Very good food, but seemed a bit pricey for what we were getting.
Meat (pulled pork and beef ribs) was served ice cold. The 'free appetizer' bread was cold and dry.
Decent service, but too pricey. Food was not delicious. Sadly, I can't recommend this place in the future.
We had the Brisket & Tri Tip and both were on point. Sides tasted great were a fair size too. Valet parking right outside the door made it easy. Definitely will be going back.
Boneyard Bistro is always consistently wonderful and delicious. The staff is fantastic, the food is top notch, and the cocktails are inspired. Boneyard is one of the few restaurants that I will gladly return to again and again and again.
The food was great but our waiter had to be asked to refill our drinks several times. Also, it took a long time to receive our check.
Boneyard never disappoints. Not only is the bbq exceptional, so are the other items on the menu. The trout is delicious.
Food and service were fantastic! Great place!
We arrived and were seated in the dining room, not the bar and there was a large family with 3 youngsters who were about 2 or 3 years old. They were really loud, banging silverware on the table, so we moved to a porch area. Dinner was good, we had dry rub ribs baby back and beef, both were good. I had, mine with baked beans and cold slaw and my husband ordered battered onion rings which were a high light. He had a house Pinot that he said was good. I had the cactus cooler which was wonderful.
Seats were not that comfortable but we enjoyed the food. Not sure we will return!
Simply stated... DELICIOUS. But the review wants me to write more. So, YUMMILICIOUS.
I ordered my BBQ ribs and sausage wet, but they were served with sauce on the side. The booth spaces are limited. The quality of the food was good, but the beans and cole slaw were too minced. The beans were a little cold, too, but edible and the portions were large. The Ventura Blvd. location, though, was a plus.
Always excellent for everyone from grandpa to toddler. Beef ribs or ribeye are the best. And save room for dessert!
Great food. Friendly service.
Street parking on Saturday is difficult.
Beef ribs are delicious, either with or without sauce.
The food was amazing and the service was excellent. Our drinks were strong too, what more can you ask for?
I liked this place, but I thought for the amount of food you get, it was a little overpriced. It was all good, but not GREAT! :) Drinks were good. Service was good. Perfect for going to the Whitefire Theater across the street. The fact that you can valet and pick up your car after the theater in a lot close by was great since there is no parking in the neighborhoods after 6PM.
They gave a birthday Sunday! It was great.
We’ve been going since it opened but the food has gone way down hill. The ribs were dry and the brisket was disappointing. Sad to say the place is not like it used to be and we won’t be back:(
Great disappointment. Hadn't eaten here in quite a while and my last recollection was a good one. Food took way too long to arrive at the table and when it did, it was not cooked properly, tasted weak and proved to be over-priced for the quality and quantity. Never going back.
Very noisy, Food is not spectacular. Rustic appearance.
Our waitress was great and so was the service and food. My wife and I can't wait to return.
Boneyard Bistro never disappoints. Delicious food and drink with great service. It's our go-to for birthday dinners restaurant.
I was really disappointed in this place - I really wanted to find somewhere on Ventura that was both tasty and fun and this was not the answer. First off, the food was boring and what should have had flavor didn’t and then, for instance the Brussel Sprouts my husband got (yes, yuck anyway) were so overflavored that he couldn’t even eat them - and the waiter who was ok but so understandably unenthused said he’d heard that many times about that dish. I am also a vegetarian (usually boring) so was excited to see a jackfruit wrap on the menu and it was so underwhelming and overpriced. It had no taste at all and I had been starving but couldn’t finish it due to boredom. But that wasn’t nearly as bad as the TWENTY-THREE dollar quesadilla that they charged the same price for mushrooms as they did for steak filling (which is bizarre) and it was just so bland that I’d wished I’d been home to microwave crappy cheese and a tortilla myself. The only bit that our entire party of 4 had that wasn’t really bad was the cookie dough egg roll for dessert. The beignets were boring (though I’d grown accustomed to that by the end of the evening.) The waiter graciously took the Brussels off the bill but it was still outrageous for how bad it all was. I’m willing to pay for decent food, but completely unwilling to pay so much for bad food. Let’s just say that the Dodgers losing game one of the series weren’t the only ones disappointed that evening. Please, if you’re even a half-ok cook and you have any financial backing, open a place ANYWHERE along Ventura east of the 405 that doesn’t suck. We will all mke you very rich!
