Wonderful little spot in the heart of Cambridge. Totally charming, service very good very knowledgeable about the dishes and very helpful, the food was outstanding! Every dish was delicious, inventive and well presented. Definitely worth a repeat visit.
Very inviting atmosphere with creative courses! We had a fixed price menu of 4 courses with a palette cleanser before dessert. The only choice on the menu was one of two desserts and a giant wine list, everything else was already set. The server asked if we had any dietary restrictions but I’m not sure what they would do if we had any.
The waiter was very attentive, answered questions & was very knowledgeable about the food & how it was prepared!
Very nice meal. Not mind blowing for the price. We used a Gilt City coupon for the prix fix 7 course. It was clear that other diners who weren’t using the coupon were given different portions. Pretty poor. Also, the servers mentioned that we were having the “Gilt City Prix Fixe” menu several times aloud until we gently mocked them. Again fairly poor form.
Bondir was a wonderful experience. Me and my girlfriend were seated by the fire as we waited for our table to clear - the chef brought out sautéed barnacles - if i'm remembering correctly, they were from a forager who collects them and ships them overnight to Bondir, "less than 24 hours out of the sea." To be honest I'd never had barnacles before, but they were amazing.
Almost needless to say, the rest of the night was incredible. We were treated to a series of great wines paired with our glorious meal - courses of butternut squash, hamachi (amberjack), duck magret, a small 'palette-cleanser' sorbet, and finally two delicious desserts, an angel foodcake as well as a pudding. It was all fantastic.
Bondir is a great dining experience with a cozy atmosphere, our server was attentive to our every need, and the food is just... absolutely incredible.
If you're looking for subtlety and beauty in a special meal, this is your place. The drama is subdued, but there's plenty to observe, appreciate, and savor. For example, we went Valentine's week, and every dish had a small nod to red, white, or pink without being overstated. Probably the most special moment for me was getting to taste an American chestnut. I had read for years that they are much sweeter and more flavorful than European ones, and now I can say that's true. The entire restaurant feels like a labor of love.
Chef Bond has created a true culinary Nirvana. Every aspect of the dining experience was superb.
Delicious meal. Enjoyed every course. While nothing in particularly amazed me. Everything was excellent and creative. Highly suggest for a special occasion.
Wonderful food, perfect service. Charming ambience, love the fireplace. Elegant without being pretentious.
Top notch in every conceivable way. A vision executed to perfection with what appeared to be effortless grace. Pampered sans pomposity. Could keep raving, such a perfect dining experience.
Lovely fixed menu restaurant in East Cambridge.
We were celebrating a friend’s birthday and wish the service staff could acknowledge with a candle or somethinf
Every course on the prix fix was delicious. And knowing it is locally sourced makes it even better and we didn't leave too stuffed! The ambiance is cozy and it is easy to talk with your dining companions in a normal voice (not true in all restaurants these days.) But since this is a prix fix restaurant it is important for diners to take a look at the menu ahead of time and communicate with the restaurant if any of your party has diet restrictions. They will accommodate changes but advance notice makes it easier.
Excellent smoked duck with charred eggplant purée - sounds weird but it was delicious
Quaint and cozy place with creative fixed menu and very personable service. A special find in Cambridge!
It was good but they never got my opentable reservation which makes me question why I even bother with opentable.
Good environment and tasty food.
My husband and I enjoyed a fabulous dinner celebrating a reunion with two close friends. The four of us have eaten at top-rated restaurants throughout the US and rate Bondir highly for the creativity, quality, and presentation of their tasting menu. The service was excellent and appropriately attentive but understated. Wine pairing choices were on point. We would highly recommend and will dine again at Bondir when visiting Boston area.
My husband and I visited Bondir on the first night of our trip to the Boston area. Chef Bond is to be commended for his outstanding menu that was both delicious and beautifully presented. He was able to accommodate my husband's dietary restrictions without skimping on taste, portion size, or presentation. Our server was very knowledgeable regarding the ingredients in each dish and was attentive while allowing us to enjoy our meal/conversation without interruption. Fabulous experience worth repeating!!
Beautiful space, unique dishes.
What a nice fine dining discovery in Cambridge. Each of chef Jason's prix fix menu selections were alive with flavor and perfectly presented. At $68 per person it is fairly priced for such quality and even the eclectic wines are generally inexpensive. This is a small, casual dining area in which Jason feverishly works solo in an adjacent kitchen. Together with a well informed and unassuming server this was a relaxed setting to enjoy fine dining.
The single prix fix menu option may be too limiting for some, but Chef unexpectedly whipped up a special potato side dish for one in our party that was a professed meat and potatoes only diner. Definitely recommended.
