The service was fantastic and food was incredible!
Enjoyable and relaxing
I made my reservation through Open Table and got confirmation - but upon arrival the maître d' informed me that they didn't show the reservation. If if would've been a busy night we no doubt would've gone someplace else. This place has limited seating at this time of the year. Fortunately it was a Tuesday and we got a table. Steaks were good, cheese plate confusing (in WI) and dessert sampling was unique.
Been here before and it's a nice place and location. Next time we're going to ask for a booth though. Wish we would have been offered the option, but still a great brunch overall!
Dined here on April 7th as a party of six. Our car was hit in the parking lot and no one came forward so we are left to deal with it. The item I picked was the flatbread pizza which they were out of and had to pick something else. The pot roast and rib dinners looked amazing, the rest of the dinners were much less in portion and appeal.
Service needs work
steak was rare ordered med-rare
waitress opened my wine improperly
a few other waitress faux pas
very loud atmosphere
bartenders could not keep up
Bonfyre has been great every time we have gone. The food is outstanding. The Menu is big with lots of variety. The drinks are always fantastic. The service was great. They have lots of different types of seating options. This time around we booked a reservation day of and didn't have much of an option. It was great regardless.
Have been there many times. Food was aweful for all three in the party. Come here for the steaks which normally are outstanding . This time the steaks were burnt. One had a salad with chicken, the chicken was aweful. Very disappointed with the experience.
We were there for my husband's birthday. We were seated at a horrible table with horrible view of the traffic and bad lighting. We requested to be moved to a booth, stated none available yet 5 were open during our whole meal. Forgot to offer bread, green beans were frozen and undercooked. My salad did not have any dressing and the lettuce was wilted. The only good part of the meal was my seafood dish. But even the best food food isn't good when eating in the dark with view of the major highway, made this meal not so special. Too bad because we have enjoyed meals there before. Service was poor too.
Staff is friendly and helpful. Comfortable seating and a nice atmosphere. Lots of good options on the menu and the food was delicious.
Although the food was very good, it suffered from the fate that the top line items either ran out, or were sub-par. As an example, while they did offer raw oysters, they were the size of nickels. Another example was that they had Creme Brulee , but they ran out (on a 2:00 Easter reservation) and wouldn't cook more. Another small, but unnecessary, negative was that the wait staff did not make it clear that all drinks (even juice & coffee) were a la carte. When they say "help your self to juice & coffee", and it is right next to the Buffet, most people assume it is included in the Buffet price.
I made reservations based on good reviews online. When I looked at the menu online it looked appealing and the prices were reasonable. Unfortunately there was no indication that Easter was brunch buffet only, no ordering off the menu. I find brunch buffets to be overpriced, and at $32, that's how I feel about my Easter experience at Bonfyre. The wait staff explained that it was buffet-only once we were seated. By that time 2 other parties were in transit to the restaurant and it was too late to change our plans. The food was good. I especially enjoyed the salmon, and the quinoa salad. The chilled roasted asparagus made sense for a buffet, but I prefer it hot. The prime rib was disappointing.
We were seated right next to the door and the bar, which was very crowded. I expected a preferred spot since I made a reservation. It quieted down once the large party that was at the bar was seated.
Excellent service and the food was great, price was just fine for what you get.
Great food and service. The oysters were AMAZING!
A tv was distracting! It felt more like a sports bar rather than a nice restaurant! Food and service were good!
Great food: quality and quantity.
Not for budget conscious.
A little noisy for quiet conversations or romantic dinner.
Food was great, but because it was a busy night, the seafood could have had a bit more grill char. The ribs were spectacular, & the risotto (which came with the 3-seafood dinner) was superb. The best part of the experience was the service, which was friendly, fast, & efficient. One more thing: if you're looking to try a new drink, we really liked the "Rol & Rye". Quite a lot going on in that drink - in a good way.
Great place to meet, centrally located in Madison with ample parking. Menu is extensive and can meet everyone's needs for food types
I specifically requested a corner table in a quiet area of the restaurant because I have severe hearing loss. I was meeting with 4 other people. We were put in the center of the restaurant next to the bar. I could not understand one word the entire time. I even called to verify the online reservation and make it clear I needed a quiet area. I will not be back!