Oh yeah, AND we all had a very unpleasant next day as a result (sorry, TMI!)
Greasy food, ribs were fatty and not worth the $ at all.
Had heard good thigns about the restaurant for some time and was looking forward to trying it. The wait staff and the car valet were terrific, and the food wasn't bad, but I would be surprised if I ever returned to the resaurant.
There was only one valet and he was so busy that people were waiting 10-15 minutes to drop off or pick up their cars. Consider on busier nights to invest more in valet service. People were yelling at the valet, and he was doing the best that he could under the circumstances.
Consider heat lamps on the patio, we had a reservation and were seated outside. It was quite cool and took away from the dining experience.
Our experience was great, maybe took a little long with our food but we had our drinks and the mood was great so I didn’t mind.
We had a great time with terrific food and an impressive scotch list! Attentive and well-coordinated service. It was loud, but then we were sitting in the covered area with open windows to Ventura, so that's part of the price of being semi-outside. I've been here a few times and will be back.
Was not special. Service was very slow, even for drinks. The menu was a Cuban pig roast which would insinuate roasting an entire pig. However, we were later told that they roasted only parts. They should not advertise that. We are Puerto Rican and the good was bland and overpriced.
If you are not sure what to get, order one of the platters. Comes with a little of everything and plenty to share. We had 5 people and ordered platter that serves 2-4 and still had leftovers. Ribs had just enough spice without being too hot. Pulled pork was my least favorite as it was a bit fatty. Added a salad, which was big enough to share as a starter. If you are into craft beer menu is quite large, just have two choices in mind as they don't always have everything.
Parking is the downside - it is either valet or prepare to walk!
I would come back just for the brisket. Deviled eggs were so good, we had 2 orders. Corn muffins were excellent. My brownie dessert sucked, it was burnt, but no complaints cuz it was free. My friend didn't like the tostada salad, but overall worth a revisit
We have always had great service and food here. It is right around the corner from where we live, so it's tough to justify going out to somewhere else. Be aware, it can get a bit noisy.
Good place to eat. It was very crowded being a Saturday so it was kinda noisy and hard to hear the person I was with.
I give it an A for L.A. BBQ from a true Texan. Great beef ribs -- meaty, quality, well smoked. Good, casual, upbeat vibe -- not quiet -- perfect for families with young kids or just adults seeking southern comfort on a plate.
It was a really good place overall and the service was excellent.
BBQ is excellent and the Brussels sprouts were maybe the best I've ever had. Great service. Just wish it weren't so loud!
It was So so. I’d say a 3 out of 5. Service was good, but food was so so. Meet was tuff, burgers messy, lots of good beers, place was ok. I might go back.
Delicious, good service both at bar and table !!!!!!!!
Crowded yet friendly, food was very good but not great, servers tried but were overwhelmed, forgot to fill drinks, never received our bread at all and our server was a bit sloppy with his handling of our food and drinks. Pricey but then again I would pay for good food so no complaints there
Great food, ambience and service. We have been coming every Wed. for 7 weeks to see our son in a play at the Whitefire Theatre across the street. We love this place and our waiter that we often get, Walker, is wonderful!!! The staff is friendly, professional and very alert to the needs of their customers!
A definite "Go To" place in Sherman Oaks!!!
The food is always good. I have been here many times and always enjoy the food and drink. The noise level has always been manageable, but not last Monday night. It was beyond terrible. Our party of 4 was seated in the restaurant section, as usual. There was a group of 6 drinkers seated in the middle of the dining room and they sounded more like a loud group of 20. We ALL commented how bad it was that night and we were all repeat visitors.
Please sit a drinking party in the bar so the rest of the diners can hear themselves and the people they're with.
This was a HUGE red flag for me and the group I was with as far as repeat visits. And we live close by, so this is NO BUENO!
So good! Fried Mac N Cheese and brisket were the highlights. Asparagus, tri-tip close second!