Bondir is a small, cozy, beautiful atmosphere for its lovely unique French cuisine. Upscale in menu, taste, wine & service but not snobby or pretentious. The chef is close by in the small kitchen preparing everything for your table. Just know that specific nights the menu is a $68/person prix fix (that was absolutely wonderful) but we were caught of guard by seeing the menu online. Delicious vegetarian entree as well .
Possibly the best meal I've had in many years. An amazing experience. Visually beautifula and complex flavors. A delicious meal that made my trip worthwhile. Service was excellent, and loved the relaxed atmosphere. Still thinking about the meal...
The Bastille Day Dinner showcased his talent and wisdom for procuring the best ingredients and letting them shine with a deft hand and judicious touch to enhance and transform them to something greater.
Absolutely terrific food fantastic. Service excellent. Wine spectacular
Wow. This place lived up to all expectations. Food was to die for. Our secret Eric was so unbelievably amazing - he was knowledgeable in all of the food and drink up to the football fantasy chat!!!! Can't wait to come back!! .... and Across the road from a great brewery !!
We had a fantastic evening at Bondir. The fixed menu was so much fun. Each course had so many flavors, was so interesting. It was delicious and fresh. The wine was excellent. The place is great because the food is top notch, but the restaurant is welcoming and warm, completely unpretentious. I would highly recommend it.
Small and cozy farm-to-table tasting menu haunt. Only one choice of menu, but the 8 courses were all yummy - great use of mushrooms and peas in the fluke dish; the rhubarb tart was the shining star of the meal.
Made a reservation for a date night while visiting the Boston/Cambridge area. The atmosphere of the restaurant was perfect for date night; very quiet and a wonderful ambiance.
Our waitress was exceptional! Her knowledge of the food and wine was exquisite and the tasting menu was wonderful. I will absolutely eat here again
Authentic European bistro feel to this small and cost restaurant. Tasting menu is excellent. Very creative, beautifully plated and delicious! Excellent knowledgeable wait staff. Interesting wine list. Be sure to check out local parking options before you go - true with all Cambridge restaurants of course. Highly recommended for foodies!
The ambience was nice and cozy! The service very prompt and friendly. How can I forget to compliment the man behind the scenes who presented every course with impeccable style and the right mix of flavors.
Absolutely wonderful. A unique experience. Each dish was like a work of art!
room temperature is really too low
wine list is unsatisfactory
5 courses menu is actually just 3 courses menu plus 2 entremets (small dish served between courses)
Jason Bond cooks from the heart and his heart is full! Wonderful meal great attentive friendly professional service as well
Phenomenal. Still the best meal in Boston
Bondir was brilliant - my wife and I had our 4th anniversary dinner here and we had the Spring menu. The 5 course meal was beautifully presented and the sequencing was creative. My wife is a non-vegetarian and I am a vegetarian, and both of us found the food both comfortable and challenging at once. It's a truly brilliant array of textures and tastes, making each dish both complex and cohesive. The wine and beer selection was not extensive, but the choices were still great and worked well with the food. The addition of a house made mead and palate cleansing tea ice cream was a plus, too.
The ambience was great, too. It's a small cozy atmosphere, which works for special occasions. The 70s rock playlist was fantastic :)
We plan to come back in each of the seasons to see what this brilliant little restaurant does.
My wife and I really enjoyed this on our anniversary. Nice to sit back and let the kitchen do what they deem best. Standouts included the asparagus & egg (nicely poached) and the cavatelli with lamb, but we sincerely enjoyed every well-balanced dish. The meal was paced well with friendly attentive service and although it wasn't on the menu, they were able to do a wine pairing for us when we asked (solid and appropriate choices). Meal opened with some nice house-made mead that was delicious too. Restaurant was not crowded for a Saturday night but that was to our benefit.
After a great experience with their winter menu, we decided to try the spring menu. Food was delicious, and accommodating of vegetarians. I love starting with a light fish course, very refreshing! The ramps and asparagus with poached egg were tasty, but the taste of raw ramps stayed with us for the rest of the meal, altering the flavors of later dishes. That strong ramp flavor made my clean crisp saison beer taste murky and metallic.
But aside from the overpowering ramps issue, the food was delicious. Lamb and Cavatelli with toasted bread crumbs was delicious, but my favorite of the proteins was the seared duck breast with baby broccoli, hot mustard, and an intriguing molasses sauce that complemented the mustard. Excellent! Dessert was delicately flavored tarragon ice cream with dreamy sweet-tart rhubarb chunks on top and crushed cookie on the bottom. Bonus: the sourdough bread with dinner was delicious! We'll come for the summer menu.
Very fresh products, very original in presentation, very delicious, good service.