We went here to celebrate my brother's birthday and had a great time. The atmosphere was comfortable, service was great and the place was quiet enough for us to have a nice conversation (without having to yell at one another). Food was delicious as well -- excellent variety!
We haven't been here in awhile but were pleasantly surprised to see they are on the upswing. There were some new items on the menu which may make some happy. All of the servings were ample, no one felt slighted. The grilled shrimp was a great choice with a good blend of sides: green beans, brown rice, and slaw. The prices of beverages and entrees aren't cheap so I was surprised that there was no bread brought to the table. It's nice to have when you have a before-dinner cocktail. Overall, we will put Bon Fyre on our list to visit again.
The cheese curds were extremely greasy but had a good flavor. My friend had the caprese salad & was surprised by sugar in the vinaigrette but she still ate it. My fish tacos were very good and another friend's burger was "okay." It's a nice place & I'd go again but I wasn't blown away. Our server was nice but we waited a lot longer than I'd normally expect.
Predictably nice. If you get on their email list they will send you a coupon for $20 worth of an entrée on your birthday.
Excellent experience. service was great, attentive. Food was delivered quickly, important at lunchtime. Taste of the pot roast and vegetables - excellent. Competitive prices.
Everything about this place was good except for the noise level. Do something to reduce the level coming from the bar area.
We had a great time...great food, service & dessert. Our server, Morgan, was helpful, attentive & fun!
I have been to Bonfyre a number of times and, with best intentions, intended to return home and give Bonfyre an excellent review --- but never got around to it... So this time I promised myself to follow through. Bonfyre is an exceptional restaurant, a gem in Madison dinning---and Bonfyre could hold its own against many of the great Chicago restaurants. Great place.
The brunch was amazing! Unique food choices on the menu. If breakfast isn’t your thing you can order off their lunch menu too. Looking forward to going back soon.
It was a special occasion and I was impressed with the food, service, and drinks. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion.
My meal was good, a sizeable portion which allowed for a full leftover meal.
The wine I chose was mediocre and I should have sent it back as it seemed like the bottle had been opened for a while.
Wait person was attentive and pleasant.
Made a reservation through OpenTable for the Bon Fyre Grill. Arrived and were seated immediately -table was waiting. Extensive drink and food menu. Not overly expensive. Ordered the walleye and friend had steak. Portions were a good size. And came promptly. First time eating walleye was nice but steak was really good. Service was excellent and atmosphere was fine. Have been there before when happy hour was in full swing and the bar area does tend to get noisy but this occasion was perfect.
Your hostess Luz did a great job seating us and making us feel comfortable. The food was great with reasonable portions and prices. One suggestion would be to do something with your main doors to make them easier to open. This is the case with both sets of them. They are extremely heavy and difficult to open.
Great, as always.
Ribs were amazing!!!
Great food and service. We enjoyed our meal and the waitress was fun.
I made a reservation and was greeted to blank stares by the host and hostess. Our table was in a terrible location with no atmosphere, and it took 15 minutes for a server to finally bring us water. It could have been a bad night, but it felt like a systemic problem with the management. It was very pricey and one of the signature cocktails was basically orange juice with a tiny amount of booze.
The food was great and flavorful, we had reservations at 6:45, but didn’t get seated until 7:20. I had the bailey’s pie it was ok. I would come back. My husband had the fish tacos and I had fillet mingon/Oscar style twice baked potato and a crab cake. Our server was really informative. My friend said they have a great happy hour too
I thought the food was excellent and the overall ambiance was peaceful and perfect for a nice date.
I made a reservation about a month ago for Valentines Day. I showed up on the 14th and was seated right away, which is always a great thing. I was then impressed with the memory of my waiter who seemed to memorize every little detail about the menu and the many many special that were going on; from alcohol to food!
I started off with the Spinach Dip as my app. It was very good and show up 4 minutes after I had just place the order. My food however, that took about 35 minutes afterwards to come. So if you do go, make sure to get an appetizer to hold you over until you get your entree.
My food was very good!
I recommend getting the Woodfyre Mixed Grill which comes with ribs, chicken, and my favorite, New York prime rib! Delicious! I ordered a side of grilled asparagus and mashed potatoes, which were very delicious.
The only downside is their dessert menu which is simply consisted of just 3 poorly chosen items. However, I will still be coming back again and again! My food and my service was delightful and made for quite a pleasant evening!
