birthdays at Bonfyre and this year did not disappoint. We had wonderful service and food. We are trying a vegan diet and the kitchen was able to accommodate that request with a wonderful pasta and veggie dish. Thanks for helping us celebrate!
Steady decline. We now go for convenience of location during early evening commute home. Food is ok. Prices are high. Service is sporadic. They tend to over spice their food. Way too hot. Noisy if there is a sports event on. Should either be a bar or be a restaurant. Both is hectic. Last visit the walleye had scales left on it and it was over breaded. Before that the with the ribs and chicken dinner, the chicken was tiny and burnt.
had the prime rib, it was only mediocre, sat by the fireplace, but it was NOT on, COLD night (0 outside) fireplace on would have been nice, "just because" It was the first time we had prime rib, will be the last, other food is far better, Mash potatoes are great
Options are limited on Christmas Eve so we were glad to be able to find a nice place open that still had availability. The kitchen seemed to be struggling a little - with some mis-steps along the way - but our server was very pleasant in the spirit of the evening and did well with "damage control" - leaving us feeling we had a good experience.
